Awesome Union pacific coal train and a lot of mess there in quarry Iowa nice Iowa northern ethanol train on the cedar river bridge in cedar falls Iowa red good actions 🤙👍😄
Hello Red, the guys worked very quickly to repair the railway line. But there is still a lot of scrap to be removed. The UP coal train and the IOWA NORTHER tanker train are interesting. Your drone footage where you follow the train is fantastic again. Very beautiful landscape and the river. Thank you for your great work and warm greetings from Germany. Wolfgang
@wolfgangpfeilergartenbahnd6530 Hey Wolfgang, you're welcome! Yeah that coal and scrap will be a big job to remove. They will most likely install the switches for the crossover again.
Cool! i used to live in Cedar Falls. Also used to watch them off load coal at the old John Deere Power Plant in Waterloo. Ever get any video of a train load of tractors?
@gonerydin4225 Thanks gone rydin! No more coal around the Cedar Falls area. CF utilities went to gas. Haven't seen the tractors get loaded. Hopefully I can at some point👍
Thank you for the update on the loaded coal train derailment in Quarry, Iowa, Red! I see that the Union Pacific has the doble tack mainline back in running shape even though there appears to be a slow order pf 60 miles per hour in place. (That's a slow order? What is normal track speed in that area?) The Iowa Northern train to Manley, Iowa looked serene as it traveled on the Canadian National tracks and then on their own tracks. The Cedar River has returned to its banks as it flows through the Cedar Falls, Iowa area. The river is no longer a muddy color and there are portions of islands visible. The recreational boaters are also out and enjoying the river. (Posted 12 August 2024 at 2038 CDT.)
@thomasmackowiak You're welcome Thomas! That sign was normal speed limit there. Slow orders would have been given to the crews with their train orders. Probly 10mph that day. They should be putting the crossover switches back in soon👍
Don't know why I'm always drawn to railroad derailments; probably because I'm a model railroader in Lionel 027 and HO scale. Thanks for the update. Cheers from eastern TN

Red they ever find out what made the coal train derail I know you said there was a crossover there so I figured it might’ve derailed on the crossover but anyway, my friend another awesome video and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thanks for the update on the derailment and for the Iowa Northern traveling beside the river. I'm guessing it was ethanol, but it could have been something else. It was a good train in a beautiful setting. I appreciate you sharing with us. I hope you have a great week, and please tell Walter and Roger hi for me. I'll chat with you later, my friend! 😀😀😀😀😀❤❤❤❤❤
I was fascinated by those derailed cars. Recently, after the July 4th holiday, I noticed on the national news of a train wreck in North Dakota. Being from. No Dak, I was immediately interested of the location of the wreck. Low and behold, I saw that it was outside of Carrington, North Dakota. That was my hometown, where I grew up. Needless to say, I was shocked to see my hometown on the news. I even recognized the family name of the man who took the photographs that went national on associated press. I said to myself, wow it’s a small world. The derailed cars were Canadian pacific, and Kansas City. Two names that I never heard of. But all in all, it was interesting to view my hometown on national news. The best news was, no one was hurt, and the smoke and wind was blowing in the correct direction AWAY from my little farming community…HOME😊
A lot of the UP detectors are now "talk-on-defect-only." This detector might have been programmed to talk at every train, given the recent derailment and rebuilt track.
@rockymountainjazzfan1822 That would make sense. I've listened to the scanner for 3 years in that area and it's definitely new. Talker detectors average around every 20 miles normally.
Great drone views along the Cedar River Red. Looks like they got the line open again, now what to do about all that spilled coal and damaged hoppers. What a mess.
Hi red I hope that’s ok if I call you that those classic rail cars you mentioned used to be on 90 car train that basically went from the labadee coal power plant on out to the western states where the coal is . That train has been together for 35-40 years it is stored in Wyoming at I think larimie . Oh the train went the power plant thougth Missouri Kansas to Wyoming . Thanks
I'm a little jealous about the low density of traffic in IA. Seems like the clocks are turning slower than elsewhere. Not liking the 4 seasons, though. Snow is not my thing. Very pretty presentation capturing the beautiful countryside. Thanks for sharing, Red 🤙👍🇺🇸
@araneaetvelivolum1086 You're welcome Aranea! I have family in Houston. Every time I visit I'm reminded why I live here. Traffic is unbearable there. I am tiring with winter though!

Thanks Red! Since the train took that track, is it going to go to Charles City, or to Shell Rock? I know the tracks split farther north in Waverly, so just wondered which way he's going.

I think it would be a cool visual to see happen and don't think anyone has done such. Thanks, and again enjoy your vids and so keep up the good work.
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 I will point out that depending on traffic levels it could be minutes or hours from the points moved to when the next train passes. I'm a stone's toss from the junction of WSOR and the CN in Waukesha, WI, at M.P. 97.23.
