I cried big time, when I saw this. My mum and Dad have gone, they are up there in a lovely place, with no harm no hurt and more importantly, they are together. This great ride, my dad took me on. I was a mere 6 years old, and I loved it! I am now coming up to my 58 birthday next week. Just to say thank you. Happy Memories for me. And yes, I shed a few tears as well, big time!!!
Hi Nigel, hope you had a lovely birthday. With the memories and emotional attachments to these rides, I know exactly where you are coming from. It's something to cherish. All the best. :)
It is the greatest ride of all time!!! Blackpool, wouldn't be Blackpool, without it!! Oh I'm from Stourport in Worcestershire and from 6 years to 58 years, but remember it, and loads of fond memories, and now with loads and loads of tears! I think you know why!! Thank you for those lovely birthday wishes it was wonderful, but again with a few tears, oh and few too many drinks! Milk? No, it was beer!!
I feel you, I’m fortunate to still have my mum & Dad still with me, I was about 8 when my mum took me on this, I’m now 51 just seeing this, brings back so many happy memories for me.
@@juliemenzies6387 Thanks for that. It's lovely to hear from someone who loved the ride, indeed, the whole of Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I hope you agree with this bit I'm about to say. It's not the same anymore. Loads of rides have gone, that shouldn't have. Remember the Mineshaft ride? The Log flume? The Octopus ride? The Cable car ride, all over the park? The Monorail again all over the park? Magic Mountain? The inside roller coaster in the dark? I've forget it's name, but I remember Alton towers had the same ride, and that wasn't safe either! The Grand National? In fact, anyone else remember these rides and more! Get in touch and let me know your memories of Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Nigel in the West Midlands
I can't believe this is still operating. I went on it as a six year old (44 years ago) fully intend to take my (reluctant) 17yo on it next week. Thanks for posting.
ghost train will stay, it is populer an it's the worlds first to use the term ghosttrain. alice NEEDS remodeling. new animatronics ans more refferances to the original book to break away from the disney and fear of a lawsuit. I would like to see some projections too.
www.ukrides.info agreed the ghost train and Alice are absolutely fine as they are they just need to keep on top of maintaining the theming/effects on both the inside and the outside, The most I would do is update a couple of scenes in the ghost train with the rocks fall on the Wee the corridor you go through and maybe some slight adjustments to the scene where the big gargoyle is in but other than that it's fine the way it is.
I’m actually crying watching this video. This ride is by far my favourite ride at the Pleasure Beach, everything about it is so magical and wonderful and this video perfectly captures it. The music is just...urgh!!!!!!!
I remember this ride when we used to go to Blackpool in the 80s, does anybody remember the awesome smell that came from the popcorn guy across from this ride? omg it was the best smell ever !
1:37 My favorite song from Alice in Wonderland the interior ride is called main titles with the high pitched version or the higher pitched version music by Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.
As a 1 or 2 year old this ride traumatised me I was so scared of it and I just have memories of it like humpty dumpty falling of the wall and the cats what you ride in and the track that goes up in the air.
Used to gon this ride every year from 1998 (4years old) till 15(2009) planning to go on this again end of the year, me and my fam went up about 3 weeks ago just did not have the money for pleasure beach but hoping to bring the nostagia back sometime in the future :)
I always thought the music inside the ride (I’ve Got A Golden Ticket) sounded very wonderland to me guessing the makers of the rides thought the same. I love it to bits! Love going on it once a year when I visit blackpool!
Love the Last song Reg, was used on the ride in the 70's if iI remember correctly. It was on the B side of the Dr Who theme record that was in use when Tom baker was doctor.
Hi... I think we'd ALL like to know! This is the music used inside the ride... why they use Willy Wonka music for Alice in Wonderland nobody seems to know!
LOL - I thought that to! - Have you seen my POV of that? - You can hear me trying to sing Gangsta's Paradise along with it! ua-cam.com/video/gxNpAgskaWM/v-deo.htmlm35s
A good question often asked Veloci! The owners of Blackpool were good friends with Walt Disney, he visited them often seeking inspiration for Disneyland. So the Alice ride at Blackpool was built on licence, permission and with support from Disney who assisted with the theming. The Alice rides were built by Arrow, who acted as Disney's go-to ride manufacturer. Blackpool also had a good relationship with Arrow who went on to built the Steeplechase, Revolution, and Big One.
While my older cousin went on this ride, me and his younger sister went on The Big Dipper instead.. I was about 14 and she was about 12. He was about 15 - big girl's blouse.. lol
Hi Kayla. :-) Yep... never found out why, but for some reason this is the music Blackpool have been playing inside the ride for as long as I've known it... (and I'm old!) LOL But its pretty much exactly as you hear it looped here.
www.ukrides.info oh really, that’s cool! I kind of assumed that this one would’ve been around longer since Alice in wonderland probably has more cultural relevancy in England than America.
I don’t even know what or were this is because I live in America but looks good. I looked this up because my sister and her little girl is coming in 2 months it looks like a good place comment some other rides please I already know about this ride because my sister showed me some pictures thanks xx beth

The Fun house and my favourite, apart from Alice and Wonderland, Noahs Ark, now I'm showing my age!

Track at the end is called reg and was the b side of the dr who theme when it came out on 7 inch single
1:08 My favorite song from Alice in Wonderland the exterior ride called cuckoo waltz
The music playing at the end is a track called “Reg” and it was the B Side of the 1970s issue of the Doctor Who theme music as a single.
1:37 My favorite song from Alice in Wonderland the interior ride is called main titles with the high pitched version or the higher pitched version music by Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.
Thanks for that - I haven't ridden Alice for many many years, so nice to have a look inside again!
+davidjellis Its a shame we don't yet have the technology so include smells, I love the sweet scent pots they use in Alice. :-)
1:37 I don't see some tropical birds, a lion and the cracks on the back of Humpty Dumpty in Alice in wonderland ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Anyone who's been on this ride can smell this video. It smells old and musty, but in a very pleasant, welcoming way.
In recent years Jess, they've used smell pots, it smells a bit like fizzy sweets in there!
@@ukridesinfo Awesome!
Won, that smell was the sparks from the track and rust, if they weren't there the ride wouldn't be the same.
That ride has changed such a lot since I last rode it.
As a 1 or 2 year old this ride traumatised me I was so scared of it and I just have memories of it like humpty dumpty falling of the wall and the cats what you ride in and the track that goes up in the air.
I used to go on that ride so much when I was younger
As an 11 year old girl this was one of the best things I have experienced in my entire life.
CreepyPasta Trash may be someone spiked your food or drink with LSD
I wonder why inside the ride music is I got a golden ticket?

Why is the music from the original Charlie & the Chocolate factory film used on this ride!??
Nobody has ever answered this question Kath!! lol I wish somebody somewhere knew!
I always thought the music inside the ride (I’ve Got A Golden Ticket) sounded very wonderland to me guessing the makers of the rides thought the same.
I love it to bits! Love going on it once a year when I visit blackpool!
An amazing dark ride.
I've got a golden ticket from Willy Wonka in alice in wonderland.
Both of my favorite stories in one! Great!
I love the song
2 stories from the same country.
Could never get my head round why
Great video
Love the Last song Reg, was used on the ride in the 70's if iI remember correctly. It was on the B side of the Dr Who theme record that was in use when Tom baker was doctor.
Ah! BBC Radiophonic Music! lol :-)
I remember going on thsi ride when I was a little boy, many years ago.
Great video !
I’m actually very emotional watching this, was about 8 when I went in this for the first time, I’m now 51
0:07 what’s the song called?
Cuckoo Waltz
why the willy wonka music...?
Hi... I think we'd ALL like to know! This is the music used inside the ride... why they use Willy Wonka music for Alice in Wonderland nobody seems to know!
When Ever I watched willy wonka I think of this ride and vide a versa. :)
They play Gangsta's Paradise in the Willy Wonka one.

I find this more scary than the ghost train
Pleasure beach is also called pleasure island from Pinocchio like in real life
Why hasn't blackpool been sued for ripping off the Alice in wonderland dark ride at Disneyland and using I got a golden ticket for Willy wonka?

LOL We ALL wonder how that happened!
Always remember the shout ' o yay o yay welcolmation by queen Alice '
What’s the name of the music in the ride
It's from the original 'Charlie & the Chocolate Factory'.
I went on this ride when I was a kid were crying after all these years later never been on in since
LOL Am sure you'll be less frightened these days Trevor! ;-)

Huh, I wonder if the Disneyland ride took any inspiration from this because a few elements seem very similar
Actually, its the other way around! Blackpool bought the rights from Disney, this is the Blackpool version of the Disneyland ride! :-)

why Wonka? makes no sense ? 🙁
🙁 or does it ?
I've never understood why either! lol
This is so cool I been on it
Woah what’s up with the music? It’s just a loop of the Willy Wonka overture? And it’s not even looped well!
We've all been wondering this for years Katie!
I guess the tickets to the ride should be golden…
I love the one from Disneyland, this one feels neutral.
The music
LOL The music is the music from the ride itself, both the indoor and outdoor sections.
Idc about this ride i jsut care about that theme song. REEALLL BANGERRR TUNE

What a knockoff of Disneyland Alice in wonderland ride
The idea was actually gifted to Blackpool by Walt Disney since Blackpool pleasure beach was one of his many inspirations for Disneyland
