Impressive as he says "this is not you, you don't do this". It just shows how villains do what they do because they know their limits.
Yep. And Clark showing the Elite how it feels when someone plays by their rules, even as he was faking them out! Even in the comic, Action Comics 775, Clark did such a convincing job making the Elite think he took their methods to heart and yet he still worked them over, even as he was beaten pretty badly at first! This shows why Clark is so formidable as Superman- people tend to underestimate him and not realize he’s a good tactician, strategist and leader, which is why he inspires so much hope as Superman and can even hold his own against monsters.
Then Manchester would commit suicide killing himself in the comics.
Put fingers to head blam gone.
Sad if you think about it.
Then they became the justice league elite.
And the hat got kicked out.😂
Guessing they tried to make him

An issue.
Undisciplined uneducated children are made fit to become criminals.
Also they changed a lot with this adaptation, recommend reading the comic.
People who think might makes right think they’re the strongest until they see sunrise more powerful
“Yes, they did see. They saw the ugliness of violence as a solution and it frightened them. It frightened me too when I decided to cross that line and do what you do. It's so easy. Anger, vengeance. Luckily, I'm not you. And I never will be.”
I love how he not only teaches Manchester a lesson but he also teaches the citizens a lesson about how killing is wrong! Batman would be proud!
Not really that killing is wrong, but how scary it is for those in power making the rules that suit them like the Elites were doing. Superman has killed before when needed, but those threats are almost exclusively Dark Seide level ;those he can't overpower with ease.
Tell that to Superman's Injustice universe counterpart. lol
@@kevinphoenix2007 Bruh every DC fan despises injustice story, it literally goes against the whole point of superman as a character personifying hope . The games are good tho .
@@Chuchel-hh6hq Well he lost his wife, unborn baby, and his entire city. That can mentally hurt anyone! And plus Wonder Woman pushed him even further in the dark.
@@hayleyyeager8008Yeah Injustice sucks writing wise and character wise. Kingdom Come superman is everything Injustice superman should've been.
Somewhere in Gotham City, Bruce is breathing a sigh of relief and putting the kryptonite back in safe storage
I figure Batman put it together right away. Superman didn’t even have to warn him because he trusted he’d know.
I think he was already halfway out of Gotham by that point lol
he probably knew Clark would do this at some point probably just smiling
I picture Batman watching from the Batcave, giving a slow golf clap.
He probably was in on the joke, after all, who is gonna pay for the damages?
This is one of my favorite Superman stories and one of the few that helped me love and understand the character. Especially since it focuses how his rules and morality hold up in the modern world and how we should try to be better.
Same here. I used to think of Superman as just a "big blue boy-scout", but when written well there can be so much more to his character.
@@ZechsMerquise195 yep
His message has always been one that I've kept tucked in my heart. Be the change you want to see in the world and to never be afraid to be better, to be good (even when labelled as corny or naive).
Yep, he is more "Big Blue Planet Ender with morals"
I've only ever seen clips of this movie, but "I've finally bought what you've been selling!" is a line that has stuck with me.
The best dialogue is when two people watch Superman go berserk and the first asks:
"Is that Superman?"
And gets the reply:
"Not anymore."
We got my Superman animated movie at home 🏠🏠🏠🏠🏡🏡🏡🏡🏠🏠😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤🎉 🎊.
Superman didn't even do the lobotomy thing. He basically gave Manchester a mini-concussion, cutting off his access to the part of his brain that gives him his psychic powers. By the time it wares off, Chester will be locked in a supermax prison, so hopped up on Psy-dampeners, he won't even be able to do card tricks.
I’m certain he did a lobotomy. He did the heat vision right through his skull in a miniature manner to focus it like a scalpel. And cut the magic access to his brain permanently. It won’t wear off, otherwise he would’ve said it.
@@Gunganfan actually he burned a tumor in Manchester brain who gave him his powers but since it's tumor would kill him eventualy
Here in this movie, he fried it because this was a closed story. In the comics he only booped it since they don’t want to remove MB fully.
@@mattthegoat606 No, that is how it goes down in Action Comics #775, of which "Superman vs. The Elite" is an adaptation. Superman disables Black rather than stripping him of his powers permanently... another demonstration that Superman can be a scalpel rather than a sledgehammer when the situation calls for it.
Only in the comic version. In this iteration, he took out his powers for keeps, and all the Elite were taken to have theirs removed too.
This is, of course, because this version is a one-off story and doesn’t have to leave a backdoor for the Elite to potentially come back as future villains like the comic did.
*This is my favourite Superman film and perhaps DC's most underrated animated film.*
It perfectly adapts the story "What's so funny about truth, Justice and the American Way" and Superman's speech about "dreams saving us" gives me *CHILLS* every time I watch it. It is such a beautiful message that the world needs to hear, now more than ever, especially with how much cynicism there is today. Constant corruption and greed, brutal and tragic wars leading to the deaths of thousands of innocent people, how much our own planet is slowly dying from our actions, and so countless other problems etc... it's so easy and understandable to become just as ugly and nihilistic about the world as much as Manchester Black and the Elite are. That's why the world truly needs Superman because he reminds us that *WE CAN BE BETTER* ; he is the friend who believes in us all no matter how dark and impossible it may seem; he finds a way to lift us all up and believe in a *better tomorrow* again.
I absolutely adore this movie and the way it understands characters. I couldn't recommend this film enough to the people who say "Superman is boring", because to me this film really disproves that notion quite well.
This is the Superman I'm very happy we'll get to see in James Gunn's Superman movie next year.
The one bloodshot eye is an EXCELLENT touch for this scene. It makes the Man of Steel look like he's lost his mind.
Traditional superheroes will always be the best.

Careful, Superman, your Sephiroth’s showing!
That's why he sounded familiar.
He gave the Elite a wonderful present... despair.
Now that...that would be bad...sephiroth with the power of a kryptonian....he wouldnt even need the lifestream
@@BlueMoon56832isn’t one of Sephiroth’s moves a supernova? If so then he could just use it on himself to get stronger since Kryptonians get stronger from exposure to sun light.
Enough with the nightmare fuel!
Best DC animated movie!
Superman tapping into his golden age "be a nice person or be a dead bully!" Attitude.
It's amazing "You're living in a dream world" was once said by someone who worked on Superman. The superhero who has the perfect response to that.
This is how you write an overwhelming victory for Superman and make it engaging. He won the fight and the argument. Even if you don't agree with Superman, you definitely won't agree with Manchester anymore.
Zack Snyder said a lot of weird things about superheroes. Remember what he said about Batman and Prison?
@@comicscinemaothermedia9247
Pretty sure he even said that the more people tell him Batman doesn’t kill makes him want to make Batman kill even more… this is definitely not the man I want running DC’s live action movies.
@michaelgarcia5680 Yeah, he did. It was like telling a kid not to eat sugar with an open bag of marshmallows on the other side of the room. Good luck with that
@Just_Some_Guy_with_a_Mustache Actually, Superman won the fight and lost the argument. Superman sunk the the Elite's level and used his fists to solve a problem. The Elite are straw-men characters/punching bags for Superman to beat up and wag his finger at.
Superman never delivers lectures or sermons to his enemies who can hit back just as hard and harder than he can. Darkseid, Brainiac, the Anti-Monitor, Zod, Shazam, Captain Atom, Trigon, Ultraman (Crime Syndicate), Doomsday, WRAITH etc.
@DoctorKnow00 I think you need to rewatch the scene, buddy. The whole point was that Superman DIDN'T stoop to the Elites level of Uber violence to solve his problem and saved the day without massive casualties. That was the point. Also, Superman has talked down Captain Atom, Bizzaro, and The Captain/Shazam SEVERAL times.
Superman vs The Elite is the cinema 🍷🗿👌
Superman vs. the Elite is one of the best Superman movies that understands the character. While this scene does emphasize what's special about Superman, it's missing the "dreams" speech, which is a crucial moment that showcases what makes Superman the hero he is.
It is in the movie though, it happens right after this video’s point in the story, the video just cut it off right before he says it
@@lukeflanders282 I'm aware of that. It doesn't change how this video cut out the best part, which showcases what makes Superman the hero he is.

And people say he is boring. Superman is the father of all heroes. Don't you dare mention non canon alternative realities like Injustice. Injustice was never canon and even if it was it's not the real Superman we know, just a different counterpart. The real Superman is the definition of honest and heroic who always fights for what is right
@@TheShadow6090 I never took the story of Injustice seriously. To me, Injustice storyline is just a excuse to justify why superheroes would fight each other in a Mortal Kombat style game.
@@theunknowncommenter725 not to mention that in the end the good Superman came to that dimension and saved the day by stopping his evil counterpart
Technically, Injustice Superman is canon in some capacity, in that in the DC Multiverse, it’s a version of Superman, but not the version of Superman we know and love.
@@lucasgibbs4050 the story is mostly confirmed by Dc as not actual canon but thanks

Scenes like this make you appreciate just how much control and self-restraint Superman has.

This movie and All-star superman are goated
If there is one thing with Superman and Sephiroth sharing the same voice actor, it's that if Superman ever gets mad, you better watch yourself because nice guys have a limit if you push them too far.
This movie is one of the prime examples of how to tell a good Superman story. Everyone who thinks Superman is boring should watch this film 😎.
1:40 that little sigh of relief always made me laugh…did you REALLY think that was gunna stop him😂
I feel like this is the greatest animated Superman movie ever. It’s not a question of whether or not Superman can beat the bad guys, it’s a question of whether or not everyone wants a Superman that kills them.
And then we got Superman killing villains and heroes alike via Injustice. Though none of these incarnations get to see it happen, we do.

I once saw a version of this video where the guy added his own comments to the scenes in form of subtitles, making it funnier. Like when Chester "crushed" Supes by the debris and relaxingly breathed out,the guy commented like "Relaxing? He took an explosion of the sun to the face and lived, really thinking some debris is more dangerous?"
As of me writing this, this upload is 10 hours old. And I truly believe I know why.
Though I have not yet seen Superman: Legacy or whatever James Gunn intends to name it, I believe the point of the movie will be to remind us what Superman stands for. This scene may yet be the most important part of that movie.
In a cynical world such as ours, where pessimism and skepticism reigns supreme, it is important to be reminded of optimism. That for all the horrifically bad in the world, there is a goodness that deserves to have it's day. That for all the power Superman may have, his greatest power lays not in the physical but in the philosophical. Superman's greatest power comes not in his strength or his abilities like shooting laser from his eyes.... but his hope in humanity. His hope and dream that everyone, super or not, can become better and work towards the world we all desire. One of truth, justice... and the American dream.
I swear I wanna see this arc play out in live action one day. That’s the point of Superman, he has great powers, but chooses to save lives with it instead of appointing himself judge, jury and executioner.
That seems to be the idea but with the originals (The Authority)
The great part about it being a choice is the frightening aspect that the opposite can always be chosen as well. JLU understood this with Lord Superman, this story also understands it, and Injustice misses the mark by about a galaxy as the preceding call to action is just "one bad day" rather than a choice.
Nice ❤
Giving him some love taps at the end lol
People tend to forget about Superman's robot army. Even the writers
We need a big blue like this in the movie theatre!
Bruce: Heh.. That was a good acting Clark
Alfred holding a huge chunk of kryptonite: Should I put this back to the safe, master Bruce?
Hey. Look at that, The first time I see Superman with pinkeye.
Yeah... as if Batman can beat bloodlusted Superman. And that's including prep time. Supes will simply speed blitz Bats. Or heat vision him from several galaxies away.
I never understand why they don’t use their powers properly again. Coldcast has the ability to shut Superman’s brain down. He did it earlier and then they killed an entire villain group in front of Superman (something he would never allow so he wasn’t faking being disabled). Never once does coldcast so it again, he instead decide to waste a ton of his powers to try to blow up Superman? The guy who can survive nukes? Manchester black doesn’t telekinetically grab Superman’s capillaries or his organs again either. Something we saw worked just fine before (since presumably Superman’s brain needs blood like anyone else). They really just let their egos get to there head.
Why are you showing us things that you deleted in crisis on infinite arts?😢
Superman Is in his Bag Manchester doesn't stand a chance
Good lesson. Probably could have taught it without destroying half a city and ruining people's lives but the message is nice
I would've loved a line from Superman along the lines of "You do not want to KNOW the paperwork I had to fill out to get permission to wreck this place as part of my act."
this lesson hits deep, if an overpowered villain pushes the hero too far, the hero has no choice but to go instant kill just like the villain, but before crossing the line always come prepared with back up to keep the civilians safe from your destruction, and superman displayed what would happen if he'd ever decided to cross over into violence
What does he mean "look at this place"? Superman didn't do that; Manchester did. Superman never said he was better than anyone else. Superman just likes doing the right thing. Why do people assume that people who like doing the right thing think they are better than everyone else. The reality is they just have a higher moral standard.
Thats great Superman, with all these robots, the people are safe.
Now, who's going to fix all the damage caused to the city!?

That is some Heavy Landing
It never ceases to amaze me how there be bystanders just trying to watch a good fight 😮 Ummmmmmm safety first 🤦🏾♂️ ( Nooooooootttttttt )
Will always be my favorite hero, as Kal-El in Hebrew means "praise God" Jerry and Joel believed in God.
This was the moment people realized Superman and Sephiroth are the same voice actor. God i love this scene.
One of the few times that Superman took on the role of using fear to prevent outright killing. Something Batman is basically known for. It was either the fear mongering act or outright playing thier game of killing. Clark basically saw the former as a lesser of two scenarios. Because instilling fear into his villains isn't what he's normally used to.
Should've called him London Black, ain't no Manchester in that accent
Such a film should defo be the 2nd installment to Legacy or the 3rd film.
It was at this moment that Batman was halfway out the batcave with a Kryptonite arsenal
