I submitted my passport application in houston, TX and 2 weeks ago after calling national passport center to see what's going on, then I noticed that they're working on my application! What is the deal, is it happening to everyone or some people? As they said my application is with department of state and they're processing and that is only information that I finally got from one of their agents, so It's been almost 4 months that I've been waiting for my passport and still is just nothing...
I applied July 6th and received mine today, but my spouse-who applied at the same time has not received his.

Hi again! Yesterday when I got off work, I got an email from the DOS saying my passport application has been approved and then two hours after that I get another email saying it’s been shipped!
I’d also like to share with you that I am likely getting my passport book and/or card according to the USPS this week. But the DOS says I’m getting them closer to the end of the month. I submitted my DS-11 application along with supporting documents on July 14th.

I applied for my passport book and card on 7/14 at a post office in Van Nuys, California. When I check the status on the Dept of State site, it just says “Processed” I believe. I will now likely call the number you listed to see which state my application for my book and card went to.
Just checked those updated statistics as of today and looks like the numbers of issued passports are actually decreasing. It may be caused by recent USCIS focus on oath ceremonies. Let’s see.
I’m not in a rush for 2020. So hopefully I will get it this year as a renewal.Mailed out Aug 14-17th in NJ to PA. Cashed the check 17th. First it was Not Found, then Processing pretty much all of September. Maybe I will call to see what state it may be in. 9/26/20.
Here’s my update. My sister and I applied for passport on July 8th. Last week I checked on their website and said “process” on both of applications. Today, as of July 20 my passport are being delivered and should arrive this Thursday!!!! And I live in SoCal!

I sent mine in for renewal in June and am still waiting. I am an English teacher and have a really important job abroad at the end of August. I still have a no-fee passport from my previous work as a Peace Corps Volunteer. It doesn't expire until 2023. I have read that you are not supposed to use no-fee passports for personal use. However, I am very tempted to do it, as I still need to submit for my Business Visa for the country where I will be working. Is it a terrible idea to try to use my no-fee passport to get my 90 day business visa? Then I could use my renewed regular passport to obtain my work visa later on?

I applied on June 1, 2020 from metro Atlanta, GA and I received mine on August 7, 2020. it was issued on August 4, 2020. I freaked out because when I called on July 24th they couldn’t even find my application initially and they told me to check with the place I had it sent from. Eventually they were able to find it with my full social but that had me concerned that it might take a while longer seeing how difficult it was to find it, even though it had been almost two months. Even when I checked online it said “application not found” (it still says it even after I received it ) . So if anyone is having problems getting info online or with customer service locating you application , don’t get too worked up over it .
Man I'm trying not to get worked up about it but I applied 3 weeks ago and when I called a week after I had applied to check on the status it said being processed. I checked again on the website now it says results not found. WTF. What's going on
How can I figure out which agency correlates to my state since the agencies listed on the state travel are only for major cities. I checked and nowhere they list which states and cities are associated with the listed agencies. Help- I’m from Ohio

Anita Plaha I hadn’t checked online previously, but I never received an email when it was processed or when it was mailed out. I was never notified of any change. I just checked my status online just now and it said it’s been approved and is still being printed and will be shipped out shortly, even though I already got it in the mail.

Hey there, thought I would update on my pp renewal application. Received pp today. It took about 2 & a half months to receive.
As mentioned, it was a renewal & all I had to send in was expired pp/forms/payment. That's all!

Well if you read it on Facebook it must be true. ;o) Probably has happened for a few early on but if it's on Facebook then I'm guessing your local representative will be swamped by requests now so will be ignoring them.

I'm in Texas and I applied for a passport on July 2nd through the post office. On July 24th my passport got approved and I just got it in the mail today on the 29th! It came from El Paso passport agency. Dont lose hope! I was expecting it to come in November or something!

They said you should only apply if it’s an emergency, but I need to get a medical surgery abroad in December and need my passport by October.

@@brianharrington6276 it could be a shorter wait. The reason mine took so long was that it arrived the day of the shutdown and then had to wait to catch up once they pick up operations again. It might go faster now that there isn't a long period of no work at all.

I called yesterday Aug. 27th, and they said it was still in processing. Will keep updating.
So today I check my email and I received confirmation that it was approved and sent out for mail yesterday after 5 p.m. the email stated that I should receive it no later than Monday the 31st it was coming from an Arkansas location. However, I do not live in Arkansas and my state has an office but it is in level 2 recovery right now.
Not sure if this made a difference, but when I called the representative asked how soon was I trying to leave the country and was it life threatening and I stated NO . My passport is for work, and I can't schedule a date until I have received my passport. After which she responded that they are working as diligently as they possibly can and to keep checking the website for updates.

After reading all the reviews&replies, how did you find out where your application has sent to? When I check the status from the gov website, it just says "in progress"

Hello, I am an Indian citizen and am currently applying for F-1 VISA. But because of pandemic, I am unable to book my appointment dates for visa interview and on top of that the dates which I can see at portal fluctuates on regular basis.. Today for example the earliest date which I can see for visa appointment is 16th Feb. 2021, but yesterday it was somewhere in October 2020. This dates fluctuate between October and Feb. What should I do.. Are this dates are for real.
My timeline...I mailed my passport in early May for renewal. Called State Department and was told they received it in early June and it is processing. No timeline was given for when I would receive it back.

I live in the Metro Atlanta area and I don’t even think Atlanta is open yet . I applied on June!1 and was under the idea that since Atlanta wasn’t open , the court house I applied at would mail it to the nearest operating facility. Was I wrong in thinking that and is my passport application sitting in the Atlanta office in a stack of other applicants collecting dust until Atlanta decides to move into phase one ?

So, if my passport was issued more than 15 years ago and is expired, I understand that I have to apply for renewal in person. My question is where I have to apply in person? I am in Austin, Texas so would Houston be the closest location? Thanks.
In person at the nearest post office or other passport acceptance facility, there should be plenty in Austin. Type in your zip code here and it'll bring up a list of options: iafdb.travel.state.gov/
how do we know how small the number of phase 1 vs phase 2 being processed..... and where we live seems unrelated to where the processing occurs, as i live in california the renewal was mailed to texas, and now my renewal is in new hampshire... for those of us still waiting from march and april... the may 23rd person getting theirs already contradicts their first come first serve policy...
Someone in Florida applied in early July and already got her passport and her spouse who applied at the same time hasn't. So I agree with you, while they are saying they are going in chronological order, it doesn't seem that they are!
Also, yes the processing occurs in different places, sometimes in your state, sometimes elsewhere and I should have clarified this in the video. The reason the agencies in the cities are important is for people with upcoming travel who want in person appointments (if the city is in phase 2, they might be able to get one) to see if they can get a passport before their trips. A lot of people were asking about this - but no guarantee they will get an appt. In Phase 3, people can go to the agencies if let's say they have a trip in 2 days.

@@douglasmccannpiano It's really hard to know - I wish I had a better answer for you - on their website they say that Phase 1 = limited staff and Phase 2 = most staff return to work allowing them to process more applications. If your application is in NH, the Passport Center there is in Phase 1 so it's not processing as many applications as a center/agency in Phase 2. Do you have travel coming up soon?

I've been hearing a lot of people getting their passports quite quickly in New York (look at all the comments on the video titled 900K passports issued in July). Don't worry too much about the phases because the passport sometimes doesn't get processed in your home state. So I'd go ahead and apply. The State Department said they expect to get back to normal processing times this Fall and I've been hearing some people get their passports back in 2 weeks! If you look at the comments on the video I mentioned, you'll see all kinds of experiences - some getting back in 2 weeks, some longer, but it does seem like things are getting faster.

It depends where your passport ended up - even though you are in California, it could have ended up at another agency in a different state (renewal or first time). So it's impossible to say how long. I am seeing people get their passports back in 2 weeks and others in 2 months, there seems to be no pattern to how they are processing. If you call the National Passport Info Center, they may be able to tell you where your passport currently is...

It maybe where it was sent to. I applied August 20. It wasn't received til 9/1 it was in process until yesterday. They shipped it out yesterday and it should be here 10/6. Sorry that is happening to you. Hopefully you will get through soon.
Hi we’re based in Qatar, passport expiring in 3 months and the embassy is not even accepting passport applications, other than emergency passports with documentation of medical or other emergency. Any advice ??
Unfortunately, not much you can do if that is the Embassy's current policy - unless you actually have an emergency and need to travel. Sorry I wish I had a better answer.

No it doesn't mean that. Passports aren't always processed at the agencies in your home state. For example, when you renew your passport by mail, you mail it to a Passport Center in Texas or Philadelphia first and sometimes it gets processed there and other times it gets sent to another processing center in another state from there. So it really depends on where your passport finally ends up. Have you already applied?

Honestly, I am not sure, but the State Department website says this: "U.S. nationals, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States."
So, it sounds like it would be a problem if you left with the Mexican passport (according to this statement from the website) but again I am not an expert on dual citizenship...

Houston is not even in phase one yet, so it might be much longer

@@samisami-gg3om Texas sucks. Not even in Phase one so they have now moved those passports stuck in limbo in Dallas (and Houston too most probably) to Charleston SC Passport Center.

is a private company authorized by the US Passport Agency to expedite the application process of getting US passports in as fast as 24 hours". So you would think they would get a wriggle one. We have been waiting over 4 months too.

Jazz why would they deny your passport ? If it’s an elective surgery they might not approve you for an emergency passport .

D'Ann Escobar I’m in Texas as well and I applied Aug 13th and received my passport on Sep 10th! Less than a month. Way sooner than I thought wasn’t expecting it till like Dec or next year lol. And it wasn’t a renewal this was a new passport. If that makes a difference not sure.

It's all very confusing. If you are renewing a passport by mail, you mail it to a processing center in Texas or Philadelphia first, but then from there it sometimes gets sent to another center! The agencies whose phases I keep talking about also process passports but they aren't the only ones, so don't get too hung up on the their phases unless you have a trip coming up and you're trying to get an in person appointment...

Have you tried calling the National Passport Center and telling them that you will lose a job opportunity if you don't get your passport soon? I'd call that an emergency, I know it's not medical, but worth a try to call them and see if they can help you?

You can apply now if you'd like, but it might take some time to get the actual physical card because of this printing backlog...if they get the funding they need in 2 weeks, then they should be able to ramp up printing cards again. You eventually need to apply so you might as well do it sooner rather than later. Good luck!

That was lightning speed, I didn't apply for express service or anything, I only paid the extra 17 dollars for 2 day shipping. I knew it would go fast because the website said it would take 7-10 days to start getting status updates, well I got the update 3 days after applying. I applied 8/22, got passport 9/18, that's 27 days. I have never been impressed with a government agency. Is this was efficiency looks like, someone tell the medical administration industry, I don't think they know what that is yet.

What phase is Los Angels agency the website shows no status under Los Angeles
That means it is not doing anything yet, Houston says the same... I wonder if our info will be sent to other agencies or just sit there until we enter phase one

Every time I go on their website they have the same page that they have had since April that says "To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect our workforce and customers, we significantly reduced passport operations in March 2020." and every time I call one of their customer service personnel they say "oh we can't give a status on when normal operations will resume, I'm sorry" To be honest I don't want to hear that corny ass shit anymore!!! I just can’t believe that at some point New York had the highest case of corona virus cases yet they are already in phase 2 however, the lazy fucken bitches in LA haven’t even been doing shit this whole time. In their website they ask for our patience but I been ran out of that shit. I'm not asking for much I just want to know what phase they are on and they can't even give us a status on that mean while other states are already in phase 2!!! By the way I don't mean this towards you I'm just venting.

Francesca Colomba To give you an idea, I mailed my old passport & a check for renewal in March 9th (lockdown was March 19th). The check cleared March13th. I received my new passport July 14th. It took 4 months & a few days for them process. Now that they are fully staffed, I don’t think it will take that long. You will probably be receiving it the next few days. My guess...

Francesca Colomba If you haven’t received your PP yet, go to www.travel.state.gov & tap “UPDATE ON US PASSPORTS OPERATION” follow the prompt & you will a reach a page where you can leave your email address so you can be updated with the status. It worked for me.

My question is, I am a US citizen and I have US passport and I have my Kazakhstan password as well. But I am not a citizen of Kazakhstan anymore.
Can I leave US using Kazakh passport and come back to US using US passport ???
Because now Kazakhstan requires long process complicated visa to visit, so I was wondering what’s going to happen if I would do that.

Hey there. Although you have multiple passports, you must exit the U.S. with your U.S. passport. That is unless for some crazy reason you entered with your Kazakh passport and received a visa

Hi there - it doesn't quite work like that.Your passport can end up getting processed anywhere in the country. Just because you submit the application in NY doesn't mean it'll get processed by the NY agency (though it might). If it's a renewal of a passport, you mail it to Texas or Philadelphia first and then it gets sent elsewhere to get processed. So even if you live in a Phase 1 city, your passport may get sent somewhere else. I would just apply from wherever you are.

I submitted my application on June 10,2020 and still nothing. I recently did look up the status via website and it stated it was "in process". Still frustrated.

I applied June 1 and I called in last week and they told me they never received my application and to contact the place where I submitted the application and online it says application not found . They ended up finding my application when I called back and told them that it’s showing they cashed my money order so they had to have received it . 😒. But seeing how they don’t even have me in the system yet was very deflating .
