- Hurricane Helene is forecast to make landfall as a major category 4 hurricane in Apalachee Bay, Fla. between 7-9 p.m. Thursday with winds of 130 mph possible.

I've seen a couple of people saying this, and I guess that we'll never really know if it will or not. It seems to me that if its likely to come in at a CAT2, then surely, a CAT1 is possible as well, but that haven't been mentioned yet. So, I'm like doubting these guesses, but I'm still assuming that they're not shots in the dark...

@@PyramidCoder I don't worry until it's a good cat 3+ I done a cat 5 what a rush that was. Live in Florida long enough you learn how to handle the storms. Don't be a rich fool and build on top the water stay back 5 miles + you will be fine. Just have generator plenty of gas water.pretty straight forward.

No evacuations, emergency shelters aren't prepared because they don't anticipate it to be too bad. A state of emergency has been declared by the County Commissioners in case there are any problems.

I live in South Florida 18 years I went threw a cat 5. Direct hit. This storm will be big but for me not the biggest. Florida very strong. ONE thing I will never agree with Florida is why people build ocean side homes then cry when they damaged. I am 6 miles away from beach never had any flooding. Florida good for most experienced people this is nothing major plan ahead they been saying for a week this was coming if I was in Tampa and North I would have left a week ago to bear the traffic. Either way iam having cold beer and chicken Parm for lunch. Even if the power goes out come one people get a camping stove. For South West Florida I think they over doing it. I got gas 2 days ago just in case. Good luck North Florida stay away from water you will be fine. Don't be the dumb asses in Lee County during IAN many died because they didn't the water was coming. Mind blowing. I think on every island before a hurricane the city should hang up body bags for people to see. Clear reminder what can happen.Just another storm Florida will be good in time... You see I knew the water was very warm and because the Summers have been warmer each summer it seems warmer the water is warmer and it gives open water at the the hurricane will strengthen and that's what the hurricane is doing right now as its a cyclone each rotation in the warm open gulf.......stronger the storm

Many people live pay check to pay check. They're lucky to get all their bills paid and keep food in the fridge. Exactly where do they go and how do they fund picking up their entire family and just leaving for 3 days? As long as you stay away from the initial storm surge, you're probably OK inland.
