Taxing only the poor is not a good strategy, you are decreasing the demand for goods which will make factories less profitable and decrease the rate at which pops change role. The rich are useless and basically only exist to consume (which the poor do better) and to build factories (which weren't needed as their were not unemployed). Taxing the rich as much as possible to reduce the burden on the others will have a greater positive impact. My late game Greater Mexico to Patricia Grande to South American Union is 100,0,0 taxes and -40% tarrifls.
@@j.murphy4884 this is what people get wrong about the economy, money doesn't matter. if you can fund your army and education it does not matter at all whether you are making 20 pounds profit or 20,000 pounds profit.
@@duskpede5146 it always pays to have reserves, since the price of goods can vary wildly and you might have to subsidize factories sometimes. Tbh colonialism in the 19th century largely lost money rather than made it. That's something that Victoria 2 gets very wrong. The only place Britain had a net gain from colonialism was in India, everywhere else it was a money sink.
the thing is colonialism is great for the private sector ie. corporations and the rich. The nation paid all the expense like military and enforcing law and order while the corporations had free reign to exploit the population. in game the factories(private sector) are being fed by the resources from the colonies and that what makes colonies profitable.
It is pretty clear he has never looked at the trade tab to check out the world supply/demand. I have also noticed that if you are building a bunch of forts while also trying to build a bunch of artillery brigades, the world supply just can't keep up with that much demand because of the fact that forts require a bunch of artillery to build/upgrade. I also believe the game fulfills demand based on the order in which the buttons were clicked. For instance, if you pause the game, then click to upgrade like 50 forts around your country, then click to build 20 artillery brigades, the game will supply the needs of the forts before the brigades simply because you built the forts first. I believe you can do this to manipulate market prices as well, because the value of artillery skyrocketed due to the sudden high demand.
GFM loves high infamy for little acquisitions that aren't worth it. In a Russia game, I ignored all of central asia to focus on more useful ways to spend it.
Considering Bone is also spelled Boni I am going to go out on a limb and say it’s probably Bon-eh and the weirdass thing English does with silent Es modifying earlier vowels doesn’t exist in transliterated Buginese. Flanders kept cores because it’s a real region with a history whereas in this world Belgium had existed for a collective year or two before getting crushed.
not a very optimistic ending! you have won many battles, but your country is very exhausted from the war and the aggressiveness of the population is very high
In the age of enlightenment mod you can form the anglo Dutch union and i was basically able to get half the word because of how powerful it can be considering the colonial opportunities
Hey I'm kinda new and have a question, in vanilla at least you can change the netherlands party to whatever you want with their gov type and I always choose reactionary which seemingly gives me the most control over my country. In this run are you forced to be the liberal party or did you optionally choose them and why?
yeah in gfm it's a democracy and you can't switch parties. but you do have a point, if you can, choose reactionary in the early game. not only do you get the most control (building factories, taxing, tariffs) but the militancy from events often means you can get reforms just as fast as with any other party. i may be wrong but it seems you actually don't mind militancy as long as it comes from political unsatisfaction rather than simple ethnic uprisings like you'd have in the ottoman empire. so just go reactionary and mostly go for the event options that increase militancy. in late game you can afford to go liberal since 1) you won't need to tariff, tax or build factories yourself 2) you wanna avoid militancy since you probably have all the reforms you could use to lower it
Hey just a pro top for Netherlands starting war with that indonesian minor Aceh, just use your ships in the conoly to blokade them and theyll surrender. Its way easier than to let your troops die of attrittion in the indonesian jungle
"It should just be called 'Colonial Exploitation: The Game'. And that is Victoria games in a nutshell." Meanwhile you can't exploit your colonies in Victoria 3, in fact, you can barely colonize.

Negative tarrifs don't make sense when you have so much resources, you barely import anything. Better leave them on 100% and subsidize factories.
Tariffs should never be lower than 0%, subsiding is wasting money.
