Kevin, how you managed to drive at all during that godawful apocalypse is beyond me!!! When you opened your window at the 4:55 mark, I was flabbergasted by the color of that sky!!! It's odd how some tornadic skies are dark yellow, some are bright teal, some are bottle-green, some are the color of rose milk, and yours was luminescent orange!! Holy Mo!! When you were on 1-64, I was scared - that lightening was enough to blow the socks off, and I could hear hail on your windshield. All in all, this was some truly FASCINATING footage!!! Thanks for sharing it!
Where I was at during the event was between the tornadic cell and the storm south of St. Louis County, so all I saw was lightining, scud, tailclouds, and a very very yellow sky.
Kyle Genthon yea, that sky was really strange looking..almost a brownish yellow...I let the new storm pass south and stayed for the old area of rotation. It still had some weak rotation as it passed near 270 and 70.
Here's a suggestion: get your defroster fixed if you're going to shoot video out your windshield. Thing about St. Louis: ever since 1959, tornadoes don't roll through due to the heat island that the city and county have become. You'll get straight line winds, but that's about it. Tornadoes suck back up into the wall cloud and don't drop until they've gone over the Mississippi river where the air cools back down and they drop in Illinois and tear up over there. You'd have been better rewarded had you just stayed in Illinois.
I believe I was at the Cardinals/Cubs Sunday night game that evening (not the one against the Reds in 2011 when the bigger one hit, but this one). Everyone left the stands when it was raining, and my dad and I were in the concourses when we got word that a tornado was near St. Charles. My mom was on the phone worried back in the hotel. Luckily the tornado missed us and they resumed the game after about two or three hours.
Man I remember this. I was out visiting my girlfriend in Moro. It was raining to beat the band, like Im from Maine, and I've seen some wicked storms, but this tops everything. In all my life I've never heard a tornado siren so this was quite a thrill for me when the sirens in near by Bethalto started ringing out. Though I have to say I was a little shocked when most of the towns people went outside to see if they could spot the tornado rather seeking shelter in the basement. My girlfriend and her family told me they have been there 19 years (well for as long as my gf has been alive) and she's never seen a tornado in Moro or anywhere else near by. Still though personally I think its better to be safe than sorry.
Great video! Just be careful driving and moving the camera at the same time unless someone else in the car was doing it. That storm was unbelievable!! 👍👍🌪🌪⚡️⚡️😎😎
4:25 I hear tornado sirens! They are going off!!
is that a tornado?! over there?!! and i think it was!! 2:17

It was broken. Headlights too. Didnt know it until we left st louis.
@@rad1965 you're lucky MHP didn't pull you over. Get that stuff fixed, dude. You're a hazard with them like they are.

Kyle Genthon wonder if the canadian fire smoke had something to do with the color?
Kevin Radley Might've.
I know this was several years ago, but when you were chasing the tornado, were you visually chasing or were you going by the radar?
Liberty Lost radar
Liberty Lost it had been reported west of me moving east
Thanks for the video! I'm curious. At ~4m38s, what weather app were you using?
tscooter22 thanks.. radarscope....really good radar ap
I actually landed on this day in St.Louis with my dad. We stayed at the Airport hotel and watched the storm roll through. It was scary!

Yea that night was scary and bad
I remember that.... The summer for 3rd grade... Didn't go so well...
It seems you travel a lot to Illinois and around the area? I’m from taylorville. I love your videos. Keep it up man.
Lacy Shanks thanks..!!
Was that field flooded near the beginning ?
Not sure but it looks like it..may have been a lake too..
i was in the tornado
your... the... bravest.. person.... on... UA-cam.. 😂👍
Dirty gray skies are not good. Some storms have tornadoes and others do not. A nasty thunderstorm can be just as bad.

Chris Couchon my defogs and headlamps both went out.. didnt realize headlamps were out till i got out of st louis.. not fun
I had to go in a stairwell during this
+Kassidee Judson that must have been scary
what ever hit st.louis hits flora il and olney il
Rickey Willis Kind of true. I live in an outer suburb and what hits 12 miles west doesn't always hit me. Weather is weird.
I was at Denny's when this happened for my birthday dinner they mad is go into the kitchen when it came within a mile of the resturant
Hey I remember this it was just so scary
Okay why is that sky look orange
streetlamp light reflecting upon the low clouds
When this happened the EAS was going off on everything and we had to go to the basement.😑
Did you get any damage where you were?
Not really just some broken tree limbs and debris.
I recorded 2 videos on my channel of the tornado warning
Zelda/Fnaf fan Forever I'll check em out
Cool thanks:)
This is Fake I've lived in saint Louis since 2013 and this didn't happen
