    Fun video, Todd! Would love to see the finished fermented product a couple weeks from now, maybe you can include it in one of orchid videos, since it won't take up enough time for a separate one? Love that pickle jar, the lotus root and the way you tied the beans, nice touch! I'm gonna have to start making my own kimchi again! 🌱

      I love kimchi, it's a staple food...lol
      I had to be Asian in a past life.

    The design looks beautiful and the Lotus looks YUMMY!!
    It sounds easy but you just have to wait around for the small things to finish. Homemade i think I've never tried it. 🤔

      Todd's Tropicals That's awesome! I know how to cook Filipino dishes from my mom unfortunately I don't cook them too often as my husband is more of a steak and potato type of fella. I am especially fond of oriental food especially desserts....they are always interesting and so much fun to eat!

I'm hoping it won't be too long...they may not be alive that long...LOL!! PS I've included a couple of trees since you like trees as well. :)

    Hi Todd. You had all my attention, 100%, u n t i l ............"You can poison yourself and your family ." I lost the concentration, my thoughts drifted off and I wondered 'How else can I use that cute jar?' Lol. The lotus roots do give this recipe a yummy look. Keep those recipes coming.

      It seldom happens but they can go bad, so you have to watch the fermentation process is all.

    Hi! I started my pickle jar 3 months ago. It’s was doing good till I started to had white cast on the top. Some people saying it’s not bad. What do you think? Thanks!!!

    The lotus root does look cool. I saw vodka and cigarettes on the table and thought maybe you were having models over.😉

    • @toddstropicals
      @toddstropicals  5 років тому

      Unfortunately I am a smoker, I need to quit. The vodka helps to stop the "bad fermentation" and helps keep bad microbes at bay.

    How did the lotus root do? I’ve been meaning to try it, but keep seeing mixed reviews.

    • @toddstropicals
      @toddstropicals  Рік тому +1

      They're not growing so well actually it was hard finding the right potting soil for them. One is doing okay, but they should be 3-4 foot tall by now.
      I may try again next season but go on a road trip to find the right soil for them.

    • @toddstropicals
      @toddstropicals  Рік тому +1

      As far as pickling them it's just like any other root vegetable, I blanched it first in salted water.

      What about in this fermentation? Did they do well, and did you have to prep them?

    • @toddstropicals

      I just peeled and sliced the tuber and parboiled them about 2 minutes and they pickled just fine, and we're actually better than many of the other veggies pickled.

    The lotus root or bulb..can it be sprouted or has it been stripped of that. Just curious.I'd be hitting that vodka...Lolol😄 Does this taste like a sweeter or more like a reg pickles?
    Hope you don't wind up more pickled....😂😂 Love, Peace, and Pickle grease....😖 😅😅

    • @toddstropicals

      No store bought tubers never sprout, they're irradiated, and they remove the growing points. But I do have an edible lotus growing, it's space lotus number 36
