That eerie, massive, concrete structure with the heliport has some really funky graffiti. One bit was a quote in Russian: Непоправима только смерть - С. Довлатов, which translates to "Only death is irreparable" - Sergei Dovlatov. Really cool, atmospheric place.

Yeah old abandoned buildings can be quite eerie but also fascinating. In my city there is an old abandoned Powerhouse that has been totally covered in murals, artwork and graffiti. I went a few weeks ago and got some drone footage and done a walk-through. Feel free to check out the video I uploaded if you are interested.

Tallinn is so special for me 💙 I was an Erasmus student there in 2016 and those days were the greatest days of my life. If you have a chance again, please go back Tallinn in summer, especially in June, it is wonderful. The information about young people drinking beer in Linnahall is also very true, me and my friends used to drink our beers and watch the neverending sunset in 3 a.m. at Linnahall. I really enjoy your videos and I realize how much I missed Tallinn. By the way I can recommend The Living Room Cafe and F-hoone for good(also cheap) food and Kehrwieder for a different coffee experience. Thank you guys for the nostalgia.

Well, that big building isn't exactly abandoned but yeah, it's up for dispute so to say. It is really the only hall in city which was built for a single purpose - concerts. All other places where concerts and shows are held have other functions too, like sports events and so on. At the end of Soviet occupation there weren't exactly that many concerts going on and with the change in powers and leadership, that place didn't receive money and degraded into poor condition. Later on other places were built and used but this place remained unused, since it would have taken quite a lot to fix it up and also, to many it was still a symbol of "old regime". There have been talks about taking it down to free that property for something else, but there are still arguments that it's the only purpose built concert venue and thus should be restored, that despite being a symbol of a bygone area it's still kind of a landmark and should be preserved and so on. But aside the talks no one has really taken up any work on it, due to the sheer amount of money it would require, plus there are limitations what can be done about it's design to "keep its known form" and all that. And other stuff as well. So yeah, there are talks but no decisions about it yet and thus it kinda sits there. Oh well, hopefully one day the "powers that be" get their minds made up and actually do something about it. Anything, as long as it's either fixed up or taken down, not somewhere half-way.
