No Good Queen Goes

- In this video I find out that the queen is only laying drawn eggs. She is a queen for last year. This is what I had to do to try to salvage the colony at this point.

Don't you just love those drone laying queens?! Had one last year that messed up three boxes of wax foundation comb. Laid it up good and me thinking I had a good laying queen until the next inspection when I found all that capped drone brood.
Yeah they can make a frame look ugly pretty fast.
Mr. Rawls you are the only other person that I'v seen drop a dead queen in the hive. I do the very same thing, and like you I believe it puts them to work making a new one a little quicker. Good video
Im not sure what happened to my first reply. Unless I need the dead queen for swarm lure I always do this. Thanks
It happens Joey. To bad you didn't have a frame with some swarm cells ready to cap. No honey from that hive this year. Oh well you can't win them all. Have a great day.
Weeding out the weakies 😢 Mug up from central New Hampshire where it is 34° and looking like a blue sky day. Temps are predicted to rise to the upper 50s, I wouldn't be surprised to see the low 60s. I will be in the bees today. Thanks for sharing, have a great day!
That is a long wait... Georgia is months earlier 😢
Im glad you are now able to go in the hives. Have a fun day.
Good video my friend, I really enjoy all your videos
Thank you.
That’s interesting Joey .. I might have to do that to one of mine.
I have seen it happen a few times over the years.
00:08:25 Those broods came from another strong hive with little food?
No, the broods came for other hives that had too much brood. At that time of the year I pull all but four broods out all my double deeps and make nucs with what gets pulled. The hive that I leaned to food frames on, notice the lid upside down, is the one that I said could use the food. They were not starving but just had the room for the two extra honeys. Good question. Thanks
Good find and fix.
Thank you.
Joey, that happens to everybody at some time. Glad you caught it fairly quick.
Yeah it was about to get messy. Thanks.
Very educational, Thanks for sharing man, i need all the knowledge I can get.
Im glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
frames as frisbees 😃... Bees🐝 do throw issues. Glad you had solutions. Bee 🐝Blessed!!!
Thank you.
I missed why she was a bad queen. Not laying or laying just drones?
She is laying drones on worker cells, an extremely spotty pattern. This suggests that she was not well mated and ran out of sperm, laying just unfertilized eggs now.
She went sterile at some point and was only laying drone eggs.
She went sterile and was only laying drone eggs.
I’m surprised you don’t have any resource nucs to fix issues like this. I run about 10 resource nucs. Thanks Joey!!
I guess this nuc was. lol All my resource hives are in the main yard. I had this nuc and a couple more on the truck so they worked just as well.
She's not a bad queen.bees are going to do what bees do.people listen to other people that have no idea what they're doing.to bad a lot of people dont do some kind of research of their own,but quick to listen to the quote on quote professional bee keepers which there is no such thing as a professional bee keeper.some queen make drones for other colonies of bees which has the different pheromones.simple minded people think killing a queen is going to help them when all they have to do sometimesnis just move her to a new box and let her do her thing.but llet the quote on quote professional bee keepers do what they hear
Thanks for watching.
