(Also this year we got to do TIBUA) My point in this comment is not to brag but to show how useful cadets can be if you are still quite young and want to join the army. Of course everything we do (Except Skill at arms) is at a lower standard/less detail because we're still in school/ under 18. Hey, this was a great video and gave me more detailed information. But I struggle waking up in the mornings, is there any advice you could offer that can help me with this? Thanks :)
A few tips your probably not going to like them but they do work: Go to bed earlier, if you you struggle to go to sleep early then make sure you are doing a hard training session to make yourself tired. This is probably the main point, once you get into the habit of going to bed early and waking up early it will come naturally. Set your alarm and move it away from your bed side so you have to get up to turn it off. Have someone else get you up if possible (parent, partner) There is probably few more but these work for me, the main one like I said, go to sleep early don’t play on your phone all night, get up early do some good training and by 7pm the next night you will be tired, fall asleep early and then your into the cycle.
Hello, your videos very helpful. I got date for basic. Could you please tell is there any medical like assessment centre again before starting phase 1?
Yes there is mate, you will have a medical when you get to training. Normally just make sure you are 100% fit and not been injuries between AC -and start date.
Hi Kyle I’ve done a ridiculous amount of research on the beep test and everyone absolutely everyone is saying up until stage 6 it’s a light light jog however I measured 20m with a tape measure and even At stage 2 I feel like im running. Actually running and at stage 4 I felt like I was just about sprinting. I do a 100 m in 11.2 seconds so im pretty fast so I curious what the issue is. Have I mis measured or am I genuinely doing something wrong. I have tried three bleep tests this week and got 5.1 as my best score before feeling knackered. I was thinking it might be because I’m a massive 5”4 so my strides are much smaller. I studied your bleep test and you were literally walking for the first few levels I feel stumped do you have any advice on what the issue might be and how I could up my score in general. A final question, is the beep test inside or outside because I feel a lot better inside. Sorry for the stupid question I just really need the help.
are you definitely doing the 20 meter bleep test and not the 15 meter? You may just need some practise on the turnings, it is an awkward test. ermm most of the time outside from what i have seen but it could be done in a sports hall.
@@KyleSmithFIT sorry, I might of worded it abit wrong. It feels like I’m running a lot more then 20m because when I watched yourself do it you was essentially fast walking in the first few levels but when I do it I’m jogging relatively fast. It may be because I’m small and have less of a stride or I’m just horrible with a tape measure.
@@ReganJH2 hey so iv done a beet test now when I past mine 8.6 for the army I was 15 stone now yea I found it hard bit it took me 3 months of running at a steady peace and I did interval training as well so 30 second sprint then 1 min jog back to 30 seconds sprint I would advise getting a bike or in door bike as it low impact and you can put your cardio to the max with that and still the next day feel fine to jog a bit also make sure your giving your body time to rest as rest is the most important think you progress I would do 4 day a week training then after 4 week take a week off so your body has time to catch up eat well stick at it and the goals will co e good luck iv re applied as I did leave for basic 2 year ago and going though the process now just wait for ac now good luck
Hello. I am from Northern Ireland and looking to join the British army. I am confused and looked every where for an answer but can’t find it. I know there is a current problem with applications for the commonwealth. Is Northern Ireland part of the common wealth? The reason I am confused is because obviously it is part of the uk 🇬🇧 but with the republic leaving many years ago. Is Northern Ireland illegible for applying for the British army currently. Hopefully I’m just confused and it’s a simple yes or no. Thanks :)
Yes mate I believe so, you should not have a problem with joining. I would start your application to confirm but I’m pretty sure you would be fine if you live in Northern Ireland 👍🏻
Thank you for this video, it is very helpful. I have applied to join as a qualified nurse (soldier route), which requires 14 weeks basic training. I’m I going to be required to do the same basic training with those joining as combats or I will be moved to else where after the first 7 weeks?
Firstly sorry for the late reply. Yes you will do the first 14 weeks the same as every other soldier (basic training), i believe after this you will as a nurse you normally go to university however, you are already qualified so i can imagine you will go to your unit or to a phase two training establishment where you will do further nurse training which will allow you to understand out to conduct yourself as a military nurse.
I been wanting to join for ages now but my confidence and being shy has stopped me have you got any advice to help me overcome this. this is somthing i really want to go forward with for a long time. Love the videos btw
Honestly you just have to put yourself in uncomfortable situations and start being social with stranger, just ease yourself into it and your confidence will grow
I dont know if this helps but I’m quite and introverted shy person and like to keep to myself however since starting basic i found myself just naturally a bit more bold you just get put in the position of having to adapt to it so i would worry too much
What were the standards like for the amount of push ups you have to be able to do, and then sorta exercises and how would you get better at them? Im looking to join the army at 18 (currently 15) and i want to know the best way to start my training now to gain general fitness, so far im doing 5 mile walks, which ill progress into jogs then runs etc, im also doing duke of Edinburgh awards, how should i train so that when i turn 18, im prepared for fitness tests, because thats the one thing i lack confidence in, because i struggle to do push ups and its the only thing that worry me
From my experience just coming out of basic training , as long as you make the effort and show the ptis that you want to be there they don’t really care , but as far as fitness and runs I would start on a 2k and then progress through that so you are ready for your tests and go on to things like weighted marches so you get a feel for what it’s like
Hi mate, my name is Charley, and I just want to say that I’m 16 years old about to leave school soon, after my GCSE’s, and want to know if it’s normal if I’m a bit nervous and scared about joking the army as an infantry soldier. Also, if you know where I would be based, considering I live in Newcastle, and if it would be better to join when 18 or when I leave school?
its being 2 month so ya may have this info by now but being 16, if you apply now you may make it for the march 2024 or September 2024 AFC Harrogate intakes where u go for 49 weeks for infantry.
Hi after your army training what happens next ? I want to join the army as a driver do you still have to do the training , because they are many roles In the army so am just a little confused? Cheers
From what I know you will start your phase 2/3 training. 15 weeks at the Defence School of Transport followed by another 25 day course getting your licenses. That’s an RLC driver anyway
On the British army website if you scroll down on job descriptions there is the age range. You will be able to join the army at 27 you can join to be a driver if you're between 16 and 35 years old.
Hi guys I want to join military school As I turn 17 next year and since a young age I’ve loved anything to do with the world wars and I love history I’ve played many cod games and as I’ve got older decided I want to join the army but I’m a little nervous from being away from home for that long even though I know I will be fine in the fields at night as I do fishing and camping quite often any tips on how I can get abit more confident on joining thanks
To be honest mate there is not a lot you can do to gain more confident in something expect from doing it. Think of it like this, everyone there is going through the same thing. So your away from home for a while it’s not a big deal, your family and friends will still be there and will be proud of what you are doing. This is one of the main reasons people struggle with basic training but in reality it’s the best thing for someone of your ages, it teaches you independence and discipline. You will thank yourself for joining later 👊🏻
Yes you can, you will be allowed your phones for a certain period of time throughout the day. As your training gets closer to the end you will find you have more time to call etc..
Training up young men in a British Army in case World War 3 does come is justified name are trained up they must take responsibility for what they do with their weapons i.e guns elc I do not believe that the British Army should be sending any of their soldiers to Northern Ireland under any circumstances as it is clearly a neutral country each British soldier must justify what they do before they do it in spite of fighting for King and Country I hope that England will take a different approach now under King Childs in Northern Ireland... Please respect Ireland...

Do you do running and stuff on first week? Im starting Phase 1 at Pirbright on the 22nd
@wrathvow no think we met our PTI Friday week 1. Then we did pt week 2 bleep tests, etc but nothing too hard till the later weeks
@@JakeBWFC how often do you guys do runnings/tabbings, heard it was like almost 4 times a week or so?
Through the whole of the basic training are you learning hand to hand combat
I heard that you have to stay still until your family comes to you. Im an orphan so how does that work? No family or friends
Hey, this was a great video and gave me more detailed information. But I struggle waking up in the mornings, is there any advice you could offer that can help me with this? Thanks :)
A few tips your probably not going to like them but they do work:
Go to bed earlier, if you you struggle to go to sleep early then make sure you are doing a hard training session to make yourself tired. This is probably the main point, once you get into the habit of going to bed early and waking up early it will come naturally.
Set your alarm and move it away from your bed side so you have to get up to turn it off.
Have someone else get you up if possible (parent, partner)
There is probably few more but these work for me, the main one like I said, go to sleep early don’t play on your phone all night, get up early do some good training and by 7pm the next night you will be tired, fall asleep early and then your into the cycle.
@@KyleSmithFIT thank you!
im still in the joining process training for the bleep test
for me they showed how to strip and assemble the fire arms while i was waiting for my rgmd
Able to do one for sandhurst pal if you know whats going on?
Much more video would be good.
Hello, your videos very helpful. I got date for basic. Could you please tell is there any medical like assessment centre again before starting phase 1?
Yes there is mate, you will have a medical when you get to training. Normally just make sure you are 100% fit and not been injuries between AC -and start date.
@@KyleSmithFIT Thank you.
Is it still the same now or has it changed ?
Also sorry for the 1,000,000 questions but how long do you think it would take to get to a good score thank you
@@ReganJH2 hey so iv done a beet test now when I past mine 8.6 for the army I was 15 stone now yea I found it hard bit it took me 3 months of running at a steady peace and I did interval training as well so 30 second sprint then 1 min jog back to 30 seconds sprint I would advise getting a bike or in door bike as it low impact and you can put your cardio to the max with that and still the next day feel fine to jog a bit also make sure your giving your body time to rest as rest is the most important think you progress I would do 4 day a week training then after 4 week take a week off so your body has time to catch up eat well stick at it and the goals will co e good luck iv re applied as I did leave for basic 2 year ago and going though the process now just wait for ac now good luck

Wk 1 what the hell I'm I doing here !

What’s the fitness test in week 1 basic training ?
Thanks for the video mate..✌
Jst a quick a question.
Is it possible to transfer from the army to the RAF??
Thanks mate, sorry late reply.
Yes it is possible however, it could take a long time. 6 months - 1 year.
Mine says 26weeks? Is that phase1 and 2 got my briefing Monday coming
The problem with my application is that I DON'T HAVE ANYBODY OR PLACE FOR Accomodations during my basic training
Which country do u reside
Cheers dits 👌🏻
Hi, just wondering can you take kinesiology tape with you to basic training to use on your legs etc ?
Erm I don’t see why not mate.
Hooray, first to comment
Thanks mate, always here and commenting. Appreciate it 👊
Ok thanks for the help👍👍
I live in Northern Ireland and I had no problems with an application you’ll be grand!

@@dilloncairns4174 where abouts are you from mate?
Question what if you go away on your weekend home and gain a bit of pudding does it effect you in training at all?
Hi good morning, I'm a psychiatric nurse professional but a university student at the moment and want to join the army, any advise for me?
i’m thinking about joining REME as a aviation technician is it worth it?
I been wanting to join for ages now but my confidence and being shy has stopped me have you got any advice to help me overcome this. this is somthing i really want to go forward with for a long time. Love the videos btw
Honestly you just have to put yourself in uncomfortable situations and start being social with stranger, just ease yourself into it and your confidence will grow
@@authezos4025 thank you foe the advice mate
There’s a saying, “get comfortable, being uncomfortable” try to live by that you will achieve whatever you want 👍
Im looking to join the army at 18 (currently 15) and i want to know the best way to start my training now to gain general fitness, so far im doing 5 mile walks, which ill progress into jogs then runs etc, im also doing duke of Edinburgh awards, how should i train so that when i turn 18, im prepared for fitness tests, because thats the one thing i lack confidence in, because i struggle to do push ups and its the only thing that worry me
From my experience just coming out of basic training , as long as you make the effort and show the ptis that you want to be there they don’t really care , but as far as fitness and runs I would start on a 2k and then progress through that so you are ready for your tests and go on to things like weighted marches so you get a feel for what it’s like
Nothing to worry about though
@@d_an.x8893 ah thank you, im definitely starting yo get my fitness up now and im starting to worry less, thank your for clearing that up though
@@nvi1230hiya pal. How’s it going? We share the same goal I’m 17 looking to join at 18.

I want to join the army as a driver do you still have to do the training , because they are many roles
In the army so am just a little confused? Cheers
From what I know you will start your phase 2/3 training.
15 weeks at the Defence School of Transport followed by another 25 day course getting your licenses.
That’s an RLC driver anyway
@@ethanhart3073 thanks how long does the training take ? Am 27 can I still join ?
@@DJ-JAY-Q the basic is 14 weeks. All other training for the role is on my first comment.
Edit: the last stage takes 12-18 months
On the British army website if you scroll down on job descriptions there is the age range. You will be able to join the army at 27 you can join to be a driver if you're between 16 and 35 years old.
@@TamzinSpencer sorry overlooked you last message. Yeah 27 is a fine age for I think every role so you should be good

Hi guys I want to join military school
As I turn 17 next year and since a young age I’ve loved anything to do with the world wars and I love history I’ve played many cod games and as I’ve got older decided I want to join the army but I’m a little nervous from being away from home for that long even though I know I will be fine in the fields at night as I do fishing and camping quite often any tips on how I can get abit more confident on joining thanks
Hi mate I got my training coming up I just want to know if u get your weekends off
Erm no not straight away, the first few weeks of training are very busy, you will later on in your training though.
I want to do it but what if you fail the tests do they stop you from being a soldier? I’m scared I might fail the first time
No mate, you just give it another go. Prepare correct and you will not fail .
Don’t be scare, you got this 👊🏻
@@KyleSmithFIT thanks mate
Can you communicate with family/friends during basic training, If so in what way
Yes you can, you will be allowed your phones for a certain period of time throughout the day. As your training gets closer to the end you will find you have more time to call etc..
@@KyleSmithFIT Thank you for answering my question good sir
Got a question with the assessment center what happenes if i pass every test accept from the running is it a fail?
Get sent away and you can come back to retry after a month or sometimes long depending on close you were to passing
When are the joining date for the army?
They vary through out the year mate.
Hey I have a question that may be stupid but dose every role in the army have the same training?
The same basic training, yes. Your first 14 weeks are the same no matter what Role, then you go to your trade specific training.

It is crazy to think we are rushing Ukrainian civvies through this in 5 weeks. Then send them out to war.
What choice do they have? Ukraine can't slip up even with the weaponry NATO and the UN has given.

Do yourselves a favour and don't join the Army, certainly not the infantry. Get yourself into the Merchant Navy at 18, if possible combine with Offshore Wind Industry. Army is for mugs, I should know, I wasted a good few years of my life in it.
