It's missing in the game because Link is repressing this memory
@Nepho doesn't quite look painful
Zelda: Why are you acting like a weeb, Link?
Link: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That is because Zelda told Link that she was pregnant.
He doesn't want to remember his weeaboo stage
Yeah, but he doesn't get the Hero of the Wild gear till after he completes all 120 shrines.
my theory: the picture is just game developers messing around and forgetting to take it out of the files
They probably just wanted to see what the fans would come up with
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that the devs were just bored, maybe it’s an inside joke or something
That's what I was thinking as well not really anything useful just things that game devs would probably would do after finishing the game itself!

Fun fact, if you take a picture of the final memory while in the hut, you will actually pull out your Sheikah Slate and look at it when you find the spot. While if you don't do that you will just think hard then the cutscene will start. Know this because on my first playthrough I did this.
I did that too.

I thought you had to take a picture of the painting in the hut for the memory to work 😅
I took a picture of it before it was revealed to be the final memory since I figured it might be relevant later.

They're just goofing off. Link is pretending to be a Yiga. It's a fun selfie.
My thoughts exactly! Whether it was before or after the story takes place the two of them grew close, it wouldn't surprise me if they had fun and decided to dork around
But... who took the selfie?

Certified Purah moment truly
What if it was a "new memory" that was going to be in a cutscene of Link and Zelda at the end, just goofing off after beating Ganon? It would help Link's outfit make sense, even if Zelda's doesn't quite fit
I think thats it actually
I think so too, the post 120 shrines cutscene might’ve been of Zelda and Link having fun around Hyrule. Since from Maz Koshia we see that most of the Yiga Clan’s abilities are taken from the Sheikah, maybe this would’ve been depicting Impa or another character from Kakariko teaching Link a special technique while Zelda tries to surprise him
My other theory was that this was a memory of the hero and princess from 10,000 years ago stored within the Sheikah Slate itself, it’d make sense if the wild set and the slate was owned by this past hero
He mentions this idea in the video.

@@irishmanfromengland25 To be completely fair, the image IS from before the full game was polished, because of link's "tunic of the wild" outfit being a little outdated. It could be a mock-up version of the whistle (?)
Honestly I suspect this was just a memory that was scrapped, the Wild set is obviously a reference to the way Link dressed in previous games, its not unrealistic to say he would have access to them before the calamity. Its also possible that the armor and pose was just a placeholder while they worked on the actual memory, before ultimately scrapping it.
Zelda looks like shes playing around or having fun, possibly sneaking up on Link while hes training in his more casual clothes. I suspect this scene would have existed to show a more lighthearted side of their relationship, which is noticeably absent in most of their other memories. Its also possible that this image shows Link and Zelda together to demonstrate the self portrait feature, which I find it hard to believe Zelda would never have used...
I like that picture, it looks like they are just messing around
@Kristopher Dreemurr Not really. Resurrected Link can be pretty sassy and playful at times.
@Kristopher Dreemurr yeah the devs said that this is the most expressive link they've made so it isn't really out of character. Remember in the game when your taking photos link can do so many different poses
@Kristopher Dreemurr - also if this is finally after Zelda's apology and the time in her diary musing that he CAN talk a lot, I can see them sharing a fun moment like this. Especially if Zelda herself spoke of being tense or wishing she could just relax and enjoy herself. As he takes his service seriously, he would gladly take part in a playful pic
@Kristopher Dreemurr you must've missed all the seal puns he has made
Basically what everyone said and Nintendo of America is a bunch of dicks who took away Link's personality which we saw more of in the adventure logs, which were actually his diary. In Japanese the logs have link's thoughts, comments, etc., and is in his POV. Plus, they messed up some voice dialogue too. Not surprising since they have a bad translation reputation.

@@takemetoyonk Probably comes from the Kuji-In, a series of nine hand signs, matched with phrases, that ninja used to meditate.
but it looks to mee like the shadow possession jutsu... xD
True
I’m guessing it was just a joke for the devs factually, but canonically, I had the odd, stray thought that it might have been the Link and Zelda that we don’t know, the ones from 10,000 years ago, just goofing off. Maybe they took the picture then and, when the slate was found by the Royal Family and Impa & Co., it was secretly still sitting there really deep in the files. That would explain the Tunic of the Wild, since it’s 100% possible he had one of his own, which further explains the difference in coloring and slight design change between the one in the picture and the current one.
@DachKing Yeah good point.
I thought of something similar, but more with the thought, that this isn't really the Tunic of the Wild but some clothing just looking quite similar.
No, because each new Link & Zelda looks different.
What about Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, their Links are basically the same?
@@timothykidd3800 We don't know the relation between the Links, but Spirit Tracks Zelda is the granddaughter of Tetra, the Zelda of Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass.
its just link living out his anime dreams man- let him be
if im being honest its probably just the devs having fun and it just happened to slip into the files
I actually think this was reused in AoC, the scene where Astor is harvesting the souls of the Yiga members and Sooga is defending Kohga, there is a part that looks extremely similar to this shot, they put “Link” in the back and “Zelda” in the front but replaced their in game models with Kohga and Sooga... idk I could just be stupid
Went back to rewatch that scene from AoC and your absolutely right- both poses are almost identical (but with Sooga being in front of Khoga while Zelda is behind Link) and so they totally could've recycled the same animation. Neat catch!! Makes you wonder what Zelda would look like with 2 wind cleaver swords-
I think that this image shows Link trying to learn how to use his ability to slow down time, similar to the memory in the rain where he was training with his sword. This pose is often used to show that someone is trying to concentrate really hard.
In Daruk's training journal he wrote the following:
"The little guy is also incredibly strong! He said sometimes when he focuses, it feels like time slows down"
So Link had already noticed that he has this ability but he hadn't mastered it yet.
Zelda is smiling and looks like she's about to spook him, which makes me think that this was a late memory that was supposed to show how their relationship has changed and that Zelda isn't uncomfortable around him anymore, but happy and palyful.
Za warudo.......but Naruto jutsu....
Za Naruto.
he stops time in flurry rush
That is a really lovely and interesting theory, I would have loved to see how their relationship took that turn
This would have had to have taken place sometime after the game though, as Link is seen wearing the Hero of the Wild set. The set you get for beating all 120 base game shrines. It could be possible that this was supposed to be a special cutscene for beating all 120 shrines, however.
@@jordanertz3034 I think his outfit could simply be from an earlier version of the game and they never updated it as this memory remained unused in the end. Who knows at which point in the developing process this image was created.
"And link clearly isn't in his shampions tunic."

Well

It kinda looks like they're mimicking Nabooru's and Darunia's sage stances to me.
Maybe instead of being a memory from prior his 100 year slumber, it was meant to be a photo seen in the end credits of Link and Zelda goofing around while Link is in the Hero of Wild set that would only appear if you aquired the said set. Like a secret bonus for those dedicated enough to complete every shrine. However, that ended up being cancelled due to how this photo doesn't end up showing in the end credits. That's my theory.
Man that's a brilliant idea, imagine if there were photos of Link and Zelda goofing around post-game where Link wears every full set you own while the credits roll, and if you missed out on one full set then that photo doesn't show up or appears as blank
I like to imagine one of the developers was messing around with links posing and thought it would be funny to have him do the shadow clone jutsu pose, and accidentally putting it into the game files
