Got really tired of hearing the same 3 people speak about these lenses but dropped what was doing to hear your perspective as it felt more honest and not “Blazar sent me these to say only good things” My biggest question is shooting handheld does the anamorphic IS actually work well with the Lumix S5iix or do you get the jellow warp effect
Thanks for trusting me man! These lenses are definitely good for the price with the “quirks” I spoke about in the vid! I did end up getting some jellow warp on some shots and I noticed it the most when I was pulling focus by hand vs using a focus wheel. It might be from the rotation I was creating with my hand. If you take a look at some shots in my previous video and look at the edges of some shots you can see it a little. I ended up turning off the anamorphic IS at a point because I was afraid of it carrying over. I’m gonna be dropping a vid soon on the S5IIX and I’m going to cover that topic with some tests!
Thank goodness, I thought I was gonna get thrashed for saying that 🤣 hahaha I appreciate you taking the time to watch! Same here! Do you own one already?? I really want to get the 33mm next
Very informal video, love the cinematography. My only concern is trying to attach this on a Sony fx3. I think I would need a Lens Mount Adapter. One person recommends me to use MOFAGE POCO lense mount adapter, it’s around 400. I just hope this lense mount adapter can work with other lenses as well like kowa/arri lense/ other types of lenses
Hey! You definitely need a PL adaptor for these lenses and that one you got recommended is fantastic especially because of the filters and build quality. I personally use the NISI PL adaptor because it was a bit more affordable for me and I don't need the drop in filters. But that adaptor will definitely work with other PL lenses! I use the same adaptor across all my PL glass like my DZO and BLAZAR lenses.
are you based in the UK, fella? really very pleased finally to see some decent UK footage shot with one of these. i've used the initial set on a shoot of my own here in london, but the scottish highlands is just the most perfect setting for wide scapes.
I’m from Miami Florida! I just took a quick vacation out to the highlands because it was on my bucket list. How did you enjoy the set? Did they meet your expectations?
Hal! We have loads of mutual friends man, pretty sure you've been in bands with some people I know haha! Always cool to see someone I know of in a random video's comment section haha! Happened twice this week! Sam - Slabdragger/Cro's Nest Studio
@cesarlorca_ ah, that makes sense then! i actually really likes using them, but the project we had the B set hired on was a little peculiar in that we were attempting to match cronenwerth's work on blade runner almost shot for shot, so it may not have been the fairest assssment. i aim to hire them again to use to my own spec soon. ua-cam.com/video/T2NHmVrQDUc/v-deo.htmlsi=3FfwzwS2ncR-1apY
Thanks bro! Mannnnnn I can’t wait to get the 33mm! The look of that lens is just 👌 How are you enjoying the 85mm? definitely going to be building this full set over time!
@@cesarlorca_ I honestly haven't used it really yet since I really want to have the 33mm as well before I make a full video about it, but the test shots I made with it look so good man
Hey amazing video! I am just wondering how did you pair the lumix with the lens? I have s5ii and looking to buy the 45mm with 1.5x ef adapter and then pair it with DZOFILM ef to l adapter. Do tou have any recommendations? (I have other ef lenses so that why i am considering the ef to l and not pl to l adapter)
Lmaooo had the whole team playing ball behind me 😭🤣 and naw man it’s pretty easy to stabilize the shots but just decided to keep some of that handheld feel in there
Oh my dude I need this :O ... do you find 45mm is wide enough? I'm a 35mm full frame kinda guy so I know the left and right will be 33mm? but just scared the 45mm top and bottom is too tight haha
I shoot 90% of the time on 35mm full frame too bro so I think you’ll love the 45! It’s definitely a different shooting experience though since you get a wider fov. It almost feels like you’re shooting on a 30mm or 35mm when it comes to the width of the frame but not the height. It’s tough to explain but I’m planning on getting the 33 to make sure I have a wider focal length as well!
I hear you bro. Hopefully I can partner with brands in the future to do some giveaways in some capacity to get cool stuff like this in other filmmakers hands
Dude the closest lens that has similar characteristics to this one are the atlas mercuries and ONE of those runs for around $8,000 So $900 bucks vs $8,000 is definitely cheap in comparison…
👆This is a perfect reply. Anamorphic’s are far far far from cheap and being able to get one at sub $1,000 dollars and a set of 3 under $3000 with these attributes is crazy. So yeah cheap relative to expensive anamorphic glass but not cheap relative to vintage glass. I used the canon FD for examples on the qualities I enjoy not the price 🙏
If he thinks a roughly $1000 USD lens is "Cheap" then you sir are extremely disconnected with your audience. Don't assume everyone has the same budget as you do 👎👎
Poetic and accurate! Great work. That Atlas footage looked 🔥🔥🔥 too
Thanks dude I appreciate the love! And man… those Atlas Orion’s are soooo worth the back pain 😂
Great video
Thanks!

Agreed, flares are the last thing for me when it’s time to use an anamorphic. Love these lenses and great video. I wanna end up owning a set

Wow! This is a very high quality video. Love the color grade, would love to see a breakdown on how you colored this footage!

What are good variations to have? Cus they have boxes with 33,50,85 and 100 or something like that.
@@kingmuhu I went with a 33-85mm combo. Might add a fifty later on but I think a 33-85 or 45-85 combo will cover a lot of your needs!
What lens adapter are you using with these on your S5IIX? Thoughts on any issues or quality loss through adapting?
I use the NISI adapter! It doesn’t have any glass elements so there isn’t any loss of quality

Love mine! Lately used the Mercurys and there’s almost no quality difference 🤯
Isn't that insane to think? Especially with the price difference between those two lenses
@@cesarlorca_ Yeah absolutely! Actually preferred the blue flare over atlas’s amber one.
Same! The amber looks good but the classic blue just looks 👌

Thoughts on the CATOs?
Honestly haven’t looked into them much to have any input. I’ll definitely check them out and try to rent some out in the future to see what’s up!
Since it’s so cheap can you get me one 😂😂

you should remove the "CHEAP" out of your describtion
Cheap relative to the expensive anamorphic lenses that used to be the only option but not cheap relative to picking up a vintage lens.

Do your research before writing. Look for a 2x Full Frame Anamorphic lens for less than 10k USD and write again
It is cheap though lol.

Hey, do me a favor and take the time you took to write these comments and find me a anamorphic lens that is cheaper than this one. Ill be waiting!
Another copy/paste YTubers with such a bland review. You guys just copy off one anothers homework huh?
