Since I was young it was common to see lots of abandoned pets since the war in 1999 around serbia. It is amazing and heartwarming to see people reclaiming and helping these beautiful creatures of ours. If you get the chance you should check out the wild horses near my town kraljebo, they are horses set free after being war horses along time ago
Ah, that makes sense that its happened after the war 😢 It's a common sight across Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria too. It's really amazing to see the work that Vucjak shelter are doing though, gives us faith in humanity! Oh we've left that region now, but would have LOVED to see the wild horses! 😍
Oh, Serbia is incredible! Really want to come back in the summer and make the most of everything here. Dejan and the shelter are incredible, such selflessness. They deserve the world 💛

@@OverlandingSophia just to the hot spring at Köyceğiz for a couple of nights and locally overlooking the sea near here, a magical spot last week. She broke down and we had engine rebuilt, then several times where we lost all power….Picked her up from garage today and all seems well 🙏🏻🤞Longing to go off but have lots to do at home as many jobs were put off during the build! We are driving to Italy for a family gathering at end of May and will take our time wending our way home……Weather has finally warmed up and now blossom, wild flowers and blue skies abound! ❤️

Sending so much love! 💞 We reallyyyyy didn’t want to leave Rosie at a shelter, you can probably see where I get it from now 😂 We’ve had about 7 cats growing up - all rescues. Same with dogs and don’t count all the birds we’ve nursed back to health. My nans the same so I stand no chance 😂 xxx

That was an awesome beaver. That’s the beauty of stopping in these quiet secluded spots. No one to disturb your beaver photography. And the occasional bush as well if the beavers are shy. Just look out for snakes though.

I've had several rescue dogs from Eastern Europe (mainly Romania). I've got two at the moment. They have all been amazing characters, intelligent, loyal and loving. What you are doing is fantastic. You can't rescue every dog that is in need, but you have shown the way and made an amazing individual impact. I hope this encourages others to ADOPT, DON'T BUY. Thank you for the entertainment and interest you provide. Thank you for your character, kindness and attitude.

My goodness! Rollercoaster of emotions in this week's video! I hope the shelter benefits well with the many donations from your loyal followers. Amazing to see a Beaver! When our boys were in their teens they were all tall and we often shopped at a well known budget range Gents Outfitters. One time I saw a T shirt in the sale with the logo, "Save a tree, eat beaver", bought the T shirt. Each boy wore it in turn as the other grew out of it (summers only Scotland). Only recently did I find out what that logo actually alluded to . . . the boys, who are now 27, 30 & 33, seem unharmed by their parent's naivety 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We are having a really bad time of it lately. Our van is at the garage and it’s not looking good. Stumbled across your videos today and you are bringing back happy memories for us. Anyway, thank you for saving another dog. We have 5 in our van now from travelling through the balkans! 😅We bought a plot of land and a house in Bulgaria last month. We had to drive back to the UK to tie up some loose ends but we will be returning next spring to renovate the place into a dog shelter. I’ve rescued several dogs in the uk but I don’t have the balls to go travelling through other countries because I would just get too emotional over the stray dogs. You're a couple of softies, the best kind of persons. The world needs a lot more people like you two; and the guy running the shelter. Not a dry eye in the kennel. Do you guys know what a front wheel dig is. I can't remember if you have 4 wheel drive. If you have, hand brake full on, full lock, and let the front wheels drag you front around sideways!! Great for tight turns on gravel. We'll be in that area in two weeks time, cruising the Blue(brown) Danube. Top class episode, as usual.

Wow, you just keep finding these amazing places as you journey onward. That fortress looks like something out of Game of Thrones. I know you'd probably like the space in a bigger vehicle like a bus but then that limits the roads you can go on. I like when you can travel off the beaten track. I love that new Bulgarian ambulance that Josh and Charlie got...Spud(love that name). Serbia is really blowing us away. So much natural beauty and history, we love it here. At least those dogs in the shelter now have food and medical care and somewhere safe to sleep. The guys there are incredible 💛

There are many places to visit in Serbia if you know what you are looking for, it's not extremely touristy so inform yourself well before visit. In eastern Serbia, Stara planina is absolutely amazing, wild nature, mountain rivers, waterfalls...there are also large lavender and immortelle fields which are worth a visit in summer, Rtanj mountain also in the east, bunch of spa towns as you travel toward central Serbia. The western Serbia is perhaps the most touristy, has gorgeous mountains like Tara, Zlatar, Zlatibor and the Drina river. If you plan a visit I'd recommend late spring or early summer, it's very green and beautiful, late in the summer can be pretty hot.

We only have two weeks left here so will be doing the west and then heading north towards Belgrade/Novi Sad. We would love to come here in the summer, it's already beautiful in the spring so can't imagine how it must look with all the trees in leaf 💚

Thank you for another outstanding vlog. Rooibos (Red bush) is an indigenous South African tea which grows mainly in the Cedarburg ànd Western Cape. It has many health benefits. Traditionally it was kept boiling for a while before drinking.

hahaha, you guys are like us. we moved to crete 18months ago and in that time we have adopted a german shepherd (whos the sweetest girl) then found a little lab cross down the beach with a broken leg (skinny and shivering) who we took to the vets to see if he was chipped which he wasnt and he got on so well with the gsd we kept him. then we found a little puppy and took him in too (hes not so little now lol). we wouldnt change them for the world lol. good on you

He’s going back to U.K. empty so I’ve messaged the shelter to see if they have any pets that need a lift back 🤞 hate to waste the space…maybe your Rosie??? Ah Helen this is AMAZING to hear. I know they sometimes tstruggle to get pets back to the UK because they aren't in the EU. I'm sure they'll appreciate that, you're wonderful for thinking of them. Unfortunately it will be too soon for Rosie, she still needs her rabies blood tests etc which takes about 3 months. And yes! Wasn't Johnny SO gorgeous! He was unbelievably huge, the camera couldn't capture it. He was up to my thighs just sitting down! 😂 xx

This reminds me of my Uncle and Aunt who had a small farm. Every stray dog they kept. They had two big pens one for the girls and one for the boys. It was a lot of work for them, but they just could not say no to them. Fun Show.

Once your wanderlust is over, and it comes time to settle down, opening an animal sanctuary may well be your forte in life. I’d imagine it to be quite a commitment but mixing it with a bit of land in Europe, staycations for travelling animal owners etc, could be just up your street. You could even host some nice beavers.
You're not the first one to suggest that Jack 😆 Maybe one day, you never know! I think if we did ever settle down, something of that sort would materialise organically anyway, we've already filled the van up!

Since I was young it was common to see lots of abandoned pets since the war in 1999 around serbia. It is amazing and heartwarming to see people reclaiming and helping these beautiful creatures of ours. If you get the chance you should check out the wild horses near my town kraljebo, they are horses set free after being war horses along time ago
Ah, that makes sense that its happened after the war 😢 It's a common sight across Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria too. It's really amazing to see the work that Vucjak shelter are doing though, gives us faith in humanity! Oh we've left that region now, but would have LOVED to see the wild horses! 😍

@@OverlandingSophia just to the hot spring at Köyceğiz for a couple of nights and locally overlooking the sea near here, a magical spot last week. She broke down and we had engine rebuilt, then several times where we lost all power….Picked her up from garage today and all seems well 🙏🏻🤞Longing to go off but have lots to do at home as many jobs were put off during the build! We are driving to Italy for a family gathering at end of May and will take our time wending our way home……Weather has finally warmed up and now blossom, wild flowers and blue skies abound! ❤️

That was an awesome beaver. That’s the beauty of stopping in these quiet secluded spots. No one to disturb your beaver photography. And the occasional bush as well if the beavers are shy. Just look out for snakes though.

I've had several rescue dogs from Eastern Europe (mainly Romania). I've got two at the moment. They have all been amazing characters, intelligent, loyal and loving. What you are doing is fantastic. You can't rescue every dog that is in need, but you have shown the way and made an amazing individual impact. I hope this encourages others to ADOPT, DON'T BUY.

When our boys were in their teens they were all tall and we often shopped at a well known budget range Gents Outfitters.
One time I saw a T shirt in the sale with the logo, "Save a tree, eat beaver", bought the T shirt.
Each boy wore it in turn as the other grew out of it (summers only Scotland).
Only recently did I find out what that logo actually alluded to . . . the boys, who are now 27, 30 & 33, seem unharmed by their parent's naivety 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We are having a really bad time of it lately. Our van is at the garage and it’s not looking good. Stumbled across your videos today and you are bringing back happy memories for us. Anyway, thank you for saving another dog. We have 5 in our van now from travelling through the balkans! 😅We bought a plot of land and a house in Bulgaria last month. We had to drive back to the UK to tie up some loose ends but we will be returning next spring to renovate the place into a dog shelter. I’ve rescued several dogs in the uk but I don’t have the balls to go travelling through other countries because I would just get too emotional over the stray dogs. You're a couple of softies, the best kind of persons. The world needs a lot more people like you two; and the guy running the shelter. Not a dry eye in the kennel. Do you guys know what a front wheel dig is. I can't remember if you have 4 wheel drive. If you have, hand brake full on, full lock, and let the front wheels drag you front around sideways!! Great for tight turns on gravel. We'll be in that area in two weeks time, cruising the Blue(brown) Danube. Top class episode, as usual.

Wow, you just keep finding these amazing places as you journey onward. That fortress looks like something out of Game of Thrones. I know you'd probably like the space in a bigger vehicle like a bus but then that limits the roads you can go on. I like when you can travel off the beaten track. Ah yes we were! We need to come back to Serbia in the summer, there is so much more we want to see 💛
There are many places to visit in Serbia if you know what you are looking for, it's not extremely touristy so inform yourself well before visit. In eastern Serbia, Stara planina is absolutely amazing, wild nature, mountain rivers, waterfalls...there are also large lavender and immortelle fields which are worth a visit in summer, Rtanj mountain also in the east, bunch of spa towns as you travel toward central Serbia. The western Serbia is perhaps the most touristy, has gorgeous mountains like Tara, Zlatar, Zlatibor and the Drina river. If you plan a visit I'd recommend late spring or early summer, it's very green and beautiful, late in the summer can be pretty hot.
Thank you so much for all the recommendations 💛 We drove past Rtanj mountain and really wanted to climb it, but the day we were there the weather was too bad. We only have two weeks left here so will be doing the west and then heading north towards Belgrade/Novi Sad. We would love to come here in the summer, it's already beautiful in the spring so can't imagine how it must look with all the trees in leaf 💚

Thank you for another outstanding vlog. Rooibos (Red bush) is an indigenous South African tea which grows mainly in the Cedarburg ànd Western Cape. It has many health benefits. Traditionally it was kept boiling for a while before drinking.

Thanks so much Pat, we love ya! We find it very difficult to walk away, but sometimes you have to. With Rosie, we're just so grateful my mum could take her, and that the shelter helped. Couldn't have done it without them! Thank you so much for donating, it will mean the world to them 💛
hahaha, you guys are like us. we moved to crete 18months ago and in that time we have adopted a german shepherd (whos the sweetest girl) then found a little lab cross down the beach with a broken leg (skinny and shivering) who we took to the vets to see if he was chipped which he wasnt and he got on so well with the gsd we kept him. then we found a little puppy and took him in too (hes not so little now lol). we wouldnt change them for the world lol. good on you

Soooo…..we’re moving to Bulgaria next month and using a pet transporter to bring our cats and dogs. He’s going back to U.K. empty so I’ve messaged the shelter to see if they have any pets that need a lift back 🤞 hate to waste the space…maybe your Rosie??? And OMG I could totally take that beautiful Johnny home😍😍
Ah Helen this is AMAZING to hear. I know they sometimes tstruggle to get pets back to the UK because they aren't in the EU. I'm sure they'll appreciate that, you're wonderful for thinking of them. Unfortunately it will be too soon for Rosie, she still needs her rabies blood tests etc which takes about 3 months. And yes! Wasn't Johnny SO gorgeous! He was unbelievably huge, the camera couldn't capture it. He was up to my thighs just sitting down! 😂 xx

You'd love it here 💛
This reminds me of my Uncle and Aunt who had a small farm. Every stray dog they kept. They had two big pens one for the girls and one for the boys. It was a lot of work for them, but they just could not say no to them. Fun Show.

Once your wanderlust is over, and it comes time to settle down, opening an animal sanctuary may well be your forte in life. I’d imagine it to be quite a commitment but mixing it with a bit of land in Europe, staycations for travelling animal owners etc, could be just up your street. You could even host some nice beavers.
You're not the first one to suggest that Jack 😆 Maybe one day, you never know! I think if we did ever settle down, something of that sort would materialise organically anyway, we've already filled the van up!

Thanks Arjen! Will keep you updated on her journey and new home 💛 Yes Scout is still on a long lead when we're walking somewhere! We've had him off-lead a couple of times and he has disappeared chasing a smell (or freedom 😂 ). He will come back, but not reliably. He gets so excited!

We would love to go where there are no stray animals, our hearts can't take much more! 💔 We're so grateful to the shelter for helping us, we couldn't have saved her without them xx
