I matched my vr settings from 2020 to 2024 and i get worse performance in 2024. I usually get a solid 45fps in 2020 and in 2024 its always dipping between 30 and 40.
After watching this video I tried it with the quest3 on medium with a 3080; WOW! In a few days time I will receive a new system with a 9800X3d and a 4090, can't wait! Great content, subbed!
One thing is with the Quest3... And a completely different is trying to achieve the original DLSS/DLAA performance we had in 2020. For us high end pcvr headset owners this 2024 is giving us a real pain. Asobo should approach a DirectX 12 fix first. We also need urgently an autofps tool ASAP for 2024. Dlss tweaks, another thing that I've found... Changing the values are not applying in the sim. I also see more ghosting than before (2020).
Hi, greetings from the UK. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and GEForce RTX 4080 Super graphics card with 16GB of graphics RAM plus 32 GB of PC RAM. That set up is as smooth as silk on MSFS 2020 but is unflyable on MSFS 2024 due to low frame rate and stutters. I've tried adjusting everything in the VR menus right down to minimum and it's still awful (enough to make you feel sick). There is something fundamentally wrong at the moment. I'm back on MSFS 2020 until the problem is fixed.
@@willbennett1359 Hello Will, my experience with MSFS 2024 graphics has improved all by itself recently but is still nothing like as good as MSFS 2020 on the same flights. Yesterday I uploaded the latest NVidia driver (I had been using 551.86) but to be honest didn't notice any improvement. However, it might pay off later. Maybe that would help you as well.
min 7:46 changing the flat screens settings there not the VR settings. the game probably defaults to medium or low vr settings. Also its a different story running VR in London or NYC vs the country side
I hope I can get my latency down...I've been trying a lot of things but nothing seems to be working. I reinstalled Windows yesterday, reinstalling the sim today (as recommended by Microsoft, since they switched CDN's). I'm curious to see if that helps.
It’s nice to see that you’re getting such good results with the 4080 laptop. I have the 4070 laptop, but my Quest 3 always crashes when I set the graphics to medium with DLSS. I think it’s because the router is very far from my workspace, and I would like to use the Quest with a cable. But I can’t use Virtual Desktop with a cable, can I?
Glad to see this video since there is so few people flying MSFS VR with a laptop. By seeing your 4080 GPU wth a medium quality by VD, I suddenly realize it is not my problem that my laptop always crashed when choosing High/Ultra quallity (mine is 4060). Maybe the best can be done is medium by a laptop which has 4080/4060.... thanks
I'm currently enjoying the graphics in VR but I'm seeing a black outline around the planes in VR, would you know what in the settings causes this? (I'm using a pico4 streaming wirelessly on virtual desktop using an RTX 4070ti)
Oh man I need a capable machine… but the smoothness of the Vr when in low settings is sooo good, I wish we would get the graphics fidelity of ultra with that smoothness. What are your pc specs? I’m using ultra in in virtual studio. Godlike gave me a bit of problems.
Are you using DLSS inside Microsoft vr settings? I watched your previous video in tweaking NVIDIA settings. Helped TREMENDOUSLY! My only complaint now is that when using DLSS in a glass cockpit, i can't read the numbers in the airspeed...too blurry. Any ideas/suggestions?
I'm happy to hear that the Nvidia settings helped. Yes, I do use DLSS, and for the most part, I have it on Quality. If you're using MSFS2020, reading the guages in VR has been a big pain for many. If you're in MSFS2024, I haven't noticed that problem. Regardless of which version you are using, make sure to watch my DLSS video here: ua-cam.com/video/4S0vC8B5plY/v-deo.htmlsi=QWzjUjCVcaaaZ-X0 ...as Microsoft has a tendency of reverting to older versions of DLSS with every update and there was one today for MSFS2024.
Niether does FS&DN, look it's 5 Ghz 1200 Mbps, with 6e you should have 6 Ghz 2400 Mbps. To be honest I think it's ok with 5 Ghz, however if I was FS&DN I would probably put the Bitrate down to 120. I use 6e though so it doesn't matter for me.
Thanks for the video. By the way. I need to figure all that out. I'm a Quest2 user. Still, I'm having a wonderful experience in FS24, particularly, in the hot air balloons.
Wow these settings are crazy - 120 target frame rate in Ultra setting in MSFS 2024! I didn't know a RTX mobile 4080 was so powerful - NOT! I definately wouldn't be pushing the system as hard as you. Rather than hitting 15-25 fps, I would try and aim for a stable 40-45 fps and let SSW get you up to 80 fps or 90 fps or whatever you've set as a target fps for the headset in Virtual Desktop. Personally I would use DLSS Quality or Balanced in MSFS and make sure you set the render target in MSFS to 40 or 45 if your targetting 80 fps or 90 fps in the headset. Just my 2 cent.
Perhaps you are correct. I'm open to giving that a try. I am comparing performance and quality that others are receiving with less powerful systems than I have. I'm curious how they are getting a really smooth experience and excellent quality. I don't want to settle with mediocre quality. If that was the case, I wouldn't have bothered upgrading to this version.
I'm new to VR. I've only tried it in MSFS 2024 and I haven't been able to tune it enough to convince me to stay in VR yet. Q3 on Medium with VD and game on LOW or Medium. It looks bad and isn't smooth. Quite disappointing for a VR newbie. GPU RTX 4070, RAM 48Gb DDR4 CPU Ryzen 7 5700X
You have VD on medium? If so, you should try increasing it to high, but if you're getting stutters at medium, it could be something else. What kind of internet do you have? Is your headset wired or air link?
@@cactus22minus1 Yes DLSS helped and it runs smoothly with the Quality setting. However, I don't know if I'm ready for the visual degradation against 2D. Visually, the environment in VR feels like I need glasses (litle blurry landscape and trees), but even with TAA

In VR, I am having the same thoughts. I get great performance in 2D but VR is temperamental.

Yes, I agree. They've got a ways to go before this can be the primary sim.
Exactly the same here, I've got 14900k, 4080 super, and it's a slideshow, I am used to
80 fps in fs2020 so anything like 30 or 40 fps feels awful.
Agreed

jealous. iam still on a 2070 Super but VR works well with old MSFS. But in MSFS 24 its impossible to fly VR due DX12 .
