Inside me are two wolves. Wolf one, an insane media collector that wants it all, and wolf 2, a total minimalist that is calmed by empty space. Every day both wolves win, it's hell.
Also a media collector. I just try to keep it to the stuff I love, granted I love a lot ha. But when the shelfs get packed I do a little purge. Just look for ones I maybe like but don't love. Normally like once a year I try to go through and areas that seem to be getting jamed up. I just purged 10 board games to make some space. I have had those ones like 5 years and never played them. I did bring in one that I thought we would play, age of comics :) I was right my group so far has really enjoyed it. So I made space and got something that will get used more.
The optimal number of wolves inside you is zero. You should probably seek medical advice. Hopefully I was able to render some small help. You're welcome.
You are not alone. I am currently trying to decide if I want to keep my games or not. I am also leaning toward having someone copy my DVDs and putting them on a USB so I can watch movies on my computer and not rely on the internet or a TV. It is not easy to decide. I think a part of me is just scared that people will not believe me, if I say I like Greek mythology or Persona 4 golden, if I don't have a copy. Which is absurd, I have played persona 4 golden, the "prof" is the memories within me, not the limited run game in my box.
every time someone tells me they don’t like my vocal fry I say “and i don’t like your voice either” and they either instantly realize how rude they actually were or just get upset that I “insulted them” but at least we’re even now
The minimalists I've seen are into decluttering stuff to reduce work in maintaining a neat & clean household, not looking like IKEA rooms without knick knacks. I like my stuff, and I make it look nice without spending a lot.
"it's called frugal, it's call cheap, it's called poor" 🤣I felt that last one! Love your videos that are always filled with smart and funny commentary. Also love your voice so ignore those comments.
@kensiblonde4203 literally same. I'm middle class and my family has told me I'm unnecessarily frugal and stingy 😭. Meanwhile my fiancé's rich family thinks I'm smart 💀
The richer the people are, the more they are frugal. The goal is to be cash poor when you are rich. All your money is going into investments and you live off the interest your money makes.
100% , minimalism has gotten so performative and has this luxury bent. For me I’m a middle of the road person, former overconsumer. My goals are to use up all of the toiletries, books, teas, etc that I overconsumed and then become more of a minimalist, but i have lots of sporty hobbies that involve all different kinds outfits / gear so I’m not gonna be a minimalist like these tik tokers. Loved your video!
As another minimalist, I want to make sure you know, that you are a minimalist if that is what you want :) it is a tool, not a number. It is about making your life fit you. It gives you the ability to say "does this item still add good stuff to my life or is it time to say goodbye?" that is all. You can have as many hobbies and stuff as you want, from my point of view, as long as it works for your life and that you remember to check in with yourself and the items you have.
There is a difference between minimalism and underconsumption. Minimalists can easily get rid of things if they don't like them. They want the minimal about of stuff, often high quality. There are even luxury minimalists who own 2 luxury bags, 30 pieces of luxury clothes, very expensive furniture etc. Underconsumpion is about people who want to get maximum from what they already own, and they don't want to change it for something better. They even get creative with upcycling their belongings
You are right, but you are also wrong. As you say there are minimalist that focus on luxury, but there are probably just as many that just uses what they already have or focus on getting second hand when they need something new. It is up to that one person what kind of life the want to live, minimalism does not cut you off those paths.
Exactly, my home contains only things I love and need. I am shifting from purchased decor to memory based decor. My old table centerpiece was replaced by a lovely piece of driftwood I found on a special day with little tea lights. I don't have a ton of throw pillows but the ones I do have are bold colors.
I believe the key is to just be intentional about your life and purchases and general, quantity doesn't really matter, I believe the most important thing is purpose, intention, if you truly care about what you own and how the things you have make you feel.
@@teresachaotic.corner yassss haha I also feel like if you've hit that deep of a nerve with 2 different communities who are equally mad (for opposite reasons), you must be doing something v right lol
I identify as a minimalist and I understand why you say it must be aesthetically pleasing to be minimalist… but my mindset is that instead of buying cheap trendy decor, I am incredibly intentional about what I am bringing into my environment so how can I maximize the productivity of my belongings while also feeling like I have a beautiful space because I enjoy interior design.
I must admit i was severely UNPREPARED for both the "war" and the music that you imagined to FUEL THE WAR. I feel like I should subscribe for that editing alone. thank you
I feel like people who talk about minimalism rarely understand that minimalism is both a design aesthetic and a lifestyle. Not everyone who maintains a minimalist aesthetic is actually a minimalist in terms of their lifestyle, a lot of them buy a lot of stuff and just get rid of it soon after.
Teresa, what I love about your channel is that it can't be categorized. You can't be boxed in because you have so many interests and minimalist or not, your brain is cluttered with stuff! (mine is too, so I appreciated it!). I am neither a minimakist nor a hoarder, but I don't put myself in any specific category. I'd be very pleased to keep everything I have until I kick the bucket (not counting clothes and such) but I know that won't happen. In the old days (and i'm ancient so I can vouch for this) stuff lasted a very long time. If you had a television set, you got it repaired and it survived a looong time. Today stuff break and is replaced. I collect comc books (and write about the creators) but I've pretty much stopped buying stuff and have sold/gotten rid of/given away books I don't feel the need to have. I'm in the decluttering mode in this stage of my life, although I;m also a sentimentalist, so old cards, hand-written, person notes and other ephemera is usually kept. Also great to hear you're a movie buff. I love man types of movies and am pretty much a movie nerd, I rattle off directors, actors, cinematographers, etc, to the delight/consternation of friends. Finally, there is absolutyely nothing wrong with your voice. Couldn't even tell you had any issues if you didn't mention it. And I could also relate, since I had a phlemg-filled week! Continue on the path of algorythym befuddling posts!
awww thank you! ❤️ Stuff were definitely made better back then (with real wood!) and made with the intention of repairing them. I definitely see the quality difference in furniture and electronics nowadays as everything is manufactured with planned obsolescence. Sadly, repairing an item is not as profitable to companies as getting you to buy a new one every few years when the original item breaks. That's why I hesitate to get rid of older items now & try to find some way to repair/repurpose them. I think if an item holds sentimental value, I'll definitely keep them. I've made the mistake of getting rid of a few things from my childhood that I regret now. At the same time, I don't plan to collect all the jam jars and buttons that come my way;)
Teresa, When I was younger I would occasionaly take a tape recorder or Transistor radio apart and attempt to fix it. Sometimes I actually did. I have an old portable Zenith black and white TV from around circa 1967 that was my grandparents. It worked for decades until TV went digital. The only problem it had was a lot of static and I once took the back off and cleaned and vaccumed it. The sound was perfect after that!
So glad you addressed this, I think I found your channel through your DVD collection video. Anastasia was such a great movie, literally had not thought about it in 25 years. I like practice minimalism but I'm also a collector of things too. It really helps you refine your collection down to the real gems. Keep up the hilarious videos, I like your voice too.
I don’t normally like to put labels on everything as it gets unnecessary with most things. However, words have meaning, and there are differences between the different things. Poor is different from broke. Minimalist is slightly different from essentialist or underconsumption. Cheap is different than frugal. For example, if I can afford more expensive things yet buy the lowest cost items with subpar quality, that’s just cheap. Frugal is putting in effort to obtain the best quality for your standards yet in the most affordable way.
Underconsumption by definition is not buying enough to support what you probably need for your lifestyle. Minimalism says you buy what’s necessary for your lifestyle while knowing that will look different for everyone. Essentialism says you should have what’s essential for life but not anything above. Overconsumption is obviously buying more than you need or what you could realistically ever even use.
Honestly, I welcomed underconsumption as a TikTok trend. It wasn’t new to me as a millennial, who experienced and participated in minimalism in the 2010s. I grew out of it somewhen around 2018 and started carefully curating my style, my home etc. I‘m neither minimalist nor maximalist. And I think most people in the word are exactly like that. Overconsumption displayed on TikTok has made me dislike the app a lot, since every influencer just tries to shove useless crap down your throat. I‘m totally over that. „Underconsumption core“ however started to give major „I‘m not like the other girls“ vibes rather quickly. Oh look, I don’t paint my nails! Oh look, I only need two pairs of shoes since I don’t have a problem like cheesy feet. You get it - lots of people made it another type of competition, especially among women. It‘s sad that we can’t seem to find a healthy middle round.
I watched a lot of animal crossing videos around luck down, so anything "core" make me cringe XD the word was just used to much "norm core, farm core, halloween core, fairy core, city core..."
As a very sentimental person who calls herself a minimalist but is more of a sustainable 'maximalist,' this video made me laugh so hard. Thank you, subscribed! :)
minimalism - owning a small amount of items. the nature of the items you own or procure doesnt matter underconsumption - using what you have, ethically/sustainably dispersing or reusing what you dont, not buying extra. the nature of what you own and procure matters.
Good point about it seems like so many are trying to sell us something, minimalism as a product. Can you be a minimalist without wearing a black T-shirt though?
Your voice is perfect and I love how each of your videos are so specific 💜I feel like through those trends we approach the heart of the problem without directly adressing it. My guess is maybe we crave something other than overconsumption ? (like building community, finding fullfillment through learning and creativity for example)
Oh my god it's been so long since I've laughed out loud watching someones video - thank you for sharing your perspective and such refreshingly balanced takes AND and for calling things what they are
It is so lovely to hear from another person that they are also seeing extreme minimalism and think "I would like if I could do that". :) I know minimalism is not about the stuff, it is about making your life fit you and your lifestyle, but at the same time I dream of just packing a back pack and walk out
❤️ and I still find it soothing to look at extreme minimalist lifestyles even though I know that, realistically, I won't be able to have the exact same lifestyle. After my last move, I've felt the burden of the weight of stuff (even though I don't have that much stuff) and definitely dream of being able to pack everything up in an hour. I think the minimalist who police others on 'not being minimalist enough' really lost the spirit of what minimalism means.
@@teresachaotic.corner Probably not far from the truth. In shadow work we often realize that when we point fingers it is because we see something in others that we cannot handle in ourselves :) They might police us because they don't believe they can do it them selves.
Omg you are my favorite! I love both minimalist and hoarder videos! Sorry wacky, Gen X Gemini here… I am pretty much in the camp of whatever floats your boat and it is okay to change your mind. Do I love decluttering crap? Heck yeah! But do I love finding free stuff too?! Omg- yes!!! As one group goes extreme, the pendulum swings and another group will emerge. Grew up loving acid wash jeans, then they fell out of fashion and they became gross and now Gen Z scour every dang Goodwill looking for a pair of them. Eh, screw labels- just like what you like- try your best not to fall for too much social media crap (if possible) and be a good person. Keep making your awesome videos Teresa ( or is it Theresa?) - you are a delight!
Awww thank you! I think most people fall in the middle of the minimalist vs. maximalist mindset. I still really love watching extreme minimalist content as it's more of a fantasy to me. I also like to indulge in collection videos and a few hauls. People can't be boxed in❤️
I actually found you from you physical media video. I would never judge you for throwing them away or reacquiring them. But I did judge the hell out of the movies in your collection. 🤣
Oh my god the later part got me laughing out loud while shopping for food 😂😂😂 this is one of the funniest videos ive seen in a very long time, youre humour style is 11/10
Inspiring. I don't hate minimalists. I am a sports person that loves to go to the gym, go backpacking and ride my mountain bike. I could not do those hobbies without some equipment. My life would be super boring without being able to ride, backpack and workout. These hobbies allow me to be my phycical best and to live a happy life.
Minimalist because I'm poor 😂 and clutter is stressful. The only thing I want to be aesthetic is my money so I can afford food for my kid. That's it 😅 yep it's frugal living
My mom was a hoarder. It started after her dad died and not long after her younger sister did as well. The house was FILLED with stuff. I would try every few months to throw things and most times i succeded but she kept bringing stuff. Our house was also really small, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a kitchen-living space-washing space- entrance. It fwas filled to rhe brim. I was OBSESSED with extreme minimalist since i was 17 After losing her when i turned 21 i started to slowly hoard stuff and buy stuff i dont need. Its been a humbling experience. I dont remember what the point of my comment was whoops. So yeah i have been in both spaces and they're both overwhelming
I can relate! 😭 Same small house filled to the brim. Looking at extreme minimalist content was (and is) so soothing to me. Hoarding is a sensitive topic in my family. I hope to touch upon it in future videos. That being said, I'm terrified of slipping and turning into a hoarder. Hugs to you! 💕
@teresachaotic.corner I have noticed that if i, once a month or one every two months, sit down and really take in what I have I can donate a lot of stuff I don't need! It also makes you feel good because it were just trinkets and clothes but for someone else maybe they needed that 100%. Plus less places to clean haha loved the video and your content. Found you this morning when I commented and im subscribed now 💕
💖🥰 thank you!💕 I'm firmly in the camp of "items sitting in your closet goes unappreciated so why not give them a chance to find someone who can use and appreciate them?"
Thank you for the video :) I feel like commenting on your comparison of underconsumption to minimalism. Although one who considers themselves a minimalist can be part of underconsumption, the opposite is not always true. An underconsumptionist does not have to be a minimalist. I think there is more philosophical undertones to minimalism hence why it’s hard to say that underconsumption is a rebrand of minimalism. In addition, underconsumption focuses more on finding comfort in what you have vs minimalism finding minimal amount of items you can/ need to have your comfort. Hence in a sense to me underconsumption core is more inclusive but also less deep and a bit more inclusive due to that. Would love to hear your thoughts/ opinion on this take !
Just found your channel. Loved it.... It feels that I can relate more with people like you online that the hundreds that are on my close/"real" life. Suscribe and start bringing more of your videos. Huhs from Chile.
I don't just say this to counter the haters, but I really like your voice! By the way, your video about DVDs was the first one I came across from your channel and it reeled me in. And looks like the comment section is looking pretty good after all!
I am somewhere in between because I love collecting books but I don’t want clutter and a bunch of Knick knacks on my shelves 😂😂 I was definitely harmed by the minimalism culture and ended up regretting everything that I got rid of and every now and then I look at my house and think I’m a hoarder but as my mom says “You don’t have dirty diapers piled up in the living room so you can’t be a hoarder.” I don’t think she’s completely right or wrong with that statement but it makes me feel better 😅
I think most people can be minimalist in one area of their lives yet have a few collections that brings them joy. We who fall in the middle can't be boxed in❤️
Minimalism is super broad, it depends what you want to minimise, you can have 100 Stanley cups but if you're minimising colours then you probably have 100 green Stanley cups. I think underconsumption is just the other end of our average consumption; on average we just squeeze out conditioners then one day we can't anymore we throw the bottle away, overconsuming it is getting few bottles at once, then throw out bottles with still some left because it expires or smtg, then underconsuming is basically cutting the bottles up and using up every drop, maybe even cutting the proper amount be used by half, mixing with water etc
Whatever the current branding is I just call it conscious consumerism. I’m not interested in minimalism as an aesthetic. I like my books and trinkets and copious amounts of blankets. BUT I really try to consider the life cycle of anything I buy. One for the environment. But two for my own mental health and sense of gratitude. I think it’s a good thing when people reassess why they feel compelled to purchase something. I place little value on owning physical media like your DVDs, but YOU find value in it so that’s fine too!
It’s so weird that we can’t just be normal or in between or else some extremist with tell us we aren’t minimalist enough or maximalist enough. I don’t shop that often and I don’t define myself as minimalist because I also collect things that I bought occasionally. I just don’t find myself happy having 10 shoes. Shoes to me are just a thing to wear out so I only have one or two that I bought over the past 5 years for the season. My last winter boots last me 4 years till I recently gifted by my partner. (I requested for it because I prefer gift that is usable.)
I’m definitely not minimalist (absolutely impossible with children tbh) but trying to just cut down on things I don’t need or love so my house feels more manageable and I save money. I guess I’m just trying to be less of a consumer because it got to the point where buying things just feels empty most of the time. I’ve got everything I need really.
For me, minimalism is slightly different to underconsumption core. Underconsumption core (and lets face it, most of it is normal consumption - not under - under would be still using stuff that is broken and needs to be replaced or upcycling) is about using what you have. Minimalism is about having less stuff, not necessarily use what you already have. In fact, many minimalists focus on having fewer, but nicer items that fit their aesthetic. You can be a minimalist not not buying new nicer things, but you can also be one by doing that too.
This is a form of OCD. It is one way my OCD presents itself. I don't film it, but i obsess about how many things i have and i am constantly sorting, purging and assessing every item in my home. It is exhausting.
Compulsive Decluttering, Spartanism, or Ataxophobia (Fear of Untidiness or Disorder). For a few years, I think I had mild case of it, hence all the research.
It's not the voice haters are criticizing It's the message the voice is expressing. Looking for weaknesses, attacking, and hiding behind anonymity are troll maneuvers. More speech is the solution.
I struggled with being a minimalist because of the aesthetic! I’m a Japanese learner and I’ve watched the extreme Japanese minimalist she shows on the video and always there is an aesthetic (and a Mac 🖥️ and the last iPhone) and all of this made me realise it’s just an example of minimalist aesthetic or core and not the real life 😂
Aesthetics, aesthetics, minimalism aesthetics!!! I like your angle, Teresa. It's not what you hoard, it's how you hoard it. (Although in the end, you are what you hoard, right?) I'm definitely trying to trim the fat. Here in NYC, every square inch of one's apartment matters. In this regard, one can only accumulate so much before it starts to make a difference both practically and aesthetically. For this I"m grateful. I've also become of fan of those two guys who call themselves The Minimalists. They're the ones who taught me that things don't necessarily have inherent value. It's the value that you ascribe to the things that makes them hard to part with. Interestingly, my desire to sell off a bunch of DVDs (some still virgins, i.e., shrink-wrapped) is how I stumbled upon your channel in the first place. I believe I put something along the lines of "selling DVDs on eBay" in the search field and your "seller's remorse" video that you reference in this one came up. As a result, I now gleefully anticipate your biweekly installments. If you were to suddenly stop producing your content, it would make me sadder than when Trader Joe's discontinued their Mango Sorbet. ; )
Comparing me to Trader Joe's Mango Sorbet (though I never had it) is probably the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me! ❤️ Btw, in addition to extreme minimalist content, I love watching those Apartment Therapy videos about tiny apartments in the NY/Brooklyn area. I love seeing the clever and creative ways people use their spaces. The Minimalists are legends in the minimalism space. I hope I don't come off as having an ax to grind with minimalism/minimalist in general... I'm only pecking back at the mean ones who pecked at me 🤣 🐓
Consider it a compliment of the highest order. That sorbet* was reason enough to make the trip to TJ's just as your videos are reason enough to go to UA-cam. While I certainly don't perceive you as grinding an ax, I think that's the entitlement of anyone who is brave enough to put their self in your position. Sometimes the verbal equivalent of a sharp ax is necessary when one is in the public eye. (And if it's properly sharpened, you won't have to swing so forcefully.😂) _____________ *I have since, however, learned to make a fairly decent approximation of the product using an immersion blender and a recipe I found on line. I think this is a better alternative than having to join/form a support group to mourn the void created by the discontinuation.😀
Watching vids of homes where everything is neatly hidden behind copious cabinets quite relaxing for me, but I know I will not do that because I like seeing my stuff. I tend to enjoy collecting physical items, and I am also still using school supplies from 15+ years ago. I see no point in buying more writing supplies... unless they are extremely cute. I miss my years of stinginess because of my mental health, but I also know that my OC tendencies manifested in equally as stressful other ways back then.
I immerse myself in minimalism content and consider myself a minimalist-though, in a way, I might even be a maximalist when it comes to my minimalist habits. I’ve noticed that the most popular minimalist channels I follow seem to speak directly to those who genuinely aspire to live a simple, uncluttered life. Maybe the UA-cam algorithm has done a fantastic job curating just the right content for me, but I find that the channels I watch rarely focus on aesthetics. My own minimalist home is visually pleasing to me, and honestly, that’s all that matters. I’m not concerned with whether others find it appealing. My motivation for embracing minimalism is 95% driven by environmental concerns-because, yes, consumerism is wreaking havoc on our planet-and 5% by the desire to simplify my life. What I’ve discovered, though, is that minimalism has made my life exponentially easier. So, yes, I’m all in on minimalism, and I absolutely love it.
I'm with you. What if you have just a few streaming services and they don't offer your favorite films? If you have a DVD of your favorites you can watch them anytime.
The lamp ive had for 20 years recently died, had to buy another one from Walmart, hopefully it lasts just as long, might get a second one so i have a backup because i don't like using the ceiling light.
I tried minimalism. Got rid of 90% of my things. I was completely miserable. I've gotten things again over time yet you still paranoia you have to much now (even though I'm a nobody and no one knows how much I have except my kids lol)
I went through a similar phase where I wondered if I got rid of enough things. Now I inhabit a happy medium between 'things come in' and 'things go out.' Thank you for watching!
As part of our 2025 No Buy Core Year, I think we should underconsume eco swaps and journals. That will help declutter our brains of the minimalist mindset.
I don't have a ticktock account because of the constant ads, UA-cam has ads, Instagram has ads, UA-camrs promote their sponsors products. Everything is just one giant advertisement to consume All the time. And I have fallen back into the consumer trap and then oscillate back to being frugal and trying my hardest not to overspend. But it seems like I always overspend on groceries, food and Costco! Costco. We are not poor nor cheap but it is so hard to hold onto a hard earned dollar these days with subtle and not so subtle messaging to consume and buy! My husband has over consumption/hoarder tendencies while I am anti clutter and less buying. Husband is always online because he works remotely on his computer and has one screen on Amazon searching the sales while the screen is work related. 😂
Costco is my weakness. I never just leave with that roast chicken 😉 but I get so much joy every time I go in. And it's because of all the packaging from food that makes it hard to be as minimalistic in my household as I want to be. A few months ago, I tripped and fell into a pile of those boxes they give you at check out, which I frugally keep to collect all my recycling 🤣
Basically people are just waking up now and realizing they can't afford to keep buying useless shit online...and now doing what the rest of us have done for years - buying used, thrifting, making and growing stuff yourself and not maxing out our credit cards in now a new trend? Wow...
You sound fine! The internet is full of people just looking to be mean, like the 2 old men from the muppets show. Ignore it. I say just be balanced. I love movies, board games, and music. Each thing has its alloted shelf space and if it gets too full I purge some to make a little space. I want collections that are just the ones I really love. I just purged maybe 10 board games but I did buy one. I took out ones we never play, made some space, and then added in one I knew we would play more often. Age of Comics: the golden years is super fun!
I am the collector but why on earth anyone cares what someone else does in their own home/life is beyond me. I had a friend who said my collection stressed him out! It has it's own room in my house, just don't go in that room? I again have it all neatly on shelfs in one small room. Yes it is a modest collection around 2k films and 900 cds. But it is tidy and all has its spot on a shlef.
I dunno, frugality shares a lot of rooms with minimalism, and it's not an elitist stuff. You can make anything elitist. Aesthetic minimalism gets a bad rap, but is not, at its core, elitist.
It's silly how offended people can be by a total stranger living their life in a way that will literally never impact them. Like... why do you care so much about my 20 dvds? Go touch some grass, as the youth say. Anyway, keep up the great work.
Yes! I really see this at play. The moral superiority and how it should be a certain aesthetic. Poor people can be all underconsumption, but they won't be called that way because it doesn't fit into their aesthetics of beige colors and MacBooks.
The mention of your dad and his shirts is something I can totally relate to with my mom. She will literally wear the same T-shirts at home until there's holes in the armpits. It isn't like she doesn't have brand new clothes or anything like that. She just has that same minimalist mentality that if it ain't broke than why get rid of it? My dad on the other hand is the complete opposite. He wants New everything. It also doesn't help that my mom is also a bit of a hoarder, and will refuse to get rid of, or replace things, that she feels can still be used.
❤️❤️❤️ My dad is in the process of mending the holes in his 50 yr old shirts. I know if I buy him a new pack, he will think they are too precious to wear and continue wearing the old ones. My mom is very thrifty too, but she's definitely getting worse as a hoarder. I feel ya.
I don't like visual clutter in my home, that's why I don't have a lot of physical media or chachkes. Plus I have allergies and I don't want to dust all that stuff every day.
It's not the voice but rather the mic. Your maxing out your lav mic at times. A Behringer with an audio interface should help. Talk to someone into audio gear about it.
I think that if there are a couple of million minimalists on our planes, there are also a couple of million definitions of minimalism. Each of us lives in own reality. So, these are all just tags. Doesn’t matter how you call it. It’s not a precise science.
that TikTok mom literally feeds her toddler child marshmallows and candy for snacks and fast food as a meal. 90% of her diet that’s shown is heavily processed foods that will cause food addiction and disease. Both are bad but girl. She’s being harmful it’s not “villainizing”
Lol just me over here somewhat a minimalist but still kept my DVD collection lol I just put them in DVD binder? I don’t know what those things are called but I put all my favorite childhood DVDs and I kept them since like forever and even when I was a minimalist hard-core and I only had like 100 things in my entire house. I still have those DVDs lol And I’ll probably never get rid of them because I love them. They’re my childhood. They’re what I watch when I have my Internet go out lol they’re what I watch when I need that childhood feeling lol though I do miss my VHS tapes and kind of wish I hadn’t got rid of them, but they’re just so bulky and I don’t know lol
9:25 eeehhh no there's a lot more wrong with that woman than what you tried to point out. but she's a whole ass rabbit hole lol. for the purposes of what you're trying to illustrate it makes sense.
Your voice sounds perfectly normal to me. (You do sound like you have a cold, please take care ❤.) I would advice to have a look at your audio, I'm no expert so not quite sure where to look exactly, mic or editing, maybe playing around with gain... the audio of your voice seems to pop sometimes, feeling like a punch to my ears, that might be from holding the mic too close and/or exceeding its decibel range. Or it could be my phone 😅 hard to tell

The optimal number of wolves inside you is zero. You should probably seek medical advice. Hopefully I was able to render some small help. You're welcome.
Me with books and film I want physical media of 😭. I own very few things, but my film collection is growing
You are not alone. I am currently trying to decide if I want to keep my games or not. I am also leaning toward having someone copy my DVDs and putting them on a USB so I can watch movies on my computer and not rely on the internet or a TV. It is not easy to decide.

every time someone tells me they don’t like my vocal fry I say “and i don’t like your voice either” and they either instantly realize how rude they actually were or just get upset that I “insulted them” but at least we’re even now
👏👏👏👏
And what are they even talking about, I love her voice 😅
The minimalists I've seen are into decluttering stuff to reduce work in maintaining a neat & clean household, not looking like IKEA rooms without knick knacks. I like my stuff, and I make it look nice without spending a lot.
Painting ones walls can do amazing things
"it's called frugal, it's call cheap, it's called poor" 🤣I felt that last one! Love your videos that are always filled with smart and funny commentary. Also love your voice so ignore those comments.
awww thank you! 🥰❤️
I’m not poor. Just don’t want to spend money on junk that ends up in landfills and isn’t needed anyway.
@kensiblonde4203 literally same. I'm middle class and my family has told me I'm unnecessarily frugal and stingy 😭. Meanwhile my fiancé's rich family thinks I'm smart 💀
This...@@kensiblonde4203
@Summer_and_Rain minimalism sells luxury SOOO much "it's an investment"
Minimalism is simply not having a bunch of stuff you don’t need or use. It doesn’t have to be basic colors or perfect. I’ve seen videos showing this.
Exactly, my home contains only things I love and need. I am shifting from purchased decor to memory based decor. My old table centerpiece was replaced by a lovely piece of driftwood I found on a special day with little tea lights.
I don't have a ton of throw pillows but the ones I do have are bold colors.
Agree
I believe the key is to just be intentional about your life and purchases and general, quantity doesn't really matter, I believe the most important thing is purpose, intention, if you truly care about what you own and how the things you have make you feel.
The militant minimalist vs anti-minimalist rant towards the end is priceless 😂 more of that energy plz lmao
thank you!🤣 with great mocking power comes great responsibility. I wield this sword sparingly
Just subscribed. You’re funny smart and genuine and I was just laughing so much my husband wanted to know what I was watching 😂😂
Awww thank you! 🥰 You just made my day💖
Same!!!
I must admit i was severely UNPREPARED for both the "war" and the music that you imagined to FUEL THE WAR. I feel like I should subscribe for that editing alone. thank you
🤣thank you! ❤
Teresa,
what I love about your channel is that it can't be categorized.
Stuff were definitely made better back then (with real wood!) and made with the intention of repairing them.
At the same time, I don't plan to collect all the jam jars and buttons that come my way;)
@@teresachaotic.corner ❤
Keep up the hilarious videos, I like your voice too.
thank you so much! 🥰
thank you🥰💖
minimalism - owning a small amount of items. the nature of the items you own or procure doesnt matter
underconsumption - using what you have, ethically/sustainably dispersing or reusing what you dont, not buying extra. the nature of what you own and procure matters.
not small. It is about owning what fits you and your lifestyle. It is a tool not a number.
@@Summer_and_Rain “minimal” quite literally means “small amount”
@@deliberatelydaedalian So words have never change their meaning. Minimal is up to the person themselves to define.
@@Summer_and_Rain it’s really not. having 20,000 things in your house will never be “minimal”. it’s not subjective.
to be a minimalist is to live in a curated, off-white gallery space ; living in a house you can't afford to furnish is unaesthetic poverty
I want to minimize the worry in my head about achieving minimalist status. So I’m good with my organized full closet 😂
Good point about it seems like so many are trying to sell us something, minimalism as a product. Can you be a minimalist without wearing a black T-shirt though?
ah yes, the iconic black T-shirt 🤣
Your voice is perfect and I love how each of your videos are so specific 💜I feel like through those trends we approach the heart of the problem without directly adressing it. My guess is maybe we crave something other than overconsumption ? (like building community, finding fullfillment through learning and creativity for example)
thank you! yes, totally... online trends = craving online communities.
Oh my god it's been so long since I've laughed out loud watching someones video - thank you for sharing your perspective and such refreshingly balanced takes AND and for calling things what they are
🥰 Thank you!
It is so lovely to hear from another person that they are also seeing extreme minimalism and think "I would like if I could do that". :)
I know minimalism is not about the stuff, it is about making your life fit you and your lifestyle, but at the same time I dream of just packing a back pack and walk out
❤️ and I still find it soothing to look at extreme minimalist lifestyles even though I know that, realistically, I won't be able to have the exact same lifestyle.
I appreciate your perspective and comments. It gave me pause and I'm like that's true. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you the best.
thank you so much for watching! ❤️
my movie collection is indisputably awesome 😉
i LOVED your parting words, truly a masterpiece. 😼😸

Inspiring. I don't hate minimalists. I am a sports person that loves to go to the gym, go backpacking and ride my mountain bike. I could not do those hobbies without some equipment. My life would be super boring without being able to ride, backpack and workout. These hobbies allow me to be my phycical best and to live a happy life.
i think you are my favorite youtuber.
thank you! ❤️
Minimalist because I'm poor 😂 and clutter is stressful. The only thing I want to be aesthetic is my money so I can afford food for my kid. That's it 😅 yep it's frugal living
I like that you’re talking into a rose 🌹
thank you! It's my jank DIY mic. I guess that's underconsumption core 🤣
I want to be a minimalist but it always just involves me cleaning up/moving my stuff around or hiding it only for it to gradually reappear.
same!
I like how you handled this situation😄
thank you!
Just found your channel. Loved it.... It feels that I can relate more with people like you online that the hundreds that are on my close/"real" life. Suscribe and start bringing more of your videos. Huhs from Chile.
awww that means a lot to me! Thank you so much! Your comment made my day❤️🥰
there's nothing wrong with your voice gurl
I don't just say this to counter the haters, but I really like your voice! By the way, your video about DVDs was the first one I came across from your channel and it reeled me in. And looks like the comment section is looking pretty good after all!
Awww thank you! ❤️🥰
We who fall in the middle can't be boxed in❤️
You can totally adjust minimalism to your lifestyle, remember that it’s not an exam, there are no wrong answers 😊
You’re hilarious! I’m subscribing asap
💕🥰 thank you!
Me too girl 😅😅 it's so therapeutic!
This was chaotic and I loved every minute of it
I’m definitely not minimalist (absolutely impossible with children tbh) but trying to just cut down on things I don’t need or love so my house feels more manageable and I save money.
Lol. I also try to be minimalist but Love collection certain stuff. I still consider myself frugal ,minimalist . I just do what's right for me.
Dang that really hit me , thank you
thank you so much for watching! ❤️
It's not the voice haters are criticizing It's the message the voice is expressing. Looking for weaknesses, attacking, and hiding behind anonymity are troll maneuvers. More speech is the solution.

9:34 love the transition!
I struggled with being a minimalist because of the aesthetic! I’m a Japanese learner and I’ve watched the extreme Japanese minimalist she shows on the video and always there is an aesthetic (and a Mac 🖥️ and the last iPhone) and all of this made me realise it’s just an example of minimalist aesthetic or core and not the real life 😂
I started collecting my favorite movies in dvd again too!
Btw, in addition to extreme minimalist content, I love watching those Apartment Therapy videos about tiny apartments in the NY/Brooklyn area.
(And if it's properly sharpened, you won't have to swing so forcefully.😂)

*I have since, however, learned to make a fairly decent approximation of the product using an immersion blender and a recipe I found on line. I think this is a better alternative than having to join/form a support group to mourn the void created by the discontinuation.😀
I have more than 42 games consoles 😮 but I’m frugal everywhere else £9 on lipstick! Wow that’s a lot I don’t wear makeup 😅
You do you girl! Great video. Loved the "poor" categorization 😂😅
thank you! ❤️🤣
A nice opportunity to declutter your life from “friends” saying bs about your life choices 🙂
I'm with you. What if you have just a few streaming services and they don't offer your favorite films? If you have a DVD of your favorites you can watch them anytime.
Same thing with books, almost got caught in the idea of getting rid of my books for a kindle bruh
Hmmmmm…..I never knew my poor childhood would become a trend 😂
🤣
“QVC for Gen Z” is brilliant!😂
🥰 lol thank you!
Wow...
Idk why people are hating your voice. If u close your eyes u sound identical to megan fox, one if the most beautiful women of our lifetime.
aww thank you!❤️
You sound fine!
Thank you! 🤣Seriously, right? It's not like your collection is going to bled into his house and clutter up his living room.
Minimalism smacks of elitism and is the domain of the well-to-do.
Yes, I fnd it to be a "I am rich" thing.
I dunno, frugality shares a lot of rooms with minimalism, and it's not an elitist stuff. You can make anything elitist. Aesthetic minimalism gets a bad rap, but is not, at its core, elitist.
“You’re not a true collector” what? 💀 oh no, guess I have nothing left to live for
I actually DO only use one lotion for my entire body and it's CeraVe body lotion.
Never apologize for the vocal-fry!!
🤣I still get a bunch of people (mostly dudes) heckling me about it. I've determined chronically online guys are obsessed with voices.
Omg saw that upsetting video a while ago made me buy my favorite movies ❤❤😅... but this video I loved and I subscribed immediately ..❤❤❤
🥰 thank you! ❤️
Do some of these so-called ‘extreme minimalists’ clean out one room of the house and pretend to pare down? Just wondering. 🤔
Sometimes I wonder too. Like the apartment could be a studio for all we know. Or the stuff could be piled in another room
I agree, there’s a lot of virtue signalling here with unrealistic minimalism and very expensive belongings
How exactly does living in the suburbs figure into this besides needing a car?
I think if I'll give myself 5 years to declutter then maybe 100 items is the minimum I can do
that TikTok mom literally feeds her toddler child marshmallows and candy for snacks and fast food as a meal. 90% of her diet that’s shown is heavily processed foods that will cause food addiction and disease. Both are bad but girl. She’s being harmful it’s not “villainizing”
I'm so happy I clicked this video ❤😊
thank you so much for watching!❤️
lol
The ultimate minimalist is the primitive man who just walked around in a loin cloth - spear & water retainer in hand:P
Your voice is just fine.
9:25 eeehhh no there's a lot more wrong with that woman than what you tried to point out. but she's a whole ass rabbit hole lol. for the purposes of what you're trying to illustrate it makes sense.
Your voice sounds perfectly normal to me. (You do sound like you have a cold, please take care ❤.)
I would advice to have a look at your audio, I'm no expert so not quite sure where to look exactly, mic or editing, maybe playing around with gain... the audio of your voice seems to pop sometimes, feeling like a punch to my ears, that might be from holding the mic too close and/or exceeding its decibel range. Or it could be my phone 😅 hard to tell
