Good tips 👍 re touch paint so look new snow blower
Thanks 👍
Nice to see another Canadian doing a good job. We use exactly the same paint and have our local paint shop mix it up for almost always a perfect match. For our customers at Eliminator Performance that do not want to spend the money for repainting we charge a small amount to hit all rusted areas especially inside the auger housing with Rust Cure 3000 drip less corrosion and rust preventative spray. All mower decks are also treated with this and we have had great results over the last 9 years.
Thanks, I will try Rust Cure 3000. $15 at Canadian Tire and $22 on Amazon for 14 oz can
@@FRUGALWITHJOHN If you have a Peavey Mart or TSC in your area they regularly sell it on sale for $7.49 plus tax (50% off list). We normally buy 24 cans and that holds us for just over a year.
Peavey Mart is an hour drive for me one way. It may be worth the trip if the cans are 50% off, plus after checking online, I like to check out the store.
@@FRUGALWITHJOHN Yes check online or call them to see if they have any idea when it goes on sale, great stuff and good money maker for the business. Depending upon usage per unit we normally charge $3 to $8 Cdn for undercoating. All our vehicles also get this product undercoating at our local shop.
Using paint stir sticks under the auger housing to set the shoe height for a hard surface is a good tip.
The paint stir sticks are about the same thickness as the wear shoes, thanks for watching.
Hello John ! --- You did a very good job --- Did you apply the paint with a paint brush ?
I didn't thanks for watching.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to drill out my shear bolt that's broken off as even an air hammer had no effect on mine at all, but I'll take the auger out as the gear box needs new seals anyhow. Mine isn't missing much paint at all which is weird considering mine is a very old Ariens made in 1965 (10M4 ST424) I figured the few spots it was missing on mine I'd just sand down, put red primer over and then touch up with a spray can of Ariens orange. Afterwards I'll coat the inside of the thrower's impeller and augers, box, etc. with some fluid fill. I raised mine up on a couple of 1/4" ratchet extensions to drop my skid shoes with as my driveway is gravel and I don't want to sling the gravel into the yard along with the snow. If it were loose gravel I'd raise it higher but mine's pretty well packed.
Sounds like a fun project (except for the shear pin), good luck.
what brand of paint was used?
Same process as this video ua-cam.com/video/KBZz866UUQM/v-deo.html and same paint. Edit- I just rewatched the video (I did not think I would make a video with out showing the pant and paint code) I was correct. Watch the video, it shows what paint I used.
Odd you didn't show prepping or painting on a video about prepping and painting.
The video was about "how to color match" Prepping was just (pressure wash, quick scrape, maybe a wire wheel on a drill, rust reform, then paint.
What spray are you using to remove the oil residue?
I pressure wash the snow blower first then use acetone to clean it.
Ignore the instructions on adjusting the scraper bar. The 'paint stick ' should be close to working height from the plowed surface.
The adjustment is not one size fits all, you adjust according to the driveway surface.
