in VR <90 fps fells very unnatural

Here are my System Specs: 13th Gen Intel Core i9 13900H 2.60GHz 64 GB RAM Nvidia RTX 4080 Laptop GPU with 32GB RAM DDR6 Meta Quest 3 1G Internet Yes, I have the latest update and no, I was not using SSW. The reason why I'm not using it, is because after running lots of tests, I don't believe it makes any real difference. Sure, the FPS may double, but to me it seems more like a placebo effect. We see double the FPS but from what I noticed, it degrades the image and performance feels exactly the same to me.

@@flightsimdronenexus 4080 laptop is basically 4060 desctop - its a resons why it so slow.

@@sguploads9601 Sure, I understand but another PC I have that's a desktop with a much older CPU and RTX 2070 is performing about as well as my laptop with a much better CPU and graphics card, so I'm not really sure why this is happening. The last few days the latency on my laptop has increased to the point where VR is unplayable 400ms.

You can definitely use DLSS Swapper on 2020 but I'm not sure if they have updated the DLSS.

You will definitely get great performance with a 4090, especially if it's a Desktop version.

@@PCVRandQuest just in case because that also happened to me. when i checked the log for the dlss swapper it said that the app was in use so it couldnt replace the dlss file (even though i had closed MSFS2024). a reboot did the work for me and i was able to replace the file with dlss swapper

@AndyistGD so I got an error saying no dlss to update? I then tried swapping with one slightly newer than what was on thr game, it worked 💪 i then had to work my way up the list, installing versions until I got to the latest

I hope I can get my latency down...I've been trying a lot of things but nothing seems to be working. I reinstalled Windows yesterday, reinstalling the sim today (as recommended by Microsoft, since they switched CDN's). I'm curious to see if that helps.

No...Virtual Desktop is Wireless. you basically connect your PC to your internet router via a cable, and then Virtual Desktop will communicate from your headset to the pc to gather the game data. It works surprisingly well.

Yes, I think the key is the latency. I'm using a very fast internet connection and I'm not sure if there's a way to get that lower.

@@flightsimdronenexus I can get it very low by lowering DLSS settings, but even setting to Quality or Auto takes hit visually from DLAA. even lowering the ingame graphics to low didn't really improve it.. but change DLSS to performance or even balanced and it drops to under 10ms with an overall latency for 60ish @60-72fps. but it looks to rough for my liking.

@walley2637 Yeah, I'm with you on the quality not being good enough to fly at low DLSS settings. Do you use Virtual Desktop?

Going from quest 2 to the new one is an obvious bump in visual clarity....or take that 500 bucks and upgrade the GPU...on a 4080s and 5800x3d.. settings on high. Quest 2 VD ultra..over LA I'm solid 45 fps. Fs2024 has aids

Yes, I agree 😊 I normally fly in VR which feels more natural than in 2D mode. This was my first time trying 2D in months.

I love the way everything looks in this new version. The lighting is amazing and the way aircrafts interact with the wind and ground is a huge improvement in my opinion from 2020. There are still a lot of bugs but they've put out a few updates already and slowly getting better. I flew in 2020 the other day & honestly, I couldn't complete the flight...it just felt basic to me. If someone is on it right now, I would say, if they are happy with it, then just stay with it but I personally love the new version, even though at times it frustrates me.

Thanks, yes it is recommended but I've been trying some of the other codecs and honestly can't tell the difference.

You will see as soon as you get into virtual desktop. It'll show a virtual screen of your desktop, and then you run MSFS from there and just click on control tab, and it'll open it right up, but make sure that in the initial settings, you choose VDXR instead of SteamVR.

I'm on a laptop also. i9 14th Gen 32 RAM Rtx 4080. I just upgraded my Router to TPLink BE3600 (low-mid priced) and added around 12FPS more. I think the Quest 2or3 Space Warp is really the key to doubling FPS. Thanks a heap for leading the way. I'll stick to these settings now. Time to skim the waves. Cheers!!!🍻🍻🍻

In VR, I am having the same thoughts. I get great performance in 2D but VR is temperamental.

I'm not really sure, I would need to see your settings, but it's possible your Antialiaaing is set too low...meaning Performance vs. Quality?

It feels fine in VR, because ASW, so you feel and see the double amount in your headset. It works really good with Flight Sims, less with Racing Sims.
