Thank you for making this video! I couldn’t find any information on where my passport might have been sent until I found this video. I applied by mail at a post office on June 26th. The status have been “in process” ever since. I’m very hopeful that I’ll receive it in time to study abroad this fall after hearing that some people who sent them in at the same time as me have already gotten theirs back. Please keep making these videos and again thank you so much !
Thanks for the information. I sent my renewal on May 11 from Texas. It showed up in system on June 7. I've been calling to see if I could get an update. On July 20 I was told it was approved and ready to be printed and to check my email at the end of week for shipping details. Email never came. Called everyday this week and yesterday was told it's at the Western Processing Facility in AZ, but they haven't even began Phase I. Why would they send it to a facility that's not even open. When I asked the reason he told me to refer to the website for "Processing during Covid 19". This is beyond frustrating. My son applied for a NEW PASSPORT the same day I sent in my renewal and he received his passport on July 11 from the Arkansas Facility. If a passport facility is not in Phase I does that mean they are not working? I just don't understand this??
Willa Provost I know how frustrating it is trying to get answers when all they do is read from a script. They’re obviously not processing them all in the order they’re received which is indeed frustrating. I’ll let you know if I ever get mine but that’s all the insight I can provide! I just wanted to empathize as I’ve spent weeks sending emails with specific questions only to get a copy pasted reply. Good luck with yours mate!
Hi Maneesha, Applied for 3 passports (1 adult 2 children) on March 20th Dallas TX. Check cashed 23rd. Website updated to say in process. NOTHING AT ALL until July 14th when we received an email saying processing. That was 18 days ago and still nothing since. Passport application is currently in Charleston SC. Extremely painful to be kept waiting like this when the passports are needed urgently for travel arrangements. And being kept in the dark like a mushroom further exasperates the situation, as does seeing other people getting their passports within a few weeks when we have been waiting 19!
I applied May 8th was sent to Arizona on June 7. I contacted my state senate and rep towards the end of July because I need my passport to apply for student visa. They contacted the state department and got my passport overnighted to me after 3 days. So if you have a legitimate reason and can prove that it’s not for a vacation, you senate or rep can attempt to expedite your passport if it’s not life or death, but relocation, student visa type things.
My husband applied for his passport August 28 in New York queens post office. September 05 the status was saying : in process. And last Saturday September 19 he received an email saying his passport has been shipped:)) it may arrive this week !

Melvin Maina I was in the same boat, I got my previous passport when I was 12 and it expired once I turned 17. I applied July 10th for a brand new passport and it came August 17. But I know a girl who applied the same exact weekend and is still waiting. And many other people have applied months before me and still have nothing. It just feels random at this point
Melvin Maina Honestly it is hard to say. It really comes down to which agency they send it to, and what phase they are in. I was lucky enough for them to send it to the New York Agency where they are in phase 2 for processing. I would recommend calling them and finding out where your passport went to and see what phase they are in. It could be in a few weeks or a few months, it just depends on the agency.
@bobby kotata Rush service isn't available except in life/death situations. Regular service is still available. The problem is "regular" service looks to be taking 4/5 months or longer in some cases.
I applied on August 31st. New York passport agency received it on September 4th. My application was approved on September 24th. Do not waste any time. If you need passport, go ahead and apply.

I mailed my passport on 08/24/20 from NJ and was sent to New Hampshire office. I just received my passport today 9/24/20. I hope it gives hope to someone waiting for their passport

I'm from California. I mailed my application to renew my passport on July 27th. They got it the following week. It got approved August 13th. I recieved my passport and passport card on August 17th.

We applied for ours in March and finally got them yesterday. Now we just need to wait for Canada to open up again 🙄 We're just waiting for our documents to return.

Okay guys. I know how it can be waiting on that passport! So here’s my update. Applied in a city called Schaumburg, IL. On July 31st. Initially I didn’t get a email that it was being processed. I called a few weeks later to the hotline and I was told it was being processed at the Chicago facility. On Monday September 28th I received an email saying it’s being processed 😱 and that it could take up to 10-12 weeks to receive my passport! I became really nervous because my trip is in November and I thought it was already being processed! Then that same night on September 28th I received an email stating that I’ve been approved! 🙌🏾 then the following day (yesterday) September 29th I was told that my passport been shipped and upon looking up the tracking number it will arrive on this Friday October 2nd. So what I been seeing is that most people are getting their passports about 2 months after applying. For those that want to know this wasn’t a renewal application. I applied for a new passport because I misplaced my original. Hope you guys get yours soon! They did open up the option for it to be expedited (I didn’t do this)

I applied July 27th and it was processing by August 3rd. I call today and they told me my passport is at the NH center. They ask when is the date of travel and I told them October 25th. The lady told she will add it to the top of my application. I hope that helps it get approved faster. Updated: I looked in my email today and my passport was approved and shipped. I will receive it on 09/30/2020.
Hi! I just wanted to give hope to those out there waiting. I applied at my local USPS office in Chicago,IL on 07/16/2020. I got the email notification that it was 'In Process' on 07/29. I then received an email on 08/31 that it was approved & mailed . I received my passport book only (I purchased the book and card) on 09/03. When I called prior to me receiving the passport they said it was being processed at the Connecticut office. When I checked to see where it was shipped from, it said Arkansas. I also have not received my birth certificate back yet. I hope this helps someone! 💕

@@chikaturrm I emailed my Congresswoman on 9/2, I got a call from the Charleston location on 9/3 that they will be expediting my passport. I paid a fee and on 9/4 I got a email that my passport was shipped. I will get my passport by 9/9.

My son and husband applied for their passport in April. We had travel plans on 8/21, and they were sent to South Carolina. Tried what a gentleman down below said about calling your local congressman and seeing if they could expedite your passport and they surely did!!! Called them yesterday 8/17/2020, received an email today (8/18) stating the passports had been processed and would be delivered via ups and got a notification a few hours later saying it would be delivered tomorrow 8/19! I had mailed my application in Aug 21 and called their customer service just this Monday, paid $60 over the phone they got it processed within 24 hours! Received my passport today :)

I applied new passport on March 19 (Right before their cut off date), waited 5 months, finally received approval email on August 19th, received my passport on 21st (pretty fast considering they use usps)
Anyone that has a passport from the New Orleans office (you can find out by calling the passport hotline and mentioning your first/last name and social or passport number) they went into phase two about two weeks ago when the storms were suppose to hit and had to close. They are now in phase 2. I sent my passport out June 23rd and was processing after about a week, I just was approved today and it says I am going to receive my passport on september 20! Operations are starting to speed up a bit!

The passport was suppose to come.in seven days but I got it yesterday. It even came earlier than what the shipping said so it only took about three days. If your passport is accepted you can call the agency for a tracking number. :)

I applied June 6th from Kansas City, Missouri. i found out after calling it was sent to Atlanta, GA. I received an email last week saying that it was accepted and I will receive it around August 22nd. EDIT: the tracking number says it was shipped from Tucsan, AZ and I received it today August 19th.
My dad's is also at charleston. When I called, they told me that there is phase 1 now. Still waiting. If I dont get it by this week, I have to postpone his flight which is on 16th 🥶

Thanks. You are VASTLY more informative and helpful than the government. I sent my passport to Philadelphia in late June (I think it was 6/26). I'm in Seattle. As of 6 August I still have not received it back. I obviously have zero idea which office it was sent to (they don't provide that information), but the State Department does confirm it's being processed. Fingers crossed, as I may need to fly to Asia with short notice for work.
Will end up receiving my passport in less than 4 weeks. I followed the advice of others. -Applied in person at the county office, Nashville, TN -Waited about 7-8 days for the status to appear, called and found the location of the passport (Charleston, SC for me) -Emailed the local congressperson to see if it could be expedited -Received notification it is completed and being sent out priority mail
@@GaryChanggtrette Hi Gary, the congressperson's site usually has a form you can fill out (help with a federal agency). I think it really depends on your representative. Mine responded within 3 days.
thank you so much. I called the Passport agency with the number you provided. The passport agency does not forward passports when you move. I was able to give them my new address. Whewwww. I am not going to need it until April 2021. I am going to France and my passport was expiring a month after I was leaving France. It has to be in effect for three months.

I put my application in on February 5 2020 for a replacement passport. I have called 5 times to check on it and they can’t give me an update. I had to change all my plan because I can drive thru Canada without a passport. I want to move out of Alaska.

Hi Heather Virgo, sorry you didn’t have the same luck as I did. I would imagine some congressman have better “pull” than others. That’s the only thing I can think of plus I thin k the fact that we received my 2 sons passports and all three were due to travel helped us as well. Sorry, but it was worth the effort. Live in NYC applied for my passport at my local post office June 5th and my application was sent to Arkansas and should be getting it in the mail tomorrow about a little over 2 months.
I sent in my passport for renewal on Aprl 2nd from Guilford county NC. They cashed my check, but their website has no record. I called last week and they confirmed receipt, gave me the application # and told me to call back in 1 month.
I feel so bad because they’re telling people it’s first come, first served but that’s clearly not true. Some people in the comments applied February-May and are still waiting. I only had to wait 5 weeks. I applied last month. It honestly just seems random at this point. I’d encourage everyone to apply, because if you wait until phase 3 there’s gonna be a HUGE flood of applications. Might as well just start the process now
taghreed rulia you can definitely say all that, but that’s not at all what’s happening. If you have an emergency, they’ll expedite your passport. You don’t have to tell others what to do, it won’t affect you
It's likely the case that it's "first come/first serve" basis within each processing center. But clearly SOME processing centers are faster than others. Many/most are still in phase one, according to the government. A few have entered phase two.
I applied in late February and still have not received mine. The online status says "In Process." Earlier they also had the application received date on this form, but now that has been removed.

After you have applied and your application has been accepted, call the number from the website to check you application status and tell them your travel dates. That is what I did and I received it 2 weeks prior to my flight. 😁
Let me know what happens? My Aunt got hers within 3 days by going to a passport agency (she made an appointment) and she showed she was traveling but they are not offering expedited services??!?!?! They did for her! So honestly you should make an appointment with them and show your travel plans because at this point it seems like they are offering fast services for people with urgent travel plans..
@@jc8603 According to the government website, "in person" rush processing is available only for "life and death" emergencies. Who knows if all the info they provide is accurate, but that's what they say. I think the rule of thumb these days should be: don't buy a ticket until you have your passport OR make sure ticket is fully refundable.

Do you know anything about the process for Americans living abroad and where their passports are routed to (i.e. Is there a passport center especially for out-of-country applicants or are these applications processed just like the others?) I'm living in France and have been waiting since the beginning of all of this to give them time to work on the backlog but even today the backlog still sits at about 900,000, and hasn't been moving much in the past month or two.
Well I got a letter from Virginia and I'm in CA, requesting additonal information regarding my passport. I've been waiting since June. So there's probably more offices than the 2 you mentioned.
ill check into that one i don't think va has a processing place and for them to send a letter sounds like a red flag go to the nearst federal building they usally do passprot handling or there is an agencey and ask them best to confrim...
I applied for a new passport after oath ceremony / naturalization process. I also had a name change. On the application I put my changed name but was required copy of secondary photo ID addition to original cert. of naturalization. The postal worker who had taken my app simply made a photo copy of my driver license with my birth name and stated that it will not be an issue during application process. As I research more into this I am getting bit worried that submitting the driver license with my old name will be a serious issue?. I have NO government issued iD with my newly changed name besides the Certificate of Naturalization. Could this cause major delay of obtaining my passport? Any advise? Thank you.
I also submit my application with new name like urs and postal worker submit my application with new name neutralization certificate and driving license with old name she said she doesn’t want court order name change ..she didn’t tell me that it will slow application process
@@taghreedrulia5168 That's old, pre-pandemic language, I'm pretty sure. Current backlog is about 4-5 months. That's just an average, though; some offices are quicker, and some (like NH) are likely slower. Average processing times should increase as more centers enter phase II and phase III.

First of all thank you for the great videos ...I’ve applied for my US passport on June 12 and finally today i have received an email saying that its been approved and will be sent to me , i will probably get it on the 18 Th. of August... @@ufuktunaoglu4199 I just checked on the status of my applications and it's now showing that it's "in process" , so hopefully it gets approved. I'm glad that I applied now because who knows when I would've applied for one. I went to Walgreens to get my passport photos taken, and I noticed that the pictures did not come out clear but my face was still noticeable to the eye. Hopefully that won't be a problem.
I got a notification today (8/12/2020) via e-mail that my passport was finally approved and that I should receive my book & card "on or around 08/18/2020." I submitted my application at the post office in San Diego, CA on 05/19/2020, check cashed 06/04/2020. So it looks like they're still close to their average wait time of 6-8 weeks, as mine took a little more than 9 weeks and a couple days. Patience is really the key in all of this. Now if countries outside of Mexico will start allowing U.S. citizens in lol.
Just curious, do you know how people are notified if their passport was revoked? I got a strange call the other day that said my passport was revoked. I honestly think it was a scam because it was clearly a recording even when I answered.

The status have been “in process” ever since. I’m very hopeful that I’ll receive it in time to study abroad this fall after hearing that some people who sent them in at the same time as me have already gotten theirs back. Thanks for the information. I sent my renewal on May 11 from Texas. It showed up in system on June 7. I've been calling to see if I could get an update. On July 20 I was told it was approved and ready to be printed and to check my email at the end of week for shipping details. Email never came. Called everyday this week and yesterday was told it's at the Western Processing Facility in AZ, but they haven't even began Phase I. Why would they send it to a facility that's not even open. When I asked the reason he told me to refer to the website for "Processing during Covid 19". This is beyond frustrating. My son applied for a NEW PASSPORT the same day I sent in my renewal and he received his passport on July 11 from the Arkansas Facility. If a passport facility is not in Phase I does that mean they are not working? I just don't understand this??
Willa Provost I know how frustrating it is trying to get answers when all they do is read from a script. They’re obviously not processing them all in the order they’re received which is indeed frustrating. I’ll let you know if I ever get mine but that’s all the insight I can provide! I just wanted to empathize as I’ve spent weeks sending emails with specific questions only to get a copy pasted reply. Good luck with yours mate!

Applied for 3 passports (1 adult 2 children) on March 20th Dallas TX. Check cashed 23rd. Website updated to say in process. NOTHING AT ALL until July 14th when we received an email saying processing. That was 18 days ago and still nothing since. Passport application is currently in Charleston SC.
Extremely painful to be kept waiting like this when the passports are needed urgently for travel arrangements. And being kept in the dark like a mushroom further exasperates the situation, as does seeing other people getting their passports within a few weeks when we have been waiting 19!
I applied May 8th was sent to Arizona on June 7. I contacted my state senate and rep towards the end of July because I need my passport to apply for student visa. They contacted the state department and got my passport overnighted to me after 3 days. So if you have a legitimate reason and can prove that it’s not for a vacation, you senate or rep can attempt to expedite your passport if it’s not life or death, but relocation, student visa type things.
My husband applied for his passport August 28 in New York queens post office. September 05 the status was saying : in process. And last Saturday September 19 he received an email saying his passport has been shipped:)) it may arrive this week !

Melvin Maina I was in the same boat, I got my previous passport when I was 12 and it expired once I turned 17. I applied July 10th for a brand new passport and it came August 17. But I know a girl who applied the same exact weekend and is still waiting. And many other people have applied months before me and still have nothing. It just feels random at this point
Melvin Maina Honestly it is hard to say. It really comes down to which agency they send it to, and what phase they are in. I was lucky enough for them to send it to the New York Agency where they are in phase 2 for processing. I would recommend calling them and finding out where your passport went to and see what phase they are in. It could be in a few weeks or a few months, it just depends on the agency.
@bobby kotata Rush service isn't available except in life/death situations. Regular service is still available. The problem is "regular" service looks to be taking 4/5 months or longer in some cases.
I applied on August 31st. New York passport agency received it on September 4th. My application was approved on September 24th. Do not waste any time. If you need passport, go ahead and apply.

Okay guys. I know how it can be waiting on that passport! So here’s my update. Applied in a city called Schaumburg, IL. On July 31st. Initially I didn’t get a email that it was being processed. I called a few weeks later to the hotline and I was told it was being processed at the Chicago facility. On Monday September 28th I received an email saying it’s being processed 😱 and that it could take up to 10-12 weeks to receive my passport! I became really nervous because my trip is in November and I thought it was already being processed! Then that same night on September 28th I received an email stating that I’ve been approved! 🙌🏾 then the following day (yesterday) September 29th I was told that my passport been shipped and upon looking up the tracking number it will arrive on this Friday October 2nd. So what I been seeing is that most people are getting their passports about 2 months after applying. For those that want to know this wasn’t a renewal application. I applied for a new passport because I misplaced my original. Hope you guys get yours soon! They did open up the option for it to be expedited (I didn’t do this)

I applied July 27th and it was processing by August 3rd. I call today and they told me my passport is at the NH center. They ask when is the date of travel and I told them October 25th. The lady told she will add it to the top of my application. I hope that helps it get approved faster.

I just wanted to give hope to those out there waiting.
I applied at my local USPS office in Chicago,IL on 07/16/2020. I got the email notification that it was 'In Process' on 07/29. I then received an email on 08/31 that it was approved & mailed . I received my passport book only (I purchased the book and card) on 09/03.
When I called prior to me receiving the passport they said it was being processed at the Connecticut office. When I checked to see where it was shipped from, it said Arkansas.
I also have not received my birth certificate back yet.

My son and husband applied for their passport in April. We had travel plans on 8/21, and they were sent to South Carolina. Tried what a gentleman down below said about calling your local congressman and seeing if they could expedite your passport and they surely did!!! Called them yesterday 8/17/2020, received an email today (8/18) stating the passports had been processed and would be delivered via ups and got a notification a few hours later saying it would be delivered tomorrow 8/19! Please try this!!!!

I had mailed my application in Aug 21 and called their customer service just this Monday, paid $60 over the phone they got it processed within 24 hours!

Anyone that has a passport from the New Orleans office (you can find out by calling the passport hotline and mentioning your first/last name and social or passport number) they went into phase two about two weeks ago when the storms were suppose to hit and had to close. They are now in phase 2. I sent my passport out June 23rd and was processing after about a week, I just was approved today and it says I am going to receive my passport on september 20! Operations are starting to speed up a bit!

The passport was suppose to come.in seven days but I got it yesterday. It even came earlier than what the shipping said so it only took about three days. If your passport is accepted you can call the agency for a tracking number. :)

I applied June 6th from Kansas City, Missouri. i found out after calling it was sent to Atlanta, GA. I received an email last week saying that it was accepted and I will receive it around August 22nd. EDIT: the tracking number says it was shipped from Tucsan, AZ and I received it today August 19th.
They also sent my passport application to Charleston, and they can't tell me if they are in phase 1 or not. I'm stressing really bad right now

Same here and Charleston doesn't show up on the list of passport agencies probably because its a private facility. We have been waiting over 4 months.

Thanks. You are VASTLY more informative and helpful than the government. I sent my passport to Philadelphia in late June (I think it was 6/26). I'm in Seattle. As of 6 August I still have not received it back. I obviously have zero idea which office it was sent to (they don't provide that information), but the State Department does confirm it's being processed. Fingers crossed, as I may need to fly to Asia with short notice for work.

-Applied in person at the county office, Nashville, TN
-Waited about 7-8 days for the status to appear, called and found the location of the passport (Charleston, SC for me)
-Emailed the local congressperson to see if it could be expedited
-Received notification it is completed and being sent out priority mail

thank you so much. I called the Passport agency with the number you provided. The passport agency does not forward passports when you move. I was able to give them my new address. Whewwww. I am not going to need it until April 2021. I am going to France and my passport was expiring a month after I was leaving France. It has to be in effect for three months.

I put my application in on February 5 2020 for a replacement passport. I have called 5 times to check on it and they can’t give me an update. I had to change all my plan because I can drive thru Canada without a passport. I want to move out of Alaska.

Hi Heather Virgo, sorry you didn’t have the same luck as I did. I would imagine some congressman have better “pull” than others. That’s the only thing I can think of plus I thin k the fact that we received my 2 sons passports and all three were due to travel helped us as well. Sorry, but it was worth the effort. I sent in my passport for renewal on Aprl 2nd from Guilford county NC. They cashed my check, but their website has no record. I called last week and they confirmed receipt, gave me the application # and told me to call back in 1 month.
I feel so bad because they’re telling people it’s first come, first served but that’s clearly not true. Some people in the comments applied February-May and are still waiting. I only had to wait 5 weeks. I applied last month. It honestly just seems random at this point. I’d encourage everyone to apply, because if you wait until phase 3 there’s gonna be a HUGE flood of applications. Might as well just start the process now

taghreed rulia you can definitely say all that, but that’s not at all what’s happening. If you have an emergency, they’ll expedite your passport. You don’t have to tell others what to do, it won’t affect you

It's likely the case that it's "first come/first serve" basis within each processing center. But clearly SOME processing centers are faster than others. Many/most are still in phase one, according to the government. A few have entered phase two.

After you have applied and your application has been accepted, call the number from the website to check you application status and tell them your travel dates. That is what I did and I received it 2 weeks prior to my flight. 😁

Let me know what happens? My Aunt got hers within 3 days by going to a passport agency (she made an appointment) and she showed she was traveling but they are not offering expedited services??!?!?! They did for her! So honestly you should make an appointment with them and show your travel plans because at this point it seems like they are offering fast services for people with urgent travel plans..
@@jc8603 According to the government website, "in person" rush processing is available only for "life and death" emergencies. Who knows if all the info they provide is accurate, but that's what they say. I think the rule of thumb these days should be: don't buy a ticket until you have your passport OR make sure ticket is fully refundable.

Once shipped I got mine in less than 48 hours from 200 miles away. Took over 4 months for them to process it but shipping was not an issue.

Do you know anything about the process for Americans living abroad and where their passports are routed to (i.e. Is there a passport center especially for out-of-country applicants or are these applications processed just like the others?) I'm living in France and have been waiting since the beginning of all of this to give them time to work on the backlog but even today the backlog still sits at about 900,000, and hasn't been moving much in the past month or two.
Well I got a letter from Virginia and I'm in CA, requesting additonal information regarding my passport. I've been waiting since June. So there's probably more offices than the 2 you mentioned.
ill check into that one i don't think va has a processing place and for them to send a letter sounds like a red flag go to the nearst federal building they usally do passprot handling or there is an agencey and ask them best to confrim...
I applied for a new passport after oath ceremony / naturalization process. I also had a name change. On the application I put my changed name but was required copy of secondary photo ID addition to original cert. of naturalization. The postal worker who had taken my app simply made a photo copy of my driver license with my birth name and stated that it will not be an issue during application process. As I research more into this I am getting bit worried that submitting the driver license with my old name will be a serious issue?.
I have NO government issued iD with my newly changed name besides the Certificate of Naturalization. Could this cause major delay of obtaining my passport?

@@taghreedrulia5168 That's old, pre-pandemic language, I'm pretty sure. Current backlog is about 4-5 months. That's just an average, though; some offices are quicker, and some (like NH) are likely slower. Average processing times should increase as more centers enter phase II and phase III.

@@ufuktunaoglu4199 I just checked on the status of my applications and it's now showing that it's "in process" , so hopefully it gets approved. I'm glad that I applied now because who knows when I would've applied for one. I went to Walgreens to get my passport photos taken, and I noticed that the pictures did not come out clear but my face was still noticeable to the eye. Hopefully that won't be a problem.
I got a notification today (8/12/2020) via e-mail that my passport was finally approved and that I should receive my book & card "on or around 08/18/2020." I submitted my application at the post office in San Diego, CA on 05/19/2020, check cashed 06/04/2020. So it looks like they're still close to their average wait time of 6-8 weeks, as mine took a little more than 9 weeks and a couple days. Patience is really the key in all of this. Now if countries outside of Mexico will start allowing U.S. citizens in lol.

Just curious, do you know how people are notified if their passport was revoked? I got a strange call the other day that said my passport was revoked. I honestly think it was a scam because it was clearly a recording even when I answered.
I applied with my mother in law and fiancé back in April. My mother in law and I got our passports 6 weeks later but we are still waiting for my fiancé’s passport with no word.

Are passport renewals faster than applying for a first/new one? I just sent in for a renewal on Friday 8/6.
I'm hearing it's just the opposite. Renewals take longer.
