I could be mistaken, but I think Touchdown is an aeronautical reference in this case, (Aircraft initial contact on landing.)
My thoughts as well
Yeah exactly, I'd imagine they're playing off the same theme as flight attendant
Kinda works in tandem with “Flight Attendant” branding.
Can’t wait to ride the beep boop
Sounds like a heavy hitter

I would guess it’s probably the trek slash
Grim donut !!!???
I like to see a comparsion between the 2023 rockshox super deluxe ultimate air with the megneg vs the vivid.
Been waiting for a new beep boop for a while. Can't wait to demo it!
I think "touchdown" is an aircraft reference, as in landing, not a football reference. 😂
Cool run through Darius, thank you.
But does it make you go fast?!!! 💨
Is that a Mike Levey missing child milk carton on your shirt Dario? 😂
Snap your fingers one more time and make my favorite PB editor appear!
Levy is busy transitioning lol
@@YouFearMepatrol or sentinel?
Would it not be a Vivid Air? Even though the Vivid name is not used on a coil shock any more I would not be surprised if the Vivid Air made a return the Coil might as well.
ooooh... shiny things!
Sick👍

Off topic but what mtb pants are you wearing? They look clean without the tactical gear look some pants have. Thanks.
interesting…just bought a deluxe ultimate with hbo….can’t seem to get the use of the last part of the stroke (in the hbo zone) even with no tokens and linear can…one thing i wish for is an adjustable hbo…guess which new shock has it….bugger damn Vivid
It looks like the Beep Boop part was "yet to be released Nukeproof Bike". Based on my bad lip reading skills. The Giga is getting an update for 2024 and I'm sure this was filmed before the announcement/release in UK on August 1st
we all want the beep boop!
Bee Boop (high pivot enduro bike that may or may not look like a session)
Can a regular garage mechanic do the service ? Or must we send it in for a month??
Well it looks like it fits the new Santa Cruz shock tunnels, thank goodness.
i bet it fits on every bike except for their most popular, the hightower!
smells by game changer
We put a 3mm hex into the shock so that you woudn't need to carry a 3mm hex. Untill you lose it in a crash
That's what I was thinking. How does that thing stay on?
@@mattsemenuik9560 must be a magnet🤷♂
I have both last versions of Vivid shocks. Air doesn't even comes close to coil, I need to service it but it's just waiting in a box for over 2 years. Coil is ideal, I just love it, it's been working flawlessly since day one and I never even cleaned it. For years. Air on the other hand needs sevice every 300h. I hope they got it right this round.
Can't wait to see a proper review on a downhill bike
Just asking, if the compression damping bypass is only in the first 10% of travel, wouldn't it not really be useful in real world situations given that most will be running between 25 and 30% sag?
When you jump/drop the shock is fully extended before you land, so you do use it in real world situations.
its problaby called touchdown cause it comes into play when your wheel touches down to the ground.
That is a solid point. If the idea is to help you get into your initial stroke while landing a drop or a jump, than the "touchdown" technology is not for me. I want compression damping to kick in immediately upon landing on a big impact. The best thing about coil is the lack of friction while riding fast over rocky and rooty terrain to help the tire hug the ground instead of skipping around.
@@andersonsridebikes touchdown tech is for you then, since it mimics the coil characteristics. Makes no sense to have compression kick in immediately, that will have the opposite effect of coil that is soft initially.
@@ThisGuyRides It sounds like the "coil like" feel will disappear beyond the sag point and will only apply when tires first make contact with the ground after a jump or drop. The compression damping will apparently work just like normal while riding through rock and root gardens and therefore not give the coil shock benefits that I actually want.
Next video this vs EXT Aria?
I wonder if it’s impossible to service like the last vivid….
Where's your Commencal Meta/SX V5 review? I know you have them!
If this new Vivid and the Super Deluxe are both still sold amd advertised, what exactly is the difference (except the new design) and which one is aimed more at DH?
Or will the Super Deluxe be discontinued?
Depends on how you want your shock to feel, I doubt they'll be making a Meg neg for the new sdlx now
I really like the 3mm Allen key. A nice touch
On paper it is. In reality it’s a nightmare to use. The adjustments are stiff, poorly placed, no way you are doing it in gloves and god help you if you drop it because it’s so tiny you won’t find in the forest.
A heavier MegNeg?
I got mine on Aliexpress!
So about a 230-250g weight saving over a Super Deluxe Coil?
Yes
It seems to me, that this is just a great "copy" of BOS Kirk rear shocks
What a time to release a $700+ air shock, good luck with that 👍
People have got rich in the last 3 years, the economy is booming, count of sold bikes are increasing...
@@fpeter01Exactly, im about to blow 700 on it
That must be why all the major bike manufacturers have unprecedented sales and can’t shift stock.
"Rockshoxs"
Why do you make compromises if you can ride coil.
Every snap I was hoping he’d disappear… sadly no. And then a complete rip on the Fox Float X2… “SNAP!” A greasy re-engineered knock-off! 😂
Still just a single valve shock lacking bottom out and no eyelet bearings. Meh.. Some day they’ll actually make a high end air shock.
Nice commercial
#ad
My experience with this thing has been really the absolute opposite of everything this review claims… the adjustment range is basically zero, the hbo has about as much effect as the pad contact screw oh Shimano brakes and the ride is anything but plush. It also struggles to hold any pressure above 300 psi… I genuinely don’t understand all these great positive reviews. It genuinely makes me think that people are just being paid to say all this stuff.
So . If you set sag at 25 - 30% isn't the first 10% kind of useless
In the air any shock will fully extend and goes through the full stroke once you touchdown.
So you still use your first 25% of a shock when you jump
@@Tomcoma2832 makes sense
2:15 Nobody on this channel has 5,000 hours of riding in.
In 10 years I have 3,800 hours of riding.
That's neat, you want a cookie?
@@parker6711 I pretty sure it's a biscuit, not a cookie.
@@parker6711 Facts are neat. Do you need a hug.?
That means that touchdown is useless because of 28% sag no?
