I'm surprised that you went with granite. Normally people here in Florida go with the native limestone. Granite is not native to the state, so it is typically brought in by rich people for landscaping.
My Dad always had a gravel pile for my brother and I to spread, did it by wheelbarrow, shovel and rake. Took awhile but it kept us busy and not getting into trouble
I live in Southern Illinois. I bought 8 tons of grade 8 delivered and spread for $180.00 . I would like to have the gravel concession where you live. I know limestone is less than $8.00/ton at the quarry.
I would put atleast a 6" plastic colvert uder the drive where the ditch meets it and about 4' of chicken wire on each side of the colvert on both sides of the drive to hold the gravel in place .
A couple of things. First, it looks like you have some good clay under the sand layer on your property. I could use some of that in areas around our place. Second, I really like that dump trailer. It doesn't have all of the "bells and whistles", but it gets the job done and would suit my needs very well.
Hank, I’ve not seen enough of your past videos to know your plans for that sand flat with the ditch down the middle. If the ditch is going to be long term, you might look at a PTO driven rotary drainage ditcher. Has an impeller that throws the dirt/sand out to the side; kinda like a snow blower. Probably only take 15-20 minutes to clean the whole length of it. Good luck, sir!
Nice video. What you could do though Hank is put some bales of hay around the entrance of the covert and that will prevent the sand from getting in there that stone will work for a little bit but not for long.
Crushed gravel with fines weighs about 2700 lbs. per yard. Clear, no fines weighs about 2200 per yard. That makes your load about 3.5 yards. Using the native crushed rock here and it's about $350 for a 10 yard dump truck load.
Yep, in Missouri I can buy a full tandem load of around 14 tons delivered for around $210.00, he will dump it in a pile or spread it out as in dump it while moving on a road or lot.
Take that trailer in October and put some hay in it and give the kids a hay ride ...Maybe a haunted hayride across your property at night ..That trailer could fit a lot of kiddos on it
We never had to sift are topsoil cause we have great black dirt here in Iowa we pastured animals on the property for ten years then let it set idle for three years best black dirt you would want it sold itself so good all dirt no sand like some company do 15:44
@KevinHarvey-qw5mj unfortunately more rock than dirt here, we are on limestone with much of it exposed. Door County WI, when we lived on the west side of Wisconsin, it was good dirt, but got sandy as you went north.

You need to plant grass/sod to keep it from washing out. Living here in North Florida the roots will hold the sand together.

I wish we had those prices here
I was today years old when I found out a small pile of gravel is heavy! Hank please adopt me! I want to play with all your cool tools!

Good job and God bless y'all

The closer to the gulf coast you get the higher the price for crushed gravel. Most of it has to come in by railroad.
People don't seem to get that👍

You show dig it back out and line the ditch with riprap that will stop the erosion and the clogging of the culvert
Hank you need to dig a hole deeper than the culvert pipe and put rip rap stone in the hole to keep the sand out of your pipe.

Wow $350 for that much gravel here in wv I get 5 ton for $85
Woah, $350 for 3 and 1/2 tons? At the quarry here in NY I'm paying $28 per ton + tax.
$22 ish a ton in NC
We bought a rock crusher (small unit) because of the price of gravel in Northern Nevada.
That trailer is tougher than you think i have a 5×8 single axle rated fo 8000 it will handle every bite of it
7000# is about 3 yards. What's really heavy is item-4 which is rock dust and gravel. That's about 1.5 tons per yard.
You need a lot more gravel my friend but just remember, “True Love Travels on a Gravel Road.” 🎸
Indeed it does
Mooie fijne breuk steen ziet er goed uit .
Looks plumb awesome, nice job.......
Thats crazy $350 for what looks to be 2 yards maybe less
Yep, in Missouri I can buy a full tandem load of around 14 tons delivered for around $210.00, he will dump it in a pile or spread it out as in dump it while moving on a road or lot.
Why didn't you use the dump/spread option on that trailer.
Not enough to matter. Took me 3 minutes to spread it from a pile.
Hank you seem a little tired or sad today 😮 hope all is well there!!!
Don't look like the gravel we pumped out of our pit more color looks like are limestone up here but everyplace is different 4:35
Hank do it your way
You need to share your recent tire filling video with that JD owner. He had a little too much spring in his step.
And some real ballast.
Take that trailer in October and put some hay in it and give the kids a hay ride ...Maybe a haunted hayride across your property at night ..That trailer could fit a lot of kiddos on it
Right on!
I guess it depends on where you live. That amount of gravel here is about 1/2 what you paid and that was delivered and spread.
How many yards is that bucket then I'll give you a fill for what you're getting
Nice trailer!
some body put black top ground up 1st then the gravel it keeps it from sinking like a stones
That's high for where I'm at. Is that pipe big enough??
Crushed asphalt works better i did my whole drive way which is 10ft wide by 100 feet long
And a lot cheaper
I would not wany crushed asphalt on my driveway
@@benjaminhale1454 ok why
Cubic yards goes from 2700to 3200 depends what it is 7:29
Hank, Crushed concrete will do what you’re doing just a lot cheaper brother!
I thought about that.... may go that route later
My boss has been paying about $25 a ton for unwashed 1.5" utility rock at the crusher.
Wow where can you buy that much gravel Limestone for $300 it cost you $1,500 where I live
Looks like about 3500#. Might suggest going to a yard with a scale.
$47.65 A ton for 57s here at the crusher
Why would you tarp gravel Hank?
I don't give DOT any reason to look at me going down the road
That is twice the amount I get for $400.00.
Should be about 3.5 yards
that makes white dust
Seems awful high on price, just got 26 tons delivered and spread for 650...
I just got 20 yards for $1500
I feel sorry for you I bought 71 ton 2a mod for $588
I paid 600 for a tandem dump truck.
You need some crush and run gravel.
You got ripped off. 57 white rock where I live is 50$ a yard i been paying 800$ for 16 yards on a 10 wheel dump truck
Me and you live in different places. I didn't get ripped off. I paid the going rate for rock in my area.
Paid way to much for that stone. Especially when you don't have a scale to weigh it. That stone should only be at most 4.50 a ton
You over paid for that. You should be able to get 22 tons for $475. Put B-rock in front of that culvert
That's the going rate here.
Put a bale of straw in front of it
Tailgate spread it.
I believe he only loaded with 2 tons
23 dollars a tone delivered in my neck for that kind of stone.
Man that's cheap! Our limestone in ohio wasn't that cheap 10 years ago!
@timidater4803 I have to order some soon, I just got 18 yards of sifted top soil at 35 dollars a yard delivered.
We never had to sift are topsoil cause we have great black dirt here in Iowa we pastured animals on the property for ten years then let it set idle for three years best black dirt you would want it sold itself so good all dirt no sand like some company do 15:44

doesnt look like much for $350...
If that’s $350.00 of gravel you got had
That's what it goes for around here. Can't help what everyone charges
350 bucks for that you got ripped off
Nah... paid the going rate for our area. Can't force them to sell it cheaper.
You got robbed for 350 you should get a 10 wheeler for that and I live in california
Using a dump trailer to move gravel sure beats shoveling.
