I am a chemistry teacher myself, and I came across your video as I need to show them this method when I will be absent from my classroom. Your video is excellent and I will use it. I normally start this demonstration by pouring a small amount of pure ethanol onto the desk and light it on fire. I use this to show ethanol is flammable. I then try to light the water / ethanol mixture which will not light. At the end of the distillation I take the repurified ethanol distillate and it easily lights again. This is both exciting for students and gives qualitative proof that the ethanol is indeed close to pure again. Thanks so much for posting your video!
