I've read Bishop Gänswein's book in German. I liked it and I don't see why Pope Francis would take offense from it. While being interesting its far from being provocative in any way. I would like to see him to get a more influential role in Germany.

Gaenswein is exclusively George Clooney and stylish. The church needs the Sheppard without pomp in order to care for the faithfuls.

@@LostArchivist Assuming there was no funny business with BXIV's resignation, Francis is the legitimate heir to the thrown of St. Peter. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if a future Pope and teaching Magisterium were to look back and declare Francis either unfit and illegitimate, or an outright heretic; look at he scandal he has brough to the Chair of Peter.

That's how it is with Catholic teaching and also the context from which the Pope comes. We don't stay on one side of the fence.

The interview book further unmasks Pope Francis unflatteringly.
Is he racist for saying Cardinal Sarah has been easily misled?
That there is something wrong with you if you disagree with Francis has been one of the reliable characteristics of this pontificate

@@Jimboken1 It is not merely a line it was also a hook, but more importantly, it is an office and a sacred title with all that comes with it including its authority, duties, and the gravitas it necessitates by those governed by the one the Holy Spirit has set upon it. So it is not meaningless, it is the key to understanding the whole affair in the context of what you raised against the current heir fulfilling the office. Look at what the Councils and the Church Fathers say regarding this matter.
Admittedly I was cryptic and did not clarify my answer until now, but it should be clear enough now.
The Pope is not a CEO, a president, surely he is not the King of Kings, but he is His Major Domo and bears the authority of such.

      @@LostArchivist I'm a catholic.
I'm well aware of the importance of the Bishop of Rome.
      Are you some sorta hyperpapalist/ultramontanist?
Catholic teaching has always acknowledged that popes can make grave mistakes of various kinds when they are not exercising the fullness of their authority in ex cathedra decrees.
i ask again what is your point?

    • @LostArchivist
      @LostArchivist Місяць тому

@@Jimboken1 My point is there are many Sedavacanists right now and many people in dissent against the current pope's Magisterium and this both sows division and schism and promotes the modern error that we are in our prudence we stand in judgement over all things as final arbiter, rather than being subject in meekness and humility to Holy Mother Church.
My point is, the spirit many who are critical of the Holy Father are acting in, is not of God but that of pride and the world, it inverts the proper intellectual stance for the sheep to the shepherds, and is leading many into sin. So it is highly advisable to be suspicious of that spiritual movement.
Yes of course the Pope can make mistakes when not speaking in his teaching office, but many start with the assumption he is and interpret from this place of suspicion, and this is a spiritually dangerous position ripe to be attacked by the enemy.
The people of God are not trusting Lord Jesus to rule His Church and guard His Bride, and are looking inwards both socially and spiritually when we are called to go out and die to ourselves and pick up our crosses and follow after our Lord in self-sacrifice for the salvation of souls in an age when evangelists are desperately needed to bring the Light of the Gospel to a world falling back into pagan ways with a new coat of paint.

John on superlative, classic form today😄👍
PS - am glad Papa Francis has decided to stop being so bloody PC. When it comes to Jews/Israelis or Arabs/Palestinians, we know which of those two are our friends/cousins - and which of them have been our sworn enemies for 1400 years. No, of course you can't make general statements like that and indeed I have both worked and socialized with Muslims and their faith was neither a reason for - nor a hindrance against - rubbing happily along with them although it should be said that neither were any of them fanatical. That simply WOULD be too problematic and if that makes me a bigot and because I don't want to "listen to others" "walk in their shoes" or "respect their boundaries" who (or which), having investigated them and taken the time and trouble to learn about them - if having done all that plus considered my own camp's weaknesses and areas for improvement (Mr Mearscheimer and Mr Chomsky please take note) - and decide I really don't like one side or the other well, that's the end of it. You can lead a horse to water..... suffice to say the equine opportunities for guzzling water have come and gone too often now. Even some of the former colonialised nations are now recognising at least PART of their future is in their own hands and irrespective of their past feelings and perceived wrongs, compromise HAS to be made. And sorry, but the more powerful party gets to direct the negotiations and their outcome. Palestinians have had multiple decades to come to terms with Israel's permanence and it's high time they shut up about 1947. Having, like a cartoon villain, attacked Israel hundreds of times over the last nearly 80 years - and utterly failed to make a dent in her - it is about time they stopped the whole Grand Vizier machinations with other Arab failed states - and Russians and Chinese - and slowly by slowly built up enough trust the neighbours and the political West to expect to be let back into the club. I feel sorry for those who don't want these shenanigans but sorry - we're in a joined-up world now - you and enough of your friends, neighbours and workmates don't like something much - it's incumbent on you to urge change. Don't just act like sheep and goats - you'll just end up slaughtered, skinned, eviscerated, butchered into some chops and Sunday roasts and stews, chewed up and introduced to the sewers in a modified form which makes rising from the dead seem even more unlikely than the form in which it is presented in the scriptures 🤣🤣 So don't just stand around looking gormless and with doe-eyes say "we don't agree with the government" and expect to get much sympathy. While corrupt, psychopathic, hypocritical fakir gangsters are ruling the country - you're doomed. It's even ok if you're one of the significant minority which agrees with Hamas and Islamic fundamentalism - great! You can be more easily seen and targeted - so, you're doomed.
The Pope didn't say that in so many words but it was no accident the Holy See had no plans for a meeting with Palis and even though they're not really Catholic sorts out there, the cleverer ones will objectively have read the signs and understood. There is simply no other option for Pali than to stop picking the scabs, blubbering and getting snot everywhere - suck it up, grow up and be part of the world. Even the Pope has now said so😏
Who knows, perhaps His Holiness will be simultaneously emboldened to put down the quill and vellum - enough with the hand written Latin documents already (nobody reads them!!) - for sufficient time as to be able to make a similarly unequivocal statement or gesture on Russia/Ukraine....

Genoside of Palestinians. In every single sense and scenario the Pope would never lightly use that word and had he meant it, he would have said the very same through Western translated speeches or writings. Don't so glibly slide over this as if the Gazan accusation can accurately be attributed to the Pope. That needs a slurry of vetting and proof perhaps by approaching the Pope himself to verify or not. The Pope is not going to say one thing to the Gazans that he has not said to the Israelis. We would have heard it loud and clear if the Pole had called the actions of Israeli forces as genocidal. And we actually NEED to know this. It is time to CALL OUT Gazans who speak for Hamas because they do so at the expense of their fellow citizens.
