Well, looks like we'll be reaching 90k very soon! Thanks for all the support this past year :) A few things: I got the date wrong, the video said March 8 when that was yesterday. But technically this video WAS made then. Also, I forgot to bring up something else. What's interesting is how Zelda first addresses Link by "him" or in the case of memory 3, "hero". Later on as she gets closer she ends up using his actual name ;) Also, I apologize that Mipha wasn't brought up much, but to be honest there isn't much else to add for her. I did a pretty thorough job on the previous theory with her. If you want to know her pov, the check out the video! It's linked in the description. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to get some sleep. Stayed up all night to finish this video, so kind of need to rest xD
Hey NBC I think I know why Zelda only awakened her powers when Link was seriously hurt. My thoughts were that before that moment she was unsure of her feelings towards Link.
The fact that Link has a personality change after 100 AND decides to write his quests in the Slate and commenting on them is a gigantic character evolution for him. Also, "I want to see her smile again" Oooff right in the feels.
Also the scene with the Deku Tree. It's very read between the lines, but she says to the Deku "will you tell him...That I...", and he stops her and says, "wouldn't something from you sound much better in the tones of your own voice?" I 100% believe she was prepared to die and was about to ask him to tell Link that she loved him, and he basically said "no, you're not going to die. You're gonna tell him yourself."
I didn't think that she thought she was going to die, I just figured that she wanted Link to find out as soon as he could, but then changed her mind when the Great Deku Tree reminded her of the effect she would have on Link. "She has a smile like the sun. I would do much to feel its warmth of me once again."
@@warrioroflight6872 I mean rather have someone else tell Link that she loved him....hearing with her own voice just makes it more powerful. I mean she had such a loving expression on her face. So despite it was interrupted with the "I-" It's clear it was revealing her romantic feelings.
The spanish version of this scene is so evident. Deku interrups Zelda and literally say: “Princess... the most important words, the ones that come from the heart, are told face to face”. I loved it
Well, Demise DID cast a curse consisting of an incarnation of his hatred that would follow those who had the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... so in a way, Ganon is the result of zelda and link, or zelink.
@@antoniogoncalolancabrites8773 an ugly smile is a genuine one, as opposed to her faking it like the princess she is. nintendo knows it has to be ugly, even if us consumers wouldn't notice and prefer her faking it. the honesty is what makes it beautiful. Zelda has never smiled genuinely around Link before, so seeing her let go, not caring what it looks like, is sweet.
When you talk to Pikango about clues on the 7th memory (the one with Zelda and Link talking under the rain), there's a pair of small stone statues next to Zelda. Pikango says: "These statues... They look like a husband and wife embracing". I've always thought of this as a parallel of Zelda and Link's relationship, they're being compared to a married couple, which I find kind of cute.
this was a good video but there are still some points that were missed! in the japanese version, link writes twice in his quest log about how he thinks zelda’s voice is beautiful, and there’s also an entry where he talks about zelda’s beauty being unmatched when she was on her horse. additionally, when he finds out zelda was in love with him through kass’s song, he says, “i have taken in princess zelda’s feelings.” the text deliberately uses 想い and 想い出 and never 思い or 思い出. while both read the same, the meanings are inherently different in that the first two are reserved for matters of the heart over the mind. So when it says ゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った (literally, “i have taken in princess zelda’s feelings”), that’s tantamount to saying he accepted the memories of her and her emotions behind them. (additionally, it would’ve been good to bring up how link was able to open up to zelda about his burdens and wasn’t able to with mipha, as mipha writes about it in her diary. daruk’s and urbosa’s diaries also shed light on how close link and zelda were getting pre-calamity. ) there’s also more translations for the japanese quest log here: undergroundsky.tumblr.com/post/164820765851/13か所の思い出の地を巡りゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った-i-have-visited-and
NintendoBlackCrisis - But it makes no sense to gloss over something that is so essential to the main point you’re trying to prove, right? Those journal entries are integral to this video. I think if you wanted to reduce the time, you could have left out chunks of the summary of your older videos about this topic and presented more of the “new” evidence instead (which would have been delving into Link’s personal journal entries which are available online). Your content is great and I will become a Patreon patron as soon as I boot up my computer downstairs (I watched this as soon as I woke up lol). But I think your theory could have been a lot more solidified and closed by focusing more on Link’s feelings; after all, it’s his side that was always in question and not Zelda’s. Anyway, kudos for all your time and effort. You’ve definitely earned a subscriber and patron!
NintendoBlackCrisis that makes sense :-) i just wanted to point out some more info in the comments, since most people lurk the comment section while watching videos.
It's too late but man you know what gets me more? the fact that Zelda had no idea that her act of love would awake her power so in that desperate moment the only thing she thought could do was shield Link with her own body...and die ;-;
The fact Link wouldn't leave her side...and was gong to protect her no matter what the cost as well. Not just because he's her appointed knight. In it's own way it was like they would be together in death.
wow whaaat. Link actually writes in his journal? Jesus christ, Nintendo Treehouse what have you done? That's a pretty big loss in translation. The ending is indeed making way more sense now.
Dampf - this was a choice made by NoA in order to keep Link as a blank slate. Apparently they don’t think us Westerners can handle a Link with a distinct personality. >.
So, about the part where Urbosa says "take care of the princess... Oh and *wink* take care of hyrule". You interpret it as her implying that link will rule alongside of zelda when this is all over. While that interpretation makes sense, i must point out that you can also interpret it another way. And this way is JUST as awesome for the zelink shippers. But first, some context. Urbosa seems to reference link and zelda relationship in an extremely conspirational manner. The whole Urbosa memory, in her diary, Urbosas dialogue to link, etc. All in all, I think she began to see the pair coming together long before even they did. Urbosa has basically become zeldas mother figure almost. And like all mothers, she seems to see right through them. This comes to a head in the scene after TB Ganon. What I initially interpreted Urbosas comment to mean is that she knows/believes that the driving force behind links courage at this point is his desire to see Zelda again. You kinda confirmed this with the whole "links diary" concept about him "wanting to see her smile with his own eyes". What I'm saying is this. Urbosa KNOWS that link is anxious to get to the princess. And that THAT is what's driving his actions. Not necessarily the fate of Hyrule, (of course he cares but you get my drift). Which is why after she says "take care of the princess", she kinda throws in "oh yea... And hyrule too while you're at it" as if it's an afterthought. The wink basically calls link out like "yea don't think I don't know" kind of thing. Idk just my thought. If I'm over thinking it lemme know but that's just how I interpreted it initially lol.
Yeah i think the wink is pretty much like "oh and don't forget hyrule when you get Zelda" Like a friend pushing you up to get to the girl you're into and wiking "don't forget about us after you asked her out lol !"
To be honest that was the interpretation I had when first playing through the game. That she was implying the main focus here was Link going out to save Zelda. Saving Hyrule would just be a bonus.
"Is Bolson the reason the silent princesses are going extinct" *Me who has collected nearly a hundred silent princesses for no significant reason* : ⊙.☉
I seriously love the Zelda franchise, but at this point I would literally give my left eye for an ending where they are able to destroy Ganon once and for all (maybe free Ganondorf if the almost unbelievable happens and he really turns out to be the possessed hero from the prophecy) and just... live. Happily. (As a couple would be the ultimate dream of course.) Without having to worry about being reincarnated ever again. Just. A happy ending. Throughout BOTW they had to suffer so much, not to speak of the whole franchise. You could easily add other games which chronologically take place before BOTW, but I just need the knowledge that they eventually succeed and become happy. That their effort and all their sacrifices eventually pay off. The knowledge of all of their friends having been stripped of their chance of a happy ending is depressing enough. Personally I think it's time for an official happy ending in the timeline, and I also think BOTW really has the potential to be this happy ending. ^^'
@@Kydino What I mean is it doesn't change the game. The outcomes of situations don't change. The actions of the characters don't change. The characters don't change. The game is still the same. While the diary entries might add some insite to certain situations they aren't necessary to understand those situations. They are extra fluff. It would have been nice to have, but we don't need it to understand or enjoy the game.
Can we all take notice with the one memory of the pair looking at the silent Princess? Link is not doing his “duty” there, he’s crawling around with Zelda, paying attention to everything she’s explaining. Any sign to me that Link shows of his love for Zelda, is that in later memories once the two get closer, Link will let his guard down, turn his attention towards Zelda when he should be paying attention to their surroundings, and of course, he listens to her and acknowledges what she says. Sure, it just means they’ve gotten closer, but that one memory simply proves Link is more interested in Zelda instead of just doing his duty.
And if “he was just doing his job” why is every memory with her something. . . Wholesome? He never recalls the “saving” her parts except for the blades of the Yiga, but that was when she was upset at the circumstances between her and him. In the memory premonition, at the VERY BEGINING you see Zelda running her hands through his hair.. that’s not “friendly”. Not to mention, he SHOULD have left her to die in “Zelda’s awakening” as he was the ONLY one at the time who COULD save the world.
I like how the flowers design has one closed bud and one blossomed flower thats very beautiful. Its almost like the closed bud represents link and the blossomed flower represents zelda, despite their very different personalities, both are connected at the stem.
I really hope that Botw 2 expands on their relationship, i want to see atleast SOMETHING juicy happen, like an affectionate hug, or cuddle, or even a kiss. Zelda telling Link directly that she loves him will impress me :)
bruh im starving of their relationship, just seeing them traveling together in the botw2 trailer make me bawl. imagine the real deal, gonna squee to death by asphyxiation o my lord
Yeah no offense, but this theory is getting old. We know it makes fair sense, but what really made me click on this video was Ganon, do they equal ganon?
I noticed that too! I was browsing for Mipha art in pixiv (Cause I'm a huge Mipha fan but a Zelink shipper) and then I noticed the amount of Zelink art for Botw amidst the Mipha art. Even the ones with the MiLink pairings, there's an artwork of zelink stashed within the folder, usually showing them post Calamity Ganon doing domestic stuff in Link's house.
Janemba 112 dude it’s something they enjoy doing and if they want to share whats on their mind then they can I honestly don’t mind an really why are you even commenting on this video and even watching this video if you hate the shippers and are gonna say some negative and stupid shit like you just did you really need to stfu
I love how much Link looks at Zelda. In the game, the artwork, and especially the trailer for part 2. He’s checking on her a lot. Or maybe checking her out lmao
I have a little thing to say about mipha: When she asked him why he's quiet all of the time he simply shook his head, whereas when zelda asked they had a deep convo about it all. I personally think that means he grew to be closer to zelda than mipha. (Despite this they were still friends to a certain degree and maybe he was holding back feelings for her?)
It was due to the silent burden he had on wielding the Master Sword and being the princess’s escort. In Age of Calamity, this isn’t much the case. This is because Link didn’t get the Master Sword or get named Zelda’s escort until *much* later. So in BotW -> Zelink In AoC -> MiphLink
When this showed up in my recommended, I misread the thumbnail as "Zeltik is Ganon!" and thought "Huh, this should be interesting." Also, as per usual, I am a few months late.
Can't wait for a botw sequel Edit: 3 months later, the sequel is announced. My two favorite games are majoras mask and BotW. This game is going to be everything I wanted. POGCHAMP
I always thought that was what released Zeldas magic power. Her inner love for Link. They made it quite obvious throughout all the memories. How she resented Link at first, slowly warmed up to him & then risking her life for Link in the end.
Hmmmm... could it be that... since malice is fueled by hatred and anger, perhaps a good form of magic, the one our heroes use, comes from the feelings of love and joy
I always believed the Silent Princess to be representing Zelda's character, as Zelda states that they cannot get it to grow domestically, it can only bloom in the wild. I think this refers to the fact that Zelda feels her duties are pressuring her and would rather be doing what she loves, which is studying Shekai tech.
The director of Breath of the Wild is Hidemaro Fujibayashi. Who was also the director of Skyward Sword, The Oracles series and The Minish cap. All of those games contain Zelink. Btw there's also Daruk's Japanese Diary where he mentions Link is starting to like the Princess (In a more romantic way). The Japanese term Suki is used. "To like/To love". Also don't forget the Japanese Masterwork book where it mentions that both Link and Zelda's trust and affection for eachother grew.
@@anikamelle2682 it's difficult to source Tumblr but basically someone mentioned it there. A lot of the Japanese terms seems to imply Link's feelings for Zelda. For example Kass song he has taken Zelda's feelings by heart.
Skyward Sword came very close to Zelink but so far. They obviously like each other but damn Nintendo really made their most intimate moments at the beginning of the game huh- But those two were childhood friends. Makes me wonder if the other Zeldas spent more time with their Links, they'd probably get smitten too. Unpopular opinion but after that cutscene in Majora's Mask with Zelda, I felt like if Zelda wasn't confined to her chambers and spent time with Link, they could get romantically involved as there are moments were Zelda is very sentimental towards him. I wouldn't say the same for every other Zelda, just to be clear. I feel like TP Zelda is the only Zelda who doesn't really connect with Link.
I feel like my experience was robbed. I want a proper translation of the logs 😥😭 Link has grown as a friend to me, I don't want to project on him, I want to help him. Get to know him better. He my bro, and I want the best for my bro. Also, he's hilarious.
I always liked asking protags I play as if they're okay after getting hurt, and comment on npcs like we're gossipinng, as cringy as that may sound. It's been a running joke for me. I fought quite a bit with Link, he took many falls off of cliffs, and had many encounters with npcs too, so you can imagine how much fun I had with this game.
Personally wanting to see someone smile in a context like this is pretty romantic. It's also a lot of effort to show zelda's development as a character and her feelings for link if it was just going to be unrequited..
Actually it's because the shrine of resurrection has restorative properties and the inside of calamity ganon has preservative properties. Zelda allowed herself to be literally swallowed by the calamity. She's been inside him the entire time, preserving her body in its youthful form while fighting him from the literal inside. Link on the other hand, was basically lying in a pool of what's basically Wolverine juice: healing properties that are so effective that they basically stop you from aging as long as you're in it.
Jayz the Kid why u stealin mah comment? But it’s cuz he hasn’t been in a 3D game. Or any game since 2004. After MC, he just vanished. Gone. For decades.
And Malon. And Midna. And Ruto. And Sidon. And Cremia. And Nabooru. And Paya. And Ilia. And Peatrice. And Rosa. And Saria. And Bombchu girl. And the Maku Tree. Geez, Link.
I was kind of confused by the 4th possibility but now that I think about it. He was too reserved to have feelings or know he had feelings for Zelda but coming back after losing his memory. And seeing all the old memories. He’s in a different perspective and he realizes he did love her. Or loves her now
I feel that zelda and link is a symbol of true love. You may never see the two of them kiss, hand holds or be truly affectionate with each other but when you are truly in love with someone just being with them brightens your day.
@@Ninjapants237 What the hell? Literally every girl in the whole zelda and/or link franchise has had some feelings for link. That is still romantic feelings. The basic story aside from the Sheikah and Link saving Hyrule is with HIS princess Zelda.
Eventually time has to change. I want to see a new character as a decendant of Link...LIKE HIS SON. Maybe a game where Zelda and Link have children and the children watch both of them fall in battle. Maybe they awaken a new power that is stronger than the triforce itself to fight a new power stronger than the symbol of power. (try saying that 10 times fast)
Compared to this-what we actually got-I feel somewhat ashamed to have wished for them to do something as explicit as to kiss. A kiss would've been *a huge* deal in the context of the franchise but they managed to deliver symbolism with such a depth and clarity within a single game. *The only* thing wrong with the whole thing was the English translation.
Like at the ending of Breakfast at Tiffany's. That would be FREAKING INSANE!!!!!! It would also make me cry for HOURS, I cried for like 4 hours straight after watching Breakfast at Tiffany's. I have never had that reaction from a Zelda game and I hope I do someday so yeah.
You've never mentioned the dialog between the Great Deku tree and Zelda. For me it's pretty clear this is a love story "Japanese style". I'm not talking about just anime, have you ever watched Japanese doramas? They are exactly the same. They make you crave to see or hear how they love each other, and for me this story is no different. They have a red string tied in their pinkies and doesn't matter how much Ganon tries to break their bond/fate by destroying Hyrule, and everything else, it actually has the opposite effect.
I read something awhile back about the red string tied to their pinkies. Someone pointed out in the Despair memory, as their hands let go their pinkies are the last to part. Could maybe be symbolic of this.
I still don't get why some people think that Link and Sidon will ever go for each other. They show literally no sign of romantic interest in each other, especially since the odds of them both being homosexuals are very low. Link and Sidon are just good and loyal friends, and I am very sure that Sidon will be at his best friend's wedding to the princess of Hyrule. That is a very beautiful scenario. And before anyone decides to get triggered at me, stop and consider that I didn't insult anyone or say any untruths.
There's gotta be symbolism in the fact that one bloom of the Silent Princess is always wide open and bright, while the other remains closed and unopened.
Botw has really great symbolism. Even if the story isn’t as heavy, it does a great job of fleshing things out through more subtle methods. Honestly, this game really drives home zelink for me more than even skyward sword. Botw 2 looks like it might be story heavy so I think this version of them will only grow closer.
What do you have to do to get the complete ending? Get a 100% completion? I beat Calamity Ganon but I'm only 34% complete. I got the ending where she says "Do you really remember me?"
Shy_Swimmer im p sure for the complete ending you just need all memories, master sword, and the 4 divine beasts. im going for the 120 shrines rn just for good measure
@@elliemorgan1724 no, on my first plathrough i completed the memories, devine beast and got the master sword and got the complete ending. im actually pretty sure u only need to complete all the memories. but u defenitely dont need to complete all 120 shrines
If you read Mipha’s diary in the Kings throne room, you can see that her and Link’s relationship wasn’t as deep as it seemed. In her diary she recounts that she had met him once when he was 4 (or a young child age), one time after was knighted (when she caught feelings for him after seeing him grown). Then she heard that he had pulled the master sword and saw him again, where she described that he was much quieter now. They really hadn’t interacted much before Link became Zelda’s personal knight, which was only three times.
This honestly made me so happy to watch because it breaks down everything so perfectly that it makes sense. Now that it makes sense I can live happily knowing that Zelda and Link are a legit thing that was most likely intended by Nintendo. ❤️
But it just im sad they let it on a sort of cliffhanger leaving them to walk back to the horses and just ending the game thats mean. And i need more theorys.
@@writt3690 booooooy, I sure hope you saw the announcement! I hope they'll take the opportunity and really dig deeper into their relationship in the sequel
weirdly enough, it's the most "correct" move considering the protag was supposed to be as bland as possible so the player can be closer to him.that's also why he's link as stated by miyamoto. cause he's supposed to be the link between player and game.
@@unlimited971 yeah, but that's not what they want anymore. The creators havd change their mind and wanted a new direction. I don't understand why every other version of the game font follow that. And if it was because they wanted Link to be blank again, we'll it was not their decision tout make!
I don't think it was bad at all. It was a bit odd and unnatural, yes, but it was also charming and cute. Overall, I just liked how she finally was able to have the chance to do it after her 100 year battle with Ganon.
Such a great theory! Am I the only one who just smiled like an idiot trough the whole video? This made me so happy 'cause I'm such a big #Zelink shipper😅 but this ALL make sense now! One of the best theory you've ever made!
Thank you for mentioning the Japanese version of this game and reminding everyone that it is the most "canon" one. I played the JP version and keep telling everyone about its differences from the EN version, especially character personalities and no-one believes me lol! Also playing the JP version made me ship Zelda and Urbosa but that's another story
Nice! I'm actually interested in the differences between both versions. If you have anything interesting to share, do you mind talking to me about it? My discord is "NintendoBlackCrisis #9582" if you want to add me :)
To be honest, Link and Zelda have always had a very special relationship. So for him to fall for her really is no surprise, since those two have been sweethearts since Skyward Sword, which is the literal beginning of the timeline.
True, but the problem is that you have several Zelda games were the two has a more business-like relationship rather than a romantic one. Twilight Princess is infamously guilty of this, as Zelda herself only shows up like 2-3 times throughout the entire game, which makes fans theorize Link and Zelda never get together in that game as they barely had time to know each other. In my headcanon tho, Link and Zelda always ends up together, in every single game. It doesn't feel right otherwise.
@@artemis1993 , that's true but that's not the case with the majotity of the games, just very few like Twilight princess, so yes, it would be and feel right that they always ended up together no matter what, after all, it's really the beginning of everything, and then there's the curse of Demise with the story and the cycle being repeated time and time again, which also gives much strength to this and makes obvious and logical that they would end up together, so that's also why almost always in almost all Zelda games we see some sort of romantic interaction between them, even when sometimes it's less shown or appears less times, with Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild showing it the most more clearly and obvious even making it a 100% true, but there are much more cases, like Spirit tracks although there thay are still children but it's pretty obvious there too and really the majority of them somehow, that's also why I ship Zelda and Link since the beginning, I saw this ship since the beginning in the games continously when I started as a little kid and I always loved it seeing it in the games and it made it feel like it was just something that was pretty obvious, logical and fated to happen and it also always fitted so well, like it was perfect and never forced, like they were always made for each other to be together and it was totally natural and normal, like it's something that yes or yes has to happen, and Skyward Sword just confirms this, I really hope to see more about Zelda's and Link's love and relationship in BOTW 2
I love this game's relationships because there not forced and they are soooooo amazing I so ship them Also how does Link not have muscles he can parry a 40 ton charge
In masterworks they show what he was supposed o look like. You can see his muscles better if you go to bridge of Hylia and do the de- cel shading thing.
The German version doesnt say that they were engaged King Dorephan just says that he would have allowed Mipha to marry him because of the legend of a zora princess loving a swordsman and that King Dorephan thinks its a pity that they couldnt marry I hope I could help sorry for bad english ;)
i agree, and i honestly loving speculating the extent of their love for each other in each of the games! cause of course some of them a lot more obvious than others- skyward sword for example!
The localisation of BotW was a bit of a mixed bag in most languages. Apparently, the only translation that kept the first person in Link's entries was Russian. On the other hand, both Spanish translations (both European and Latin American) explicitly confirm both Zelda's and Link's feelings for each other in the Kass' song scene, no flower symbolism required. In any case, yes. Zelink is very much canon in BotW... But I wouldn't be too excited, since keeping it all in the subtext is far from satisfying when it comes to romance. It has to be part of the text, IMO.
"Assuming that Bolson is throwing the petals of Silent Princess flowers , does that mean that he is the reason they are almost extinct?" Bolson: 🎶hoo-WHA-hoo-WHA🎶 SHA- DIIINGG🕺
I'm definitely starting to call Zelink ship "silent princess". It sounds so beautiful and elegant! Edit: Holy cow! I've never had this many likes on any of my comments 😳 THANK YOU!!❤️
I wish there was a next game called "The Legend of Zelda: Past and Future " and had everything about the prequel and continuation of BOTW, sounds weird but would be interesting
Christian Omar I don’t see it happening, botw just needs to be left alone, the story is done, there’s no need to milk the game, plus the next Zelda game is a new game, not a botw sequel or prequel.
My firm belief is that Link only Love Mipha as a friend. I've been a Zelinker since the first time I played a Link to the Past. The western version of the quest log was written in Link's own point of view in the Original Japanese version, which means that once again, Nintendo of America made another wierd decision for a Zelda game! (The Original Japanese title for A Link to the Past was The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods, which makes a whole lot more sense in my opinion!)
I think Link’s feelings are completely dependent on what the player decides. It’s the reason the ship never seems to get past “semi canon”. Nintendo ships it for sure, but because Link is supposed to be a character you project on to, Nintendo doesn’t want to make any players who don’t ship them upset by making it canon. I also think Link’s feelings going past “vague implications of a crush” would flesh out his character too much for Nintendo’s comfort. Personally, I’d love to see him fleshed out more, but I am aware that many fans wouldn’t.
Imagine an ending where you could choose between either Zelda or Mipha(for instance). Both would be canon since they’d be separate timelines. Thus upsetting nobody
But you can't just go with what fans want if you're making a good and consistent story, like Zelda games are in general and the lore as a whole since they are all connected, and Link is not the player, he is an individual character, with the name of Link, male, his own personality and story, it's just that he is made in a way that we somehow relate to him and that we live his adventures with him very closely, but he is his own character, his own person, so yes, it's very obvious here that Zelink is cannon and there is a lot of proof and it's pretty obvious in general, and in Skyward Sword too, and in the majority of the other games it's also showed in some ways, and one can not deny the undeniable, and less with there being so much proof and evidence like here
I talked to a zora called Kodah and asked who she was and she explained that 100 years ago she asked Link to choose between her or Mipha 😂 man, how many girls was Link juggling?
Women have the hots for brave, courageous and creative men...Link, well, has it all. Plus he's physically attractive, which I think is more of his appeal to the more shallow women in the series.
The model for the silent princess has 2 flowers, one that has bloomed and one that has not. Maybe symbolism for Link and Zelda: Zelda a flower that hasn't blossomed and had trouble using her powers and Link a flower that has already blossomed as a prodigy knight.
@@aaronking2020 AoC is canon. It is merely a new timeline that Terrako created when he escaped the events of the Great Calamity in BotW. - We literally see him get activated upon Zelda using her power to protect Link against the Guardian Stalkers - Not to mention Terrako summons the future Champions(Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Teba) from the BotW timeline(where the Calamity Champions died) to assist the Calamity Champions against the Blights. So again, it’s canon. But merely a separate timeline.
@@zuzu7918 Most of what set Mipha and Link apart was due to the silent burden that Link had from wielding the Master Sword and being selected as Zelda’s escort in BotW. - As Zelda confirmed in her diary. In AoC, a lot of that is different. - Link doesn’t get named Zelda’s escort until the Great Calamity begins. - And he doesn’t receive the Master Sword until much later. Besides, at Zora’s Domain, we see Zelda speaking with King Dorephan regarding Mipha piloting Vah Ruta. - But where’s Link if he’s not with Zelda? He’s with Mipha. *Hmmm*

You know how a lot of people were talking about how when Zelda asks if Link remembered him, they were disappointed when he gave no expression at all as expected and therefore gave no answer...well I think that the exclusive cutscene ending IS the answer to the question. I mean you only get it after completing the captured memories main quest, and if Link didn’t complete it he WOULDNT remember her, I hope that makes sense.
2019 and still angry that they omitted the first person journal perspective for the English translation. I don't think I'll EVER get over it. Edit: 2023, still mad about this, fucking love totk though! Also they live together in Hateno now, I'm counting it as a win.

Kendal Martin Aka: Zelink lover Agree..But I mean the open mouth smile and the face is creepy...Or maybe it's because I watched Mirai Nikki that I find this smile creepy
Well, looks like we'll be reaching 90k very soon! Thanks for all the support this past year :)
A few things: I got the date wrong, the video said March 8 when that was yesterday. But technically this video WAS made then. Also, I forgot to bring up something else. What's interesting is how Zelda first addresses Link by "him" or in the case of memory 3, "hero". Later on as she gets closer she ends up using his actual name ;)
Also, I apologize that Mipha wasn't brought up much, but to be honest there isn't much else to add for her. I did a pretty thorough job on the previous theory with her.
If you want to know her pov, the check out the video! It's linked in the description.
Now if you don't mind, I'm going to get some sleep. Stayed up all night to finish this video, so kind of need to rest xD
Congrats on almost 90k

The fact that Link has a personality change after 100 AND decides to write his quests in the Slate and commenting on them is a gigantic character evolution for him.
Also,
"I want to see her smile again"
Oooff right in the feels.
And the "I heard a beautiful voice". Link is having his own opinions and thoughts. And about someone. It's a huge step for his character

Also the scene with the Deku Tree. It's very read between the lines, but she says to the Deku "will you tell him...That I...", and he stops her and says, "wouldn't something from you sound much better in the tones of your own voice?"
I 100% believe she was prepared to die and was about to ask him to tell Link that she loved him, and he basically said "no, you're not going to die.
I loved it

THE KID OF LINK AND ZELDA nice I have 500+ hours
When you talk to Pikango about clues on the 7th memory (the one with Zelda and Link talking under the rain), there's a pair of small stone statues next to Zelda. Pikango says: "These statues... They look like a husband and wife embracing". I've always thought of this as a parallel of Zelda and Link's relationship, they're being compared to a married couple, which I find kind of cute.
I noticed that too.
This game is chock-full of little hints about what's going on between the Princess and the Hero of the Wild.
Much better than how Tatl described Anju and Kafe in Majora's Mask.
Me too! Never really knew how anyone didn't mention that.
this was a good video but there are still some points that were missed! in the japanese version, link writes twice in his quest log about how he thinks zelda’s voice is beautiful, and there’s also an entry where he talks about zelda’s beauty being unmatched when she was on her horse. additionally, when he finds out zelda was in love with him through kass’s song, he says, “i have taken in princess zelda’s feelings.” the text deliberately uses 想い and 想い出 and never 思い or 思い出. while both read the same, the meanings are inherently different in that the first two are reserved for matters of the heart over the mind. So when it says ゼルダ姫の想いを受け取った (literally, “i have taken in princess zelda’s feelings”), that’s tantamount to saying he accepted the memories of her and her emotions behind them.
(additionally, it would’ve been good to bring up how link was able to open up to zelda about his burdens and wasn’t able to with mipha, as mipha writes about it in her diary. daruk’s and urbosa’s diaries also shed light on how close link and zelda were getting pre-calamity. )
there’s also more translations for the japanese quest log here:

Yeah, I'm not surprised there was more. I just wanted to gloss over the entries so the video wouldn't be too long ;)
NintendoBlackCrisis - But it makes no sense to gloss over something that is so essential to the main point you’re trying to prove, right?

That's the point of the "amnesia" argument
It's too late but man you know what gets me more? the fact that Zelda had no idea that her act of love would awake her power so in that desperate moment the only thing she thought could do was shield Link with her own body...and die ;-;
The fact Link wouldn't leave her side...and was gong to protect her no matter what the cost as well. Not just because he's her appointed knight.
In it's own way it was like they would be together in death.

I think that it may have been an unexplainable urge, or else she wouldn't have lifted her hand either.

wow whaaat. Link actually writes in his journal? Jesus christ, Nintendo Treehouse what have you done? That's a pretty big loss in translation. The ending is indeed making way more sense now.

@@TheLadyLiddell I would agree but some want him to be as blank as possible.

Interesting.
I like that interpretation
Yeah i think the wink is pretty much like "oh and don't forget hyrule when you get Zelda"
Like a friend pushing you up to get to the girl you're into and wiking "don't forget about us after you asked her out lol !"
mind just inpoled
To be honest that was the interpretation I had when first playing through the game. That she was implying the main focus here was Link going out to save Zelda. Saving Hyrule would just be a bonus.

if they don't expand on their relationship more in the next game i'm going to die. i've been waiting sooo long for them to just ... be happy :C

@@angiee1603 it straight up changes many of the interpretations we have on characters and on the story, what do you mean it changes "nothing"?

Skyward Sword came very close to Zelink but so far. They obviously like each other but damn Nintendo really made their most intimate moments at the beginning of the game huh-
But those two were childhood friends.

Theory: Zelda fought off Ganon by freezing them both in time, explaining why she still looks young at the end.
Actually it's because the shrine of resurrection has restorative properties and the inside of calamity ganon has preservative properties. Zelda allowed herself to be literally swallowed by the calamity. She's been inside him the entire time, preserving her body in its youthful form while fighting him from the literal inside. Eventually time has to change. I want to see a new character as a decendant of Link...LIKE HIS SON. Maybe a game where Zelda and Link have children and the children watch both of them fall in battle.
Sidon will be at Link and Zelda's wedding.
No, Link will be at Sidon and Zelda’s wedding
No, Revali will object the wedding.
All the champions will be there to see it, however Stevie Wonder won't.

Zelda’s smile at Link after knowing they love each other and see each other’s as equals kinda warmed my heart. ZELINK

@@writt3690 Zelda smiled, link was blank.
Link running to Zelda after she turns and smiles at him is my kink.
It says that link would only open up to zelda in daruks diary, sooooo......
So while he would talk to others, he would not OPEN UP to others.
For example he ONLY ever revealed to Zelda why he was stoic....
True! He does talk a lot after the 100 years, but he probably doesn't confess all his problems like he does with Zelda
It's not a "secret" ending; it's the "complete" ending.
Its called the secret ending because auonuma said the game had a secret ending if you met the requirements
Shy_Swimmer you have to get all of the memories, and i think all of the shrines too. but you don’t need 100% completion.
If you go around zora’s Dorman he definitely visited enough for them to see him grow up
This honestly made me so happy to watch because it breaks down everything so perfectly that it makes sense.
Why did they do that?! Link gain so much humanity in Japanese!!!
weirdly enough, it's the most "correct" move considering the protag was supposed to be as bland as possible so the player can be closer to him.that's also why he's link as stated by miyamoto. cause he's supposed to be the link between player and game.
@@unlimited971 yeah, but that's not what they want anymore. The creators havd change their mind and wanted a new direction. I don't understand why every other version of the game font follow that. And if it was because they wanted Link to be blank again, we'll it was not their decision tout make!

Um, Zelda and Urbosa have a mother/daughter relationship...
SHIPPPPPP
Wait isn’t Zelda a minor and Urbosa is an adult like 27 or smth that’s not cool
Mari Artwork Zelda is like 17 wtf
You really have built the channel “from the ground up” anyway congrats man you earned it.
I love this game's relationships because there not forced and they are soooooo amazing I so ship them
Also how does Link not have muscles he can parry a 40 ton charge
The characters actually have real chemistry together, and it's so nice.
Mostly likely for the 40 ton charge is because
1 low testosterone
2 Nintendo didn’t want a thicc link
You have to remember that Link is like 17 or 18
@@beebs56 Also... Hylians seem to do that DBZ thing where they have muscles powered by magic or something.
In masterworks they show what he was supposed o look like. You can see his muscles better if you go to bridge of Hylia and do the de- cel shading thing.
The German version doesnt say that they were engaged King Dorephan just says that he would have allowed Mipha to marry him because of the legend of a zora princess loving a swordsman and that King Dorephan thinks its a pity that they couldnt marry
I hope I could help sorry for bad english ;)
Oh don't worry, you did great English. And that's good news because it just seems wrong to think that Link was engaged.
The words "German" and "Inacurate" don't go well with each other.

I've always just assumed Link loved Zelda, and not just in BotW but all of the games.
same tbh or maybe im just bias lmao
A B did you see the part where Link gave Zelda his hand and then she put her hand on it
i agree, and i honestly loving speculating the extent of their love for each other in each of the games! cause of course some of them a lot more obvious than others- skyward sword for example!
Sachi Yahya skyward sword zelink is the besstttt
@A B TP was more Midna than anyone else
The localisation of BotW was a bit of a mixed bag in most languages. Apparently, the only translation that kept the first person in Link's entries was Russian.
On the other hand, both Spanish translations (both European and Latin American) explicitly confirm both Zelda's and Link's feelings for each other in the Kass' song scene, no flower symbolism required.
In any case, yes. Zelink is very much canon in BotW... But I wouldn't be too excited, since keeping it all in the subtext is far from satisfying when it comes to romance. It has to be part of the text, IMO.
But it's not in the American version now is it? And thats not just a language change, the whole text was in a different print.
Aiiight, time to get back to my russian roots and finally learn how to read
What does the European and latin american version do to show Link having feelings for Zelda? Also doesnt a lot of Europe speak english

Christian Omar I don’t see it happening, botw just needs to be left alone, the story is done, there’s no need to milk the game, plus the next Zelda game is a new game, not a botw sequel or prequel.

I feel like for Link, Mipha cares for him like a sister that he never had but for Zelda, she cares for him like a person with personal love.💙
Why Zelink is Ganon?
Does Bruno Mars is gay?
A lot of people will not get that joke.

Anthony Nikolas bruh check u grammar I don’t make no sense
Orange Juice it’s an inside joke for the mystic messenger fandom
I think Link’s feelings are completely dependent on what the player decides. It’s the reason the ship never seems to get past “semi canon”. Nintendo ships it for sure, but because Link is supposed to be a character you project on to, Nintendo doesn’t want to make any players who don’t ship them upset by making it canon.
I also think Link’s feelings going past “vague implications of a crush” would flesh out his character too much for Nintendo’s comfort.
Personally, I’d love to see him fleshed out more, but I am aware that many fans wouldn’t.
It would be great if Nintendo somehow gave you an option on how you want to end the game. Then they wouldnt be upsetting anti- shippers😂😂
Imagine an ending where you could choose between either Zelda or Mipha(for instance).
Both would be canon since they’d be separate timelines. Thus upsetting nobody
They can blue ball the shippers in a NEW game, give us this 😭 it’s the perfect game for it
But you can't just go with what fans want if you're making a good and consistent story, like Zelda games are in general and the lore as a whole since they are all connected, and Link is not the player, he is an individual character, with the name of Link, male, his own personality and story, it's just that he is made in a way that we somehow relate to him and that we live his adventures with him very closely, but he is his own character, his own person, so yes, it's very obvious here that Zelink is cannon and there is a lot of proof and it's pretty obvious in general, and in Skyward Sword too, and in the majority of the other games it's also showed in some ways, and one can not deny the undeniable, and less with there being so much proof and evidence like here
I talked to a zora called Kodah and asked who she was and she explained that 100 years ago she asked Link to choose between her or Mipha 😂 man, how many girls was Link juggling?
I mean, he is cute as can be, he's a champion, and he is no doubt the highest ranking knight in the kingdom. He'd be a hell of a catch.
Women have the hots for brave, courageous and creative men...Link, well, has it all. Plus he's physically attractive, which I think is more of his appeal to the more shallow women in the series.
And Paya...They want his...master sword.
but when will they realize he's is 45 years past senile lol
EVERY GIRL IN HYRULE AND BEYOND
The model for the silent princess has 2 flowers, one that has bloomed and one that has not.
Maybe symbolism for Link and Zelda: Zelda a flower that hasn't blossomed and had trouble using her powers and Link a flower that has already blossomed as a prodigy knight.

@@aaronking2020
AoC is canon. It is merely a new timeline that Terrako created when he escaped the events of the Great Calamity in BotW.
- We literally see him get activated upon Zelda using her power to protect Link against the Guardian Stalkers
- Not to mention Terrako summons the future Champions(Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Teba) from the BotW timeline(where the Calamity Champions died) to assist the Calamity Champions against the Blights.
So again, it’s canon. But merely a separate timeline.
@@zuzu7918
Most of what set Mipha and Link apart was due to the silent burden that Link had from wielding the Master Sword and being selected as Zelda’s escort in BotW.
*Hmmm*
