    Nice review Bill i like it in Germany this kit cost ~118 Euro inkl. 19% VAX. If you are a company owner than you get it without the 19%. One thing you have forgotten is that there are 30 years warranty on it. No i don't work for this company but i am a german and can read the text on there Website ;-).
    After viewing you videos i decided to start with lockpicking and look for a good starting set and this one looks great :P
    Greeting from lower saxony, Germany
    Have a nice day
    René
    PS: if you plan to make a new video with locks and guns - please can you try a Mauser 98k in 8x57IS with some locks (like to see what a gun in this nice caliber do with some locks)? In germany its not legal to shoot on other things expect the targetboards, so i can't try it by my self with my old lady.

      Also greetings from lower saxony.
      @Bosnianbill The "PN41 - PN45" offset tensioners are incredible for postal locks (esp. dimple locks) with a little narrower / deeper keyways ...

    Those weird tension wrenches were listed years ago as "WARDED LOCK or SAFE DEPOSIT LOCK" tension wrenches. They were designed to go into, thru the keyway and reach up into the bolt. As the gates were picked, tension was applied to the bolt to retract it.
    Real old school. I still have mine from an old HPC pick set. Circa 1978.

      I've seen them listed as letterbox tension wrenches as well. I bought a couple thinking they were for lever locks. I was mistaken.

    The tension tool probably has an odd shape, because in Europe we have/in the US you have the locks upside down
    So top of the keyway is bottom of the keyway for us

  • @markdebarge9522
    @markdebarge9522 8 років тому +1

    Hi Bill, the tension tools that you cannot figure out are for small lever type locks, they were popular with the USPS, this is a great set of tools but don't go savage on the tension tools they have a purpose.

    I have this one. The picks are of impeccable quality. The leather case is outstanding.
    Btw, the _SP-41_ - _SP-44_ tension wrenches are for certain types of European letter boxes, dimple locks and certain small locks.
    God bless... :)

  • @khinkle68
    @khinkle68 8 років тому

    Hi Bill i found the tension tools SP-41
    to SP-44 are small tension tools for different small locks as for
    example on letter boxes and locks with very narrow lock holes. A MUST
    for the professional equipment!

    Bill, you may be aware: to identify various steel or other alloys, hit them with a grinder. The spark color, type, and pattern varies with each alloy. Often enough to confirm which family or specifics.

    Hello Bill;
    It's just a guess but the tool you're asking about is probably a standard pick and a tension rench at the same time. However I can't imagine how hard would it be to get used to work in that way.

    These 4 "special" tension wrenches are for VERY small and narrow locks like used in many post boxes here (there too?) or other very, very narrow lock channels some tiny padlocks have.
    And, No, they are not just relabeling Sparrows products. They sell them next to others and their own stuff.

    Now that does look like a good kit Bill... Seems they have used the handle scenario of laminated picks from Southord. Love the way that they number the picks too.
    Now.... THE TENSION TOOLS... Can see what you mean regarding the BENDY ones... Normally wrenches in that shape are to get around a door handle etc... Could the funny wrenches in this kit be used to get around a door handle that could be above the lock in a door!!!!!!!!

    Anybody has this set and can answer me a question?
    The picks in the middle, where there is only one line. Is there enough space to fit 5 more picks behind them like on the left?
    I really love the idea of getting this set, but i would want some of my home made special case picks in there too.

    • @ArtVanAuggie
      @ArtVanAuggie 7 років тому +1

      In the second and third sections, middle and right section of case, there are two pouches in each section, the left pouch is 3 tools wide, and the right pouch is 2 tools wide. There is plenty of room for other tools, I keep some .015 tools and some step notch tensioners to have a sorta complete kit. I managed to get a few wafer rakes in there too.

    oh btw bill they say that those top of the keyway tension tools are specifically designd for really small keyways on padlocks and mailboxes. But that shape is indeed really odd. I don't have any of those yet but I was thinking the same, cutting them and maybe getting some serrations on them.

    I would guess that the idea with those odd tension tools is to get them through the length of the keyway and apply the tension behind the pins and thus be completely out of the way of the picking and with no chance of coming loose. Hard to judge the length of them from the video, but I would guess the various lengths would be suitable for 4, 5, 6 and 7 pin cylinders? Obviously it'd require a fairly open keyway to be inserted though.

    this has been my hobby for nearly 30 years, I collect locksmith tools and interesting locks as well. I love your videos, but due to the size of my collection (or as my wife puts it, "the amount of crap I have") you rarely show anything I dont already have, or at least have something similar. so far you've led me to the pick pen- love it- and the sparrows competition case. I dont compete anymore but it is a fantastic edc case, for me. This multipick kit will be my 3rd Bill-directed purchase, without a doubt. very impressive, and being of german descent myself, I'm certain those anal retentive bastards made them flawless, lol.
    I translated the product description on their page...not sure theres anything new there, but here it is if anyone is interested. thanks bill!

    This set is AWESOME just for the case alone! [*EDIT*After checking the site it seems that they just resell the standard Sparrow and Southord cases as everyone else has....Booo!] The Standard picks are not bad but i am sure that its mostly tailored for EU/Ger Locks...Curious about the Ball and Snowman or Figure 8 Picks and what situations those are used for? Are they for raking? what Type of locks would you use those on?
