Abuse is abuse....has nothing to do with mysticism one way or the other ! Prosecute him on the abuse...do not let him invoke mystcism in his defense !

yes but what about book by Cardinal Fernández - ironically he's mentioned, as presenting new policy - which features graphic erotic passages on ‘spirituality [we can say mysticism] and sensuality’ ? - to be fair, he has distanced himself from that work, says it's from another era in his life, and was meant to be a pastor’s catechesis for teens and not theology. about Rupnik, agreed, it's more clear-cut, and involves actual actions with people - as for Fernández, I think people have cut him some slack and hopefully this is now a non-issue.

As opposed to "true" apparitions? Which can't be verified, of course.

I thought the rainbow flag with "Pacem" written on it might have gotten a mention...

Why would anyone ‘change the channel’ with cha cha china! John is a scream. Talk about making boring topics interesting. Keep up the good work John. Love his personality…another Cardinal Dolan without the title.😊😂🤣

I have a question that few will ask: If the Pope is keeping a heavy schedule as he did at Verona, when is he praying his breviary?

The morning or the evening. Catching up on and anticipating the Divine Office is standard practice for anyone whose vocation isn’t monastic

I love the background image! And was really looking forward to hearing your take on the Vatican changes to supernatural apparitions. I knew you would help make sense of it without letting an emotional agenda color the information.

Smoochy's summary is that some ghostly tart speaking to low-life kiddies isn't the basis to challenge Supreme Executive Papal Authority.

Referring to to the IDF as “the Tel Aviv army” is not just a “Catty” way to refer to the Israeli army. As the official Vatican newspaper knows full well our archenemies refer to Israel as the “e Tel Aviv regime” this being a deliberate insult, an attempted put down to show that the Jews cannot really return to Jerusalem nor do actually govern it. It doesn’t matter that the United States embassy and others are situated in Jerusalem or that all our instruments of government from the Supreme Court to the Parliament itself are all in Jerusalem- people who dislike us and particular dislike the fact that we are there as masters of our own fate- like to refer to us in the way that the Osservatore Romano deigned to refer. As this is the official Vatican newspaper this does not bode well for the mutual respect that is the necessary fuel for continued Jewish-Catholic dialogue. This and other regrettable incidents brought about by the Catholic Church and its prelates in Jerusalem itself raise the specter of a return to a hostile Catholic Church which it has been traditionally over the last millennia. This will be great loss not only to us Jews but also to many Catholics . One last point about Father David Neuhous who went to the same school as I did when he and I shared a Jewish identity-it is a shame and a pity that inasmuch as he has now become over the last decades a fervent Catholic -which I respect greatly because one has to respect when a person leaves his birth religion for another religion if that is where his heart takes him - he decided also to adopt an attitude tinged with the hostility and the disdain that the church had always evinced towards Jews. This is not only intellectual dishonesty it is also a twisting of historical facts to suit that emotional attitude towards his former compatriots and coreligionists. It is to be greatly regretted and in light of the senior position that David Neuhaus now holds in the church it should not be underestimated or played down. Shame!

I understand the aspiration of the Palestinian people is the West Bank? God gave them that land. Israelis and Palestinians do live together in peace. Terrorists keep interrupting.

    • @timhaley3459
      @timhaley3459 28 днів тому +2

Actually, God did not give the ' the Palestinian people the West Bank ', but was part of the land of Canaan given to the new nation of Israel in 1473 B.C.E. (Gen 12:5), when they finally arrived there after trekking through the wilderness for 40 years (Num 14:26-34), that went from the wadi of Egypt as the "southern boundary" to "the western boundary will be the Great Sea (or Mediterranean Sea) and the coast".
The "northern boundary" was "from the Great Sea" (where the wadi of Egypt empties into it) all the way to Zedad, tentatively identified with modern day Sadad, some 65 miles northeast of Damascus, Syria, as well as Lebo-Hamath (close to modern day Lattakia, Syria, just south of the Euphrates river), and the "east......border will extend to the Jordan and its end will be the Salt Sea (or Dead Sea). This will be your land and the boundaries surrounding it."(Num 34:1-12)
At Genesis 15:18-21, God, whose name is Jehovah (see Isa 12:2; 26:4, KJV), told Abraham, while in a deep sleep (Gen 15:12), that, "to your offspring I will give this land, from the river (or wadi) of Egypt to the great river, the river Eu·phraʹtes: the land of the Kenʹites, the Kenʹiz·zites, the Kadʹmon·ites, the Hitʹtites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Rephʹa·im, the Amʹor·ites, the Caʹnaan·ites, the Girʹga·shites, and the Jebʹu·sites."
So, the land that the Palestinians live on, was given to the nation of fleshly Israel, but when they arrived in 1473 B.C.E., was inhabited by the Philistines (see Gen 21:32-34, in which "Abraham (2018-1843 B.C.E.) stayed in the land of the Philistines a long time", who became a warring people, so that Jehovah told Moses to have the Israelites avoid any confrontation with them in 1513 B.C.E., see Ex 13:17, and upon entering the land of Canaan, never of themselves annihilated the Philistines, just dwelling next to them in the western part of tribe of Judah, Judges 1:17-19) in which "Palestine" is the Greek word for Philistine.
The Encyclopedia Britannica (online) states: "The word Palestine derives from Philistia, the name given by Greek writers to the land of the Philistines, who in the 12th century bce occupied a small pocket of land on the southern coast, between modern Tel Aviv-Yafo and Gaza."
At Genesis 10:13, 14, it says: "Mizʹra·im (son of Ham, grandson of Noah, Gen 10:1, 6) became father to Luʹdim, Anʹa·mim, Le·haʹbim, Naph·tuʹhim, Path·ruʹsim, Cas·luʹhim (from whom the Phi·lisʹtines came), and Caphʹto·rim." At Jeremiah 47:1, 4, it says:
"This is the word of Jehovah to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Phi·lisʹtines, before Pharʹaoh struck down Gazʹa.......Because the day that is coming will destroy all the Phi·lisʹtines; It will cut off from Tyre and Siʹdon every remaining ally."
"For Jehovah will destroy the Phi·lisʹtines (being his enemies, along with the Amalekites, see Ex 17:8-16, with both seeing their extermination as nations), who are the remaining ones from the island of Caphʹtor (usually identified with the island of Crete, that were the remaining descendants of the Casluhim, when they were "run out of town" by the Caphtorim, though "brothers", and fled to the land around the Gaza strip)."
The people inhabiting the Gaza Strip today are not the Philistines, for they were annihilated by Jehovah and died out (and deservedly so), but a body of Islam people now occupies it.
