Well Napoleon Sent some Polish troops to squash the Haitian Revolution around a few thousand of them when they arrived and saw all attrocities well they switched sides and help the Haitians and one of the Haitian leaders said that the poles were the black men of Europe or something
And Haiti gained there independence thx to polish soldier
I mean considering the treatment of Polish people after the partition of the Commonwealth they‘re not that far off.

Napoleon sent Polish legionaries to Haiti to fight with rebelion. But treatment of locals by the French made most of them very pissed off and they changed the side. They fought together with rebels for their independence. To this day you there can be find trace of Polish culture (surname of people, monuments). :)

It's one of my favourite pieces of history, the Polish soldiers were themselves Polish freedom fighters who were sent there under the pretext that they'd be liberating the island from counter-revolutionaries but as they stayed there they recognized that they had far more in common with the Haitians who were being oppressed by the French and deserted in favor of the Haitians when the second revolution started. The French were basically trying to reimpose slavery and the old colonial order.

The IRL fate of Haiti is one of the greatest historical tragedies, the first country in the world to abolish slavery and the first country to institute an actual democracy with universal suffrage and really the only true democratic revolution in the age of liberal revolutions in the 19th century, and central in enabling Latin American independence. They were just hung out to dry by everyone and in turn abused by various imperialist powers making the country completely backslide into a rural economy plagued by corruption. It's a crime that the first true light of democracy was treated like this by the rest of the world and their legacy should be more well known.

Well, it wasn’t exactly a free democracy I’m pretty sure it was taken over by military strong men almost immedia
You also have to tell the part in which they genocided the French colonial overlords and the French responded in kind, something like Decreto de Guerra a muerte. Their independence war was a fucking nightmare, hundreds of thousands of dead people. The Spanish colonies' were also bloody but by per capita the death toll was so much higher in Haiti. Then they also attacked Santo Domingo, the Spanish part of La Española, fresh off their own independence war and subjugated them for a couple of decades. They were at war for like 30 years nonstop. Then more war with the Dominicans. That completely devastated their economy, they even chopped up most of their trees desperate for resources, their agriculture dried up as a result, then the French imposed them a debt for all of the colonists deaths. It wasnt as rosy as you picture it. Far from it.
@@slayer1156 the "decreto de guerre a muerte" was issued by Simon bolivar, but it took inspiration from the haitian revolution that declared the "guerre à mort" to France

Along with the Poles there was also a population of Germans in Haiti (Saint-Domingue) which were tolerated in those days.

Declare war on like thailand or some country w no allies or not sphered and wait 10+ years doing nothing. They will send u peace deals for +4 militancy or something like that if you aren’t winning. You can use this to pass all economic reforms and become super powerful and an immigrant magnet and big success gg GP guarantee

Hi. This video makes Vic 2 look really fun and I plan to buy some day. Also,have you tried playing Age of History 2, I think it has a Victorian era scenario. Maybe if you play it with a mod like Addon+ or Hearts of Aoh2, you may enjoy it.

I have the Victoria 2 on Steam I have no idea how to install mods doesn't want to know how I can install any mod to Victoria 2. Also I looked up how to install and it did not work for me.
That is unfortunate. I usually install my mods on MOD DB and then I follow the instructions there. See if you can get that to work that’s my reccomendation
I don't really get why you Don't colonize like a easy way to make small nations like Haiti strong would be to get colonies in Africa and take land from the Great Qing because their resource rich and full of pops that way you can turn around and take the land that has you're Primary and accepted cultures in it plus the claims you get along the way.
This is valid. At least for my video play throughs I’m not trying to play the perfect game I’m trying to make entertaining content and it makes more sense from a narrative standpoint to not do that. @@SGT i get you but at least you should take land in Africa as any Nation because all nations would have colonised if they could rather then go as far as something busted as taking Chinese Lands once you've done that game is over so Colonies are essential in any playthrough unless you're the Russian Empire or Japan where they historically attempted to conquer China, Japan especially. But yeah conquering Latin America as a Latin American Nation makes sense especially considering current movements for Latin American Integration as well as historical states like the First Mexican Empire, Peru-Bolivia, Gran Colombia, United Provinces of Rio de la Plata and the Federal Republic of Central America. But in the case of Haiti it being a French Caribbean Nation means it's goals would be to unite the Caribbean islands and control the Caribbean by taking coastal lands and probably build a Colonial Empire in Africa besides that possibly lay claim to former French Colonies in the New World or some funny revenge larp where you conquer mainland France.
@@thecanadianempire8767 ah yes, the completely historically accurate economic philosophy of colonizing Africa to fix the Haitian economy, just as the Devs intended 🤣 But for real, while from a min max POV you’re right, it just wouldn’t fit the flavor. In that case pretty much the best strategy would be to do the same few things over and over for each nation, especially minor nations, which wouldn’t be nearly as interesting. I’m hoping in Vic3 playing tall is an actually viable strategy
@@Mr_Mcgee_ i agree you shouldn't have to colonize you still would have to take land or sphere/puppet countries to get access to vital resources but when it comes to Victoria 2 you have to colonize to get pops and resources so you can build a bigger military to get more pops and resources but again i agree you shouldn't have to do that to have fun.

@@SGT educated people are the main source of your research points later in the game, so unless you have at least 40-50% literacy, you should get biologism asap. Literacy also affects promotion chances of your pops, and the higher the better

Yes I know this video is 8 months old, yes I know you reached 4k a while ago. No, I will not take it back you need to play as Australia.
Fun fact about haiti its the first and only succesfull slave revolt nation in the world that being said if haiti would be starting an empire in the caribbean and central america it would have gotten massive support from the afroamerican population which with plantage economy that most nations in regions are build on can get massive support from the slaves or surpressed indigenous people there. But in our own history haiti basically took over hispanionola making their neighbor be a racist towards haitians and genociding them in their own land or expelling them to haiti. Their neighbor dominica is a mostly mestizo and european descent population while haiti is mostly afroamerican. That being said I did know haiti accepted polish to be welcomed in their nation the ones send over but I do not think it would be logical to make them an accepted culture.

Since when did America fight the Mexican American war? In all my gfm runs they end up sphering Mexico and being really weak when the Confederacy rolls around.
I think that America generally wins the Mexican-American war but loses to the confederates. I'm pretty sure in every Victoria 2 A to Z video this has happened.

the more rights your people have, the more immigrants you get. You should look at the reforms menu and pick whichever gives the highest boost to immigrant attraction
I understand the immigration mechanics. It didn’t really make sense for me with my authoritarian roots to pass those laws from a narrative standpoint so I didn’t do it.
