Love the video, I have been looking forward to this review. A bit of friendly critique though, I was disappointed that you didn't show the colors of the tablet at all. For a screen I would say it's really important. The B&W image is nice, but I miss seeing some colors, or color comparisons. You also didn't show the stand at all, which is not a big deal, but I would have liked to see it, especially at the lower angles.
Hi Brad, I would suggest you to dive deeper on color accuracy and color drawings when testing Wacom alternatives. It is the major drawback that I see people talking on forums and almost any review talks about that. Since you have an iMac, it easier to compare how colors look when they are side by side with a great monitor. Thanks!
You should get an XRite or a Spyder color calibrator. The lower level ones are just for monitor calibration and the higher cost ones are for monitor and printer calibration. They really aren’t hard to use and once you start calibrating you’ll be so happy to see more consistency across screens. It saves you going back later to correct color problems when you switch your graphic from one platform to another. Also be aware that the brightness of your device skews how you perceive the color. Also Photographers like higher color gamets ( range of color i.e ADOBE RGB or other higher ranges) for editing but often have to reduce to sRGB for printing . I don’t do animation so I only suppose that 120% sRGB will give you suitable color for most animation to be viewed on screen as that was a standard developed for screens. This is the most basic of basic info. Both of those companies have tons of good info on the web & UA-cam.
Honestly, yes. The color gamut from the previous gen of huion tablet limited the color contrast and other things with their tablets, and as someone who still uses the GT-191, it's noticeable. If the gamut is smaller than the one on your main monitor, it'll be noticeable, and you won't be able to make it match completely no matter how much you try. You can get close, but I've never been able to match it 100 percent even with a color calibrator. It's annoying. Apparently it also has something to do with the tablet's compatibility with certain GPU's, and you have to tweak settings on your graphics settings in order utilize what you have properly. Thankfully these new monitors increased its gamut size and so it's definitely better than it was before, but I imagine Huion had to still cut corners for it to have the price tag it has.
Aside from value for money, cheaper alternatives cannot equate what premium products can do in quality and accuracy. And it is expected. As long as they're not far off, slight shift in measurements is not a game changer for those with poverty issues. Premium tools are for those who can afford to have one. What hurts is when premium products are discovered with major drawbacks or defects. e.g. Microsoft Surface Pro bulging battery that pushes the screen from its frame, etc.
Longtime professional animator here. After about 15 years using a Wacom cintiq I recently upgraded to this tablet. Overall I am really impressed with it. The drawing experience is superb and the colours are actually better than my previous cintiq 21ux. My biggest issue, (which is fairly minor) is that on a Wacom I'm pretty sure the tilt data from the pen is incorporated into calculating parallax / the cursor position on the screen. (Imagine the pen like a laser pointer) On the kamvas, this is not the case. The cursor remains in the same place irrespective of the pen tilt. It's a nuance that I dearly miss. Perhaps there's a work around?
you can try to calibrate the tablet again or update the driver. coz it seem like a driver issue and if not you can contact Huion for that and will send youa fix. also you are the first to mention this than the other reviews and people who own it so i think it is the driver.
Hi Malcom, same here, I've been using Wacom 20 years-ish, love them but was looking at good non-touch large tablets. What software are you using for animation? I use TOONBOOM software and apparently HUION don't work properly with their software.
@@GprRjo yes, i found lots of threads of people reporting strange behaviour of non Wacom tablets with Toonboom, about the drawing aspect. There is a review of the Kamvas 22 plus specifically reporting that unfortunately. Also, if you check the configuration specs of Toonboom software on their website, you’ll see that they only support Wacom tablets :/ I wish I could get this tablet to but the main software I use is Harmony..
@@GprRjo I tried asking Huion about it and they told me it should work fine with Toonboom but refused to offer me to return the product for free if I had a problem with it...
Bought the device this spring for my ZBrush/Maya sculpting. It has everything MOST of users need from a graphical display. Had no any problems with it so far. And haters remind me of apple sectarians.
I also wanted this tablet for Zbrush/Maya, but I have pencil-fright. Give me a mouse, I can apply my details in Zbrush, but a pen? brrr dunno. I also don't use Zbrush for modeling, just for detailing premade models I do in Maya, dunno if it's even worth getting this device. So undecided.
It seems nice but 1080p at that size is too low and price a bit too high when you consider it isn't that much different than other huion priducts. I plan on buying a pen display really soon and I think I'll be getting a kamvas 16. It's a good size and has a more attractive price.
its not high. its 22 inch with laminated screen and High RGB colors + shortcut key on the side. but the 16 pro is better you should have gone for that.
I instead recommend the 22, BY FAR, even if is coarser pixels. Is NOT a key problem for production work. Real state, not working zoomed in all the time (global view of the composition at all times), surface to work on complex illustrations (and ease for the eye and eyesight), possibility of a more relaxed pose for long hours, ability to paint from shoulder or elbow for firm line/curves while inking, all that is more important. The "seeing the pixels" is more of an OCD thing. And often caused by people working WAY too close to the screen, which will deteriorate your eyesight real quick, if not positioning yourself (and your back and neck) correctly. Of course, for same reasons, a 16 much better than a 13" tablet, a 12" Surface, or the 12,9" iPad Pro, if those are the options at all possible instead of the 22. Which they aren't as the 22R is 700 euros and the Kanvas Pro 22 2019 , 770. Even the 22E is 600 euros. Surely cheaper in Amazon US and each brand's own local online sites. Is not as it's that far from the 16 versions. Save a few months more and that's it, IMO...
I have to admit, I was kinda looking forward to a little more in depth review of the hardware. I decided to upgrade my ASUS PT201Q and dropped the money for the Artist Display 22E Pro from XP Pen instead of my original plan to hold out for this or the updated 22E Pro (which I presume will inevitably arrive at some point). I wanted to see what I was missing out on by going with the current model. Not much apparently. Aside from the bonded display, color space, touch bar and the cable free pen, you could have been describing the 22E pro. What I didn't see, what I thought you would touch upon, are the number of same or similar sized product being sold for less than half the price of this unit. As I type this the XP Pen Artist 22E Pro is being sold for $399 that a 10% off coupon can be applied to at check out so it becomes even cheaper. Does the Huion really offer enough to justify that price difference? I don't know, it just seems like every Cintiq alternative review can be summed up by the phrase "It's fine but it's not a Wacom" and the ultimate test for determining whether or not a company has botched their release is if it produces an effect that is actually billed as a feature in the Rebelle software. I'm just at a loss to figure out why with all this time and all this hardware and with all these reviews from so many users we still can't answer the simple question of whether a tablet is worthy *without* mentioning that it isn't a Wacom. That's usually the given that drives people to watch these reviews in the first place. Isn't it?
How is the color calibration on the 22E Pro? I was using Astropad on my iPad but did not like the continuous disconnections. Now I am considering the XP Pen 22E or 15.6 Pro. I do photo editing and print a lot, and while I mainly use my iMac monitor during the printing process, I am curious how off my color might be?
@@edgaribarria I haven't done an official color correction on it yet. I plan on getting a Spyder when I can. While it's in sRGB mode, the whites are too blue out of the box. I usually rely on my second monitor for checking or working on color (when I feel I need to). The money I saved by getting the 22E makes it possible for me to upgrade that too. I'm currently researching affordable color accurate monitors.
Reviewers compair other tablets to Wacom simply for the reason you stated If he ended the review with "it's good" as opposed too "it's good but it isn't Wacom" then people who are used to getting Wacom products will expect it an equivalent performance. It's easy to compair good products to terrible ones, but for consumers to determine what is worth our money we wanna know how well it stacks up to the best of the best.
In every review of the Huion Kamvas line, A glove is apparently included, but I bought 2 of Kamvases, one for work, and one for home.. None of them had the glove.
An alternative to a graphic tablet displays, are products like the Surface Studio which have a larger screen, more accurate colors, use a more advanced lamination technology getting the tip closer to the image, and doesn't suffer from the edge tracking issues like this device. These edge and accuracy issues are also a problem with Wacom and other active stylus technologies. Look for updates to the Surface Studio that will be modular - rumors are still standing that a Surface Studio Screen will be available as a tablet/display to use with existing systems instead of being an all-in-one computer.
Just ordered the 2019 pro 20 from amazon for only $599 cad. I’m so excited. I’ve been using an iPad Pro for 2 years but it is started to really mess up my posture to have to bend over it so low.
The new drivers allow you to set different shortcuts for different applications, however the feature is kinda hidden, you have to click on the little gear at the top right of the driver
Thanks!!!! I was lurking for a video to see if ppl would avoid the slight jitter just with some slight stabilizer on in the app...Amazing to know that.
@@AndreaAlbcai No, every different monitor has different settings and the matt grip dulls the colours slightly anyway. You'll always want to tweak your colours on your main monitor. Wacom's have far brighter and sharper screens but have noisy fans and get hot to the touch. There are no easy choices when it comes to these displays annoyingly.
Got mine 2 weeks ago, was also looking at Wacom Cintiq 22HD ($500 more). Huion - lots of problems with drivers (I'm using a PC), tilt does not work and the drawing surface is slippery and smooth, just the opposite of what Huion claims. When asked about how they claim a paper like feel when there is not hint of friction on the drawing surface, well - now they tell me that is subjective... STILL, there is something about this Kamvas... They are trying, they are improving so I'm going to stick with it a bit longer and probably hold on to it. Tilt would be nice, better drivers too. A REAL etched screen and 4k... That'd work!
I just got the kamvas 16 pro and I've had zero issues with the drivers or anything. I works like a dream (also my first display tablet) my only complaint would be I'd like to turn the tilt function off? It makes my lines lighter or heavier in places I don't expect. I suppose it just takes some getting used to but overall these new kamvases are great imo! The only real difference between the 16 and 22, besides the size obviously, are the hotkeys and about 500$
I was suggested your channel and everything has been informative since I'm coming from a background with little knowledge on display tablets. I dunno if you'll see this, but I wanted to say that your site leads to this video for the Kamvas 22 Plus not the Kamvas 22 Pro. Other than that, thanks for all the info, I think I'm gonna grab myself a Huion, just have yet to pick a size. Keep up the good work!
With this new release, they must be cutting the price of the old one. how much would the older one have to be for the older one to be a better value? Or do you think the laminated display and the extra color gamut makes The old last generation model obsolete.
It depends on how much they cut the price by. The laminated display is nice, but compare this to the 22" XP-Pen that doesn't have lamination and this costs twice as much .
I tried using kamvas pro 12 and sold it off recently as it bothered my eyes a lot, back than I thought it was because of brightness setting but watching this review made me realize it was because of the graininess.
If you think about buying this tablet and WACOM fanboys scare you...dont listen to them. There are very good offers on the 2019 version, I got a 22 pro as second tablet for 550 Euros which I wanted to use at home. At "work" I use a wacom touch and sure it is better but tbh the only thing I really miss is the touch display. I still paint like 3+ hours daily on my kamvas pro and you can do everything with it that you can do with a wacom. It is a very solid starter tablet.
I am hoping to get this soon to add to my setup just so I can get into animation on Krita. I am going through a channel overhaul and replacing a lot, rebranding in hopes to become more professional.
A bit fed up as I bought the previous version last month. I wouldn’t mind so much but according to the specs all 20 express keys are now independently programmable, something that isn’t retrofitted to the older versions. Presumably this is a “selling point” for the new version, which is a bit annoying as it is probably something controlled by the drivers rather than the hardware.
Not sure what to get. Looking at huion pro 16, huion 22 pro, xp pen 22e artist. Im just after a tablet that i can draw quite detailed on. Im quite a slow steady drawer, but cross hatch / shade very fast. So may be more susceptible to fishhook. Not used to something on a stand as I am upgrading from paper. So the flatness of 16 seems nice, but willing to try stand
No I didn't. For me the xp pen was on sale at 400 compared to 695 for huion so probably would have been the better buy. But for this I didn't want to jump into a purchase. Not so overkeen on the emr side of the huion, as not certain about the technology, dont know how the other operates though. I guess the huion is better for my needs, but is it ???£ better. Down to your own circumstances
It would be great if we had a comparaison to the previous models of the kamvas pro. Huion justify the upgrade with the 120% srgb color gamut and the new full laminated screen. But is it noticeable and worth the extra money??
Only thing missing for me on these new tablets is thunderbolt support. Hate the cable clutter. Edit: just realised the wacom tablets don't even need thunderbolt, just standard USB C
That usb C is a 400 buck premium. That's why companies like Huion are gaining popularity. In 2 years, I won't mind dropping another 600 bucks if they radically upgrade it. Wacom on the other hand, for something comparable. you're looking at 2k.
Another con, I think that fullHD resolution is too low these days. for a 16 inches screen it may be enough, but for a 22 one, especially since you usually draw and look at it pretty close, it would be nice to have an higher sesolution, I mean even 1440p would be a step up.
That’s true! I think that there could def. be strides towards that area, even if it end up just being a 16 inch tablet. Though a lot of people do have higher res monitor that they set up these devices to. I think they need to create a different range, even if it’s a bit more expensive. But they are progressing.
IMKatar That does indeed have truth to it, tho I must say it's not that bad. I own the old version, and my normal 24" computer screens are full HD too - so me personally it doesn't bother me a lot, eventhough I'm closer to the tablet screen than normal ones. They also probably are so "affordable" due to not having 4K displays
@@silentaria3241 the problem with having a low resolution is when you're making someting precise and you're zoomed out. I make comics for the most part, and when I'm inking I try to not zoom in too much. Sometimes lines look fine, but then you zoom in and you can notice a lot of imperfections, split lines etc, that I couldn't see because the resolution wasn't high enough :(
Have you checked the little gear icon on the drivers' setting (next to the minimize and close button?), seems like Kamvas Pro 16 (in Windows?) have the setting to change shortcuts-for-apps through this so I wonder if the Kamvas 22 2019 have it as well.
Hello, Great video. Which one would you recommend? The Cintiq 16 (not pro) or this Huion Kamvas Pro 16? It would be my first tablet as I am used to draw in paper still.
how is this today in comparison to the 2022 version? There's a Halloween sale going on for 2 days and it says the Kamvas Pro 22 (2019) version is on sale for 499 Euros. Is it worth it? Better 2022 versions out there? I was initially wanting to get a 16 version for my tiny desk space but this deal is making me wonder if I could get a wall mount for it (table mount isn't an option with my table type) What's the best tablet I could get from 16-22 inches within the 500 € range in 2022? The drawing feel is most important to me. I love the feeling, grip and sound of using a pencil more than anything and want sure what would be right for me. Sorry, lots of questions. if you can just come back to me on it it's a good deal or warn me of what I'd need to deal with compared to newer versions/brands in 2022, that would be great! Thanks :)
I'm still hoping they will start rolling hout higher res for those tablets. That's the only thing that's pushing me back toward wacom for the next upgrade. I got a last year's kamvas 221 pro. And I almost returned it after first few days of use due to the lack of sharpness at this size with 1080. Colors were the other issue but i got that working via multiple color adjustment tools.
I dont think color should be a issue as people can easily buy a calibrator to fix it with very affordable price which can be use on the main monitors too. Still a great great alternative considering of spending 2-3000$ more for a similar display from wacom
Do you think the shortcut buttons are a big deal? The version without the buttons is so much more budget friendly... So I don't know if I choose a 21'' without the buttons or a 16" with the buttons...
Great video super curious of finding wacom alternatives especially since the Cintiqs have always been double the cost of my custom PC usually... Wish there was a link to the product in the description or a short description with the name for copy paste mobile ease. Since UA-cam app doesn't let you select text from the Title for some reason.
I have a Wacom 13HD and the graininess does kill me. The texture on the screen is nice, but it's not worth it for the hit to the image. I assume all Wacoms have the graininess due to the layer they put on for that paper-like feel? If so, I may try switching to a tablet.
Great review. I'm planning on buying this one. Do I need to buy the drawing software extra? It's the first pendisplay I'm buying, so I don't really know how these work. Does the graininess bother a lot while working? And is Huion on the same level as Wacom? Or is Wacom better? Bc the price range is so different between these both.
This.... If you have a color calibrator ( a colorimeter). 150$ in Amazon (colormunky, spyder, i1 Display Pro...). Without color calibrating by hardware... get the cintiq.
@@uchihajake Great purchase! That thing is in my radar... (tho not fully decided, yet). Great choice. BTW, what I meant is that it comes with some ok-ish calibration by default, but for serious work everyone should calibrate any screen (including cintiqs) for making art. But as cintiqs are quite fine, you can wait some month(/s) to get a calibrator... I'm guessing it's fine tuned to sRGB, so, kind of quite standard with many devices, today, and tends to print fine...
Brayan Rodriguez I was curious if the iPad was powerful enough that you could connect a huion or cintiq as a second monitor instead of hooking it up to a desktop or laptop. Any idea if this is the case?
@@Page157 - 22R Has a probably a wider color range than the kanvas pro 22 2019. XP-Pen 22R is around 90% Adobe RGB. That's.. .VERY wide range for an alternative. Is the strongest point of the 22R. - Huion Kanvas Pro 22 (2019) , careful to not get the pro, but the pro (2019) is LAMINATED. A lot less parallax, and having used an old cintiq, I do know the huge problem that thing is. Almost as bad as getting sth smaller than 22 inches. - Kanvas Pro 22 (2019)... I found no data on their support of Adober RGB color space. Only 120% of sRGB color space. While this is meaningless (and incorrect by itself, but is a marketing trick) , it typically means that is surely having a nice support of Adobe RGB than usual. For me, the laminated thing is very important, also as I have a semi pro monitor, but which doesn't either reach full 100% Adobe RGB. So, kind of would calibrate both similarly with my calibrator. As many online POD print companies mainly produce good results just using full sRGB screens... I'm "kind of" (not happy, tho) OK-ish with it... Meaning.. I can deal with it, even if not ideal: I'd go for the purchase, give the fact that the next step I'd go for is a 1700 $ for a refurbished Cintiq Pro 24 (NOT a 22 HD!!!, neither a Cintiq 22 latest, as both are merely sRGB, and non laminated, big parallax), as the 24 Pro yeah, that one is laminated, 99% Adobe RGB, is a thing from heavens....But is almost 2x the cost of a nice editing PC machine ! So... While is... "fine"... to get a 22R... I'm lately more inclined for Kanvas Pro 22 (2019). I'm finding there's no way to get it (and been so for a while) the 22R on Amazon. But seems now XP-PEN has sites for severalcountries. Use the site for your local country at xp-pen.com !! And buy from that xp-pen's site store. I've seen 22R is at 700 euros. And the Huion Kanvas Pro 22 (2019) at 776 euros. For me, it's worth it, the difference, for a laminated screen. Even if I like more the data I have about the color range on the 22R. While we're at it... A cintiq 22 is a color accurate screen (that I recommend to color calibrate by hardware, anyway, like with all tablets!), having only sRGB support, but the build quality and other cool things of a Wacom device are in it, even if it's eons away from a Cintiq Pro. But is 1k $... With the mentioned Huion.... maybe even the 22R... is less and less of a point... I mean... .... is 600 euros for the 22E (the 22E IS on Amazon), 700 the 22R , 770 the Kanvas pro 22( 2019) ... versus a well built, yet less featured, non laminated Cintiq non-pro 22.... for around 1k euros..... Hmmmm. Kanvas Pro 22 (2019) it is, IMO. But for classics, I still recommend the XP-PEN Deco Pro Medium and Deco 03 (130$ and 84$) over Huion alternatives. And for ALL, including the cintiq a colormunki or the like colorimeter, a hardware color calibrator. To not get crazy with the color of your illustrations once you export it for some purpose (printing, web, etc).
Great review as always! In regards to the problem with the driver: I have a Wacom Intuos Pro with the latest drivers and from time to time the pen also "disconnects", it just stops working. But, if you are on Windows, you can go to "Services" and restart the Wacom Service. Maybe it also works with Huion drivers. Give it a try. So it is not only a Huion problem, haha. And it has been happenning with diferent wacom products I have, in different computers over the last 10 years. I always thought it was a Windows problem. Anyways, cheers!
I wouldn’t say 4K just yet for these displays because that might make them really pricey. If Huion, XP Pen etc can try getting 1440p the large displays though would be really nice and hopefully wouldn’t be too much of a price bump from 1080p
Does anyone know if there's any place or way to try out pen displays before you buy them? I get why they can't exactly have them up in your average Best Buy or wherever, but I honestly think the only way to really know the differences in pressure and pens and such is probably to actually hold them in your hands and use them. Do you just have to know a person who has one or who works at a studio that has them? Or is there a secret demo room somewhere?
This is a very informed video thank you so much! I'm trying to decide if I should get the Pro 16 or if it's worth it paying extra 300 to get the pro 20
Your videos are great! Are you going to review the iPad with iPadOS? Also, can you run a cintiq hooked up to an iPad without a “computer”? Is an iPad powerful enough, especially now with the new capabilities that come with iPadOS to do that?
Hi brad! Thank you so much for your reviews! I hope you could do a review of the Huion Kamvas Pro 20 soon because I'm really leaning on getting that. Would like to know your input.
@@eldrego for a time being XP-PEN launched new 22 inch tablet called Artist 22R Pro, which I totally dig. I only need Brad to review it so it could be compared.
Hi Dad Brad, i need your help again. So huion kamvas pro 22 (2018) went on sale on our region and it so happens that I can afford it, (my budget is JUSSST enough, no more) I'm worried about the Parallax of the product. How bad is it ? Should I opt for Kamvas Pro 20 (2019 instead) thank you so much. As much as possible I wanted a bigger screen coz I noticed that I've been zooming a lot while working
Their tablets are great when they work. But if you're like me and get a bad one, forget having a good experience with customer service. They make you jump through so many hoops they hope you'll give up. I kept at it for 2 months but never got anywhere. I'll never buy something again that I can't contact someone where I live and get support or return/exchange.
So I guess on a screen this size, the matte finish will not hide the individual pixels huh? Damn shame. That's one of the things that bugs me most about my Glossy-screened Gaomon. (Also 1080p, but 16") Guess I'll be holding out on that vaporware Kamvas Pro 24 then.
As far as I know, Kamvas doesn't allow separate programming of keys on the opposite sides. The reason was to accommodate artists who don't use the opposite hand for drawing. As a user of the GT-221 Pro, I can say ten keys is a lot, assuming the middle bar works for magnification in your software. You'll probably find yourself narrowing down the number of shortcuts you want to program as you become more familiar with a software. For me I mostly program navigation, brush, and lasso commands when I just want to move around the canvas itself.
If you could offer some advice please. I currently use a cintiq 12wx and have been using the same display since 2012. My device still works as if it was fresh out if the box. However I think its time to upgrade. If at all possible could you tell me how the huion 22 pro 2019. Compares to the cintiq 12wx as that's my reference point and I have never used anything else. Thank you
It's really just gonna be the same as this except a bit smaller. Same pen same screen quality same everything except buttons for shortcuts which may vary slightly.
That's great advice! I hadn't even thought of that when I started working on this image.

Thanks!
Brad! Please read this! Completely true! There are color accuracy problems

Radcheet si you think this 2019 reaches the 100 percent you are talking about?
Aside from value for money, cheaper alternatives cannot equate what premium products can do in quality and accuracy. And it is expected. As long as they're not far off, slight shift in measurements is not a game changer for those with poverty issues. Premium tools are for those who can afford to have one.
@@simonnakauchi3905 wait, how does Huion not work with Toon Boom? I was about to order this model :(
@@GprRjo yes, i found lots of threads of people reporting strange behaviour of non Wacom tablets with Toonboom, about the drawing aspect. There is a review of the Kamvas 22 plus specifically reporting that unfortunately. Also, if you check the configuration specs of Toonboom software on their website, you’ll see that they only support Wacom tablets :/
I wish I could get this tablet to but the main software I use is Harmony..
@@GprRjo I tried asking Huion about it and they told me it should work fine with Toonboom but refused to offer me to return the product for free if I had a problem with it...
Could you make a video on color calibrating drawing tablet monitors? If you haven't already.
Bought the device this spring for my ZBrush/Maya sculpting. It has everything MOST of users need from a graphical display. Had no any problems with it so far.
And haters remind me of apple sectarians.
I'm gonna use it for ZBrush/Maya generally and that's what i was looking for :) . Thanks a lot.
The latest Windows drivers now have per-app settings, I expect the Mac will be getting them soon!
Just bought a Pro 12.9 and I purchased access to your Affinity IPad course. Thanks for all the great info you put up on the Tube.
A much better investment than all these huge pen display tablets with one complication or the other
it's so cute to watch your hand gestures reflected in the screen behind you.... @0:32 you talk quite animatedly with your hands, Brad! x
LOL, saw it
It seems nice but 1080p at that size is too low and price a bit too high when you consider it isn't that much different than other huion priducts.
Reviewers compair other tablets to Wacom simply for the reason you stated
If he ended the review with "it's good" as opposed too "it's good but it isn't Wacom" then people who are used to getting Wacom products will expect it an equivalent performance. It's easy to compair good products to terrible ones, but for consumers to determine what is worth our money we wanna know how well it stacks up to the best of the best.
im actually gonna get this tablet now for my birthday and im pretty excited, its my first display tablet
How it worked for you? Did you had any trouble?
Lol i dont have a good pc so ill have to buy the PC and the tablet at the same time paiiiinnnnn
I might be mistaken, but as far as I know the shoestrings are more related to Photoshop than the tablet.
Weird testing on a glitchy app like photoshop, that a rookie 'autopilot' mistake.
No. It's the tablet.
Das Sir ok boomer
@@kiren3168 then you you have never known PS as we do. Clip studio perform way better than PS and more stable
It also depends on the brush, some shoestring more than others
In every review of the Huion Kamvas line, A glove is apparently included, but I bought 2 of Kamvases, one for work, and one for home.. None of them had the glove.
My old Gaomon PD1560 came with two, so maybe that's where yours ended up :p
An alternative to a graphic tablet displays, are products like the Surface Studio which have a larger screen, more accurate colors, use a more advanced lamination technology getting the tip closer to the image, and doesn't suffer from the edge tracking issues like this device. These edge and accuracy issues are also a problem with Wacom and other active stylus technologies. Look for updates to the Surface Studio that will be modular - rumors are still standing that a Surface Studio Screen will be available as a tablet/display to use with existing systems instead of being an all-in-one computer.
Ahh Brad gosh I was waiting this review ! thanks a lot dude!!
Just ordered the 2019 pro 20 from amazon for only $599 cad. I’m so excited. I’ve been using an iPad Pro for 2 years but it is started to really mess up my posture to have to bend over it so low.
1:30 did he just call a VGA cable an "RGB" cable?
The new drivers allow you to set different shortcuts for different applications, however the feature is kinda hidden, you have to click on the little gear at the top right of the driver
Good to know!
Huion actually fixed the jitter, just email support and they send you a driver.
Thanks!!!! I was lurking for a video to see if ppl would avoid the slight jitter just with some slight stabilizer on in the app...Amazing to know that.
Nice drawing! Looks like you’re continuing to rock your “art homeschool” study track. 😁👏👏👏
Yup yup!
Brad Colbow Awesome! 😁👍
You can clearly see it has a different colour range than the laptop right next to it.
decentradical so it’s a con? :/
Andrea Ink The old version had very cold colors, I don't know about this though.
You can always calibrate screens though.
What do you think about this tablet now ?
So should I go for the ( XP-pen 22 R Pro) or ( Huion 22 pro 2019)? Yo tell me asap! Thanks!
i need this answer
me too
I also need this answer
same, this is the exact question i came here to find the answer for
Huion 22 pro 2019. It has better (laminated) display.
So far you have convinced me, I will try to keep details.
Always appreciate your informative reviews.
The only real difference between the 16 and 22, besides the size obviously, are the hotkeys and about 500$
Hi brad. Do the new huion kamvas pro 22 2020 version. It is released yesterday
Im ganna get this as soon as possible.......as soon as i get a laptop and or computer, awsome vid btw
Its cheap and in my possible price range :)
It is a very solid starter tablet.
what's gonna take for these alternatives to get 2k screens, c'mon
I am hoping to get this soon to add to my setup just so I can get into animation on Krita. I am going through a channel overhaul and replacing a lot, rebranding in hopes to become more professional.
How diferent is the box ?
Kamvas Pro 22(2019) vs Kamvas Pro 22
Did you find the answer yet? I'm stuck between xpen artist 22e pri or the Huion
Huion 22 Pro (2019) is better
But i would actually go for a Kamvas Pro 20 (2019), its almost the same and cheaper.
It would be great if we had a comparaison to the previous models of the kamvas pro. Huion justify the upgrade with the 120% srgb color gamut and the new full laminated screen. But is it noticeable and worth the extra money??
I'm just here for the intro and exit music =)
Only thing missing for me on these new tablets is thunderbolt support. Hate the cable clutter.
Edit: just realised the wacom tablets don't even need thunderbolt, just standard USB C
That usb C is a 400 buck premium. That's why companies like Huion are gaining popularity. In 2 years, I won't mind dropping another 600 bucks if they radically upgrade it. Wacom on the other hand, for something comparable. you're looking at 2k.
can you test with substance painter ? all of the past Huion products have problem with substance painter.
My Kamvas Pro 20 2019 works perfectly well with Painter
Sometimes lines look fine, but then you zoom in and you can notice a lot of imperfections, split lines etc, that I couldn't see because the resolution wasn't high enough :(
@@IMKatar ohh I see, that makes sense. Is there anyway you can check on a monitor? Or does it just take significantly longer?
@@silentaria3241 looking at another monitor doesn't really help when you're actually inking :( you can zoom in to check, but it makes you waste time
Have you checked the little gear icon on the drivers' setting (next to the minimize and close button?), seems like Kamvas Pro 16 (in Windows?) have the setting to change shortcuts-for-apps through this so I wonder if the Kamvas 22 2019 have it as well.
I was initially wanting to get a 16 version for my tiny desk space but this deal is making me wonder if I could get a wall mount for it (table mount isn't an option with my table type)
What's the best tablet I could get from 16-22 inches within the 500 € range in 2022?
I get mine in 2 days, it also supports my android device, I can't wait to get my hands on it
@@poppycatz it's a superb piece of kit
Bought the kamvas studio 22 and have no idea how to rotate my clip studio drawings it has a move canvas button but no quick key for rotating
Can you make a video with a list of drawing tablets with the least amount of parallax?
Because that's the one thing that really drives me crazy.
Good Information sir. Please tell me whether this tablet is ok for photo editing.
No it's not. Don't use Huion for colour sensitive work.
@@Trazynn thank you so much 🙏
if you have a good enough monitor already just buy one regular tablet without a screen it'll cost you a lot less especially if you buy huion or xp-pen
Great review. I'm planning on buying this one.
Do I need to buy the drawing software extra? It's the first pendisplay I'm buying, so I don't really know how these work. Does the graininess bother a lot while working?
And is Huion on the same level as Wacom? Or is Wacom better? Bc the price range is so different between these both.
between this and the cintiq 22, which one do you prefer?
This.... If you have a color calibrator ( a colorimeter). 150$ in Amazon (colormunky, spyder, i1 Display Pro...). Without color calibrating by hardware... get the cintiq.
@@3polygons Thanks! i actually just ordered the Cintq a few days ago, waiting for it to arrive.
@@3polygons I usually just eye ball it to what i'm expecting to come out of the printer, might look into a calibrator some day.

Could you connect this to an iPad Pro 3 iOS 13 (beta) as a secondary monitor via a pc or Mac book?
Why would you connect this to an iPad? The idea of the Mac + iPad OS is to use the iPad as pen display
Brayan Rodriguez I was curious if the iPad was powerful enough that you could connect a huion or cintiq as a second monitor instead of hooking it up to a desktop or laptop. Any idea if this is the case?
I heard that this years Kamvas Pro 20 doesn't have mirrored express keys like the last years model, is that not the case with this one?
Huion kamvas pro 22(2019) or xp-pen artist 22r pro?? 🤔

How well does the pen tilt function work? That is a major hardware upgrade. Still not ready to replace my Polychromos pencils until I see tilt work.
I showed this video to my friend and I need to know. Is this a fuzzy ant or a stinger-less bee?
which do you think its better, this one or the artist 22R from XP pen?
i need this answer
@@Page157
- 22R Has a probably a wider color range than the kanvas pro 22 2019.
Updating to latest Wacom driver has 100% fixed that in my case. In case helps anyone.
I wouldn’t say 4K just yet for these displays because that might make them really pricey. If Huion, XP Pen etc can try getting 1440p the large displays though would be really nice and hopefully wouldn’t be too much of a price bump from 1080p
could you talk about the 2019 version of the kamvas 13 too? I can't find anything online about it other than the amazon page lol
Hey you stated a person need a computer to use this. Can you explain more.. Like if i bought it and opened it i couldnt just start drawing?
i could get the 221 pro for 300bucks and the gt191 for 100... im not sure u think the 2019 version is a big upgrade to the older ones??

Hi Brad! How does this compare to the Kamvas Pro 24 (2020)? Is it worth me spending the extra 200 or so to get that one instead?
Your videos are great! Are you going to review the iPad with iPadOS? Also, can you run a cintiq hooked up to an iPad without a “computer”? Is an iPad powerful enough, especially now with the new capabilities that come with iPadOS to do that?

Their tablets are great when they work. But if you're like me and get a bad one, forget having a good experience with customer service. They make you jump through so many hoops they hope you'll give up. I kept at it for 2 months but never got anywhere. I'll never buy something again that I can't contact someone where I live and get support or return/exchange.
Which product is great tho? For under $1000
Which tablet should i buy to make animations is a small Huion tablet enough?
Wow looks really nice!!! ⚡️
So I guess on a screen this size, the matte finish will not hide the individual pixels huh?
Damn shame. That's one of the things that bugs me most about my Glossy-screened Gaomon. (Also 1080p, but 16")
Guess I'll be holding out on that vaporware Kamvas Pro 24 then.
Can hotkeys and slide bar on each side be configured differently ?
left side slide bar for zoom and right side for brush thickness ?
Thank you
Please please please review the kamvas pro 20
It's really just gonna be the same as this except a bit smaller. Same pen same screen quality same everything except buttons for shortcuts which may vary slightly.
would you pick this tablet over a cintiq 24hd from 2013? I can pick one up for $400, ..or should I get this tablet?
Why isnt there a link to the tablet! Now I gotta look it up myself >:T
Oh no, what ever will you do. Your pain must be immense. How will you survive this unbelievable struggle?
There is, it's on the list from the link in the description
Can you use this with an iphone for art on the go?
other than liking his review i can't help but think how beautiful his eyes looks
Hi Brad, when you anchor the pen tip to a single point and tilt the pen around, does the cursor stay in place?
