I’m a Japanese and I was hesitated to go to this kinds of chain restraints before. I had a impression that young ladies don’t go there alone . It’s targeted for おじさん. But you definitely changed my impression. Thanks for widening my perspective!
More chain restos please! Family restaurants fascinate me with their huge menus but it's also great seeing the smaller places getting some time. Definitely going to try Yayoiken!
I will be visiting Japan for the third time this upcoming November and this was great to add to my food itinerary! I feel no matter how many times I go, there will always be new great places to try!
Well, my November Japan trip had to turn from a 3 weeks to a 4 weeks due to plane tickets but the buget is about the same so I was getting ready for a lot of Conbini food but this video just made my perspective a lot better.
i've never been to yayoiken but i love ootoya which is very similar. i always stopped by on my trip to japan when i wanted something healthier. will check out yayoiken too
Totally in ❤ with Sarah her enthusiasm is contagious and the content is interesting and just long enough to give you that little buzz of excitement and momentum to want to go off and know more.
So cool to see all of these budget, English and even restricted eater friendly options for us! Gorgeous as always, loving the bucket hat vibe! Take care out there and keep on living your best life!
One chain I really like is the Hidakaya Ramen Shops. The hotel I always chose in Tokyo has one about a block away and they seem to be super common, almost as must as some of the conbini. They also share their name with the family name of my Japanese teacher. My last trip to Japan I tried the trio of Yoshinoya, Matsuya and Sukiya. Yoshinoya was my favorite based on taste.
if you've tried enough curry joints in japan you will discover coco ichibanya is just average curry. Its their western style format of menu's thats appealing to most westerners. there is literally nothing on the coco ichibanya menu that you cannot find at mom n pop curry shops
@@gregh7457 It's a matter of taste I guess. I have had curry at quite a lot of places in Japan and while CoCo Ichibanya might not be the best (japanese) curry I've ever eaten, it is very consistent and I keep coming back to it.
Loved the variety of restaurants you went to and how to eat some of these meals. Please keep this series up. I'm going in the fall and definitely will try some of these options.
Loved the video! I first found out about your Japan adventures through Tokyo Creative and just recently realized you make your own videos on this channel. I'm definitely going to binge through those and then hope for many more to come! Would love more 20-ish minutes videos like this one. ☺
You can never go wrong with a cucumber roll. It is also a favorite of mine and usually how I judge a sushi place. Now I am super hungry and want to book a flight to Japan to try some of those places!
Well put together video. Short, sharp & terrific, keep it moving. I like that! Pardon me IF you've already done a video on All You Can Eat. I think this might be really popular. I've heard of them but never visited one. Love to know the pros & cons.
They have Kura sushi in some states in the U.S. now. I used to go to Yoshinoya a lot after school in middle and high school. Great to see they are still around.
Thanks for the tips! Added to my list for the next trip to Tokyo. I have one for you. For Gyudon I strongly recommend the Grilled Beef Rib options @ Yoshinoya. The flavour and quality of the meat is in a different league and it really stands out from the other options. I also loved their small salad with Goma sauce. So good and so cheap.
Hoshino is one of my go-to morning set places! There used to be a very crabby woman at one of the Hoshino's in Shinjuku. My sister didn't believe me when I told her and when I took her there she refused to go back. That was 2019 though and I didn't see "Crabby" in 2022. Hoshino had a dessert with a rum sauce and I had to tell them I wasn't driving before they would serve it to me.
Don't listen to the natto haters, it's amazing in a japanese breakfast. Really took me back looking at that tray, and I can't wait to go next year and eat all the natto and drink all the miso!
Gotta love unlimited negi (my favourite add-on). I generally avoid chain restaurants, but after seeing this post will endeavour to do so. Caveat: Hoshino Coffee, and Komeda's Coffee are my all-time favourite chains, and I frequent them every chance I get. Liked and Subscribed.
SAVED! Thank you Sarah, going to be there next week for 1st solo trip and was worried about what to eat as not a seafood person as well. Who would of thought there would be roast beef sushi! Those beans though…LoL 😂
I love Marugame Seimen. The chicken and shrimp tempura are the best. As for gyudon, I believe the best chain is Sukiya. It’s cheapest but also the most delicious. Their benishouga is slightly sweet but very sour so it’s perfect.
The Udon wins for me. I was hoping to send a Super Thanks to fund your Vegemite Habit. Loved the yellow hat. Is it part of a collection or could it be Vegemite Merch? And thanks for taking the Nato Hit for the Team!
The pain of being a Japenese Content creator. The balance of trying to live a healthy life, and eating enough food to feed a family of five for a month in 24 hours for a video 😂
Well done and informative. I do not remember any of those but yoshinoya. I lived in Osaka 92-94 and there was a yoshinoya just down from our foreigner house. We all went there. Lol. They used to do scratch off cards for free stuff. Don't remember curry at yoshinoya back then
My first meal every time I go to Japan is Ichiran. Its not the best ramen, but its my baseline. Most locations are open very late if my flight is delayed.
These all look so good! Next time you should go to my favorite Japanese chain restaurant: Saizeriya! It's the best worst Japanese Italian food! Amazing!
I’m a new subscriber! And I’m really enjoying your content! I had lived in Japan for two years and going back this summer to bring my sister for the first time, so all ur videos are really helpful 😂😊
Nice, entertaining video. Did you shoot it in 1 day? Must have been tiring. Like this excerpt from daily life in Japan videos. Your presentation and editing are good too. Looking forward to more.
I loved all the insightful travel tips you shared in your vlog! Speaking of travel, have you come across the new V4 of the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane? I've been considering it for my upcoming trips, and I thought it might be a fantastic companion for your future travel adventures too.
Saving all these spots for our upcoming trip to Japan! 😊 Thanks so much for sharing! Would you have some recommendations for a showa era themed café/restaurant to visit? 7:36
ohh my i always love cold udon! and i think theres another udon chain in japan called Hanamaru udon too, in terms of udon quality idk which one is better since its been a long time ive had those in japan 😂 but we do have marugame udon in our country too though (quality wise im not sure is the same)
I actually had udon from Hanamaru for the very first time yesterday! Tried the Zaru Udon and thought the dashi dipping sauce was way too sweet and actually didn’t like it 😅 they didn’t have my fav sweet potato tempura either… so gotta say I’m Marugame all the way now! Cool to know Marugame is overseas too!
@@seerasan ahh i see! i cant wait to try hanamaru and marugame udon in tokyo soon too (despite having one in my city but i dont trust they have same quality like tokyo branches haha). We also have yoshinoya here too, its somewhat similar but the menu is less variety compare to japan. I cant decide which beef bowl place is better in japan... they got so many! yoshinoya, sukiya, matsuya, chikara/suta meshi... gotta say suta meshi is prob my favourite because they got combo with abura soba 😍
Part 2 of this series just dropped! Check it out here 🍜 ua-cam.com/video/liWyN1WV368/v-deo.html

Resident for 15+ years in Tokyo, and still find this informational. Good job.
That's awesome to hear. Thanks!
I just visited Japan last May. Among all of the gyudon chains, Sukiya is the best. Also, Komeda's Coffee has the best pork katsu sandwich.
Sukiya 3 cheese gyudon with the tabasco 🤤
This was so helpful! We're gonna be on a pretty low budget and I love seeing places that are no-nonsense, good value for money! Thank you!
More chain restos please! Family restaurants fascinate me with their huge menus but it's also great seeing the smaller places getting some time. Definitely going to try Yayoiken!
I ate at Yayoiken 3 times last Nov because it was right by my hotel. So good! Another good chain is Tenya if you like tempura.
Thanks for doing all the legwork on these convenient/economical restos

100 yen wine?
At Saizeria I always order (at the same time):
steak - 1000 yen
Vegetable topping - 100 yen
Beer - 400 yen
Wine - 100 yen
While Japanese pasta is very different I actually like the spaghetti noodles. They seem extra bouncy compared to western ones.
