That’s very cool. I wouldn’t have the patience. I always grab the plaster out for mountains and rocks, but I’ve definitely done cobblestone work in styrofoam. I actually use a small artist spatula and a wire brush for detailing
I do all my rock/cliffs with foam and knife only and come out looking great. Takes more time than using molds but I find the payoff reward is much better. Also using a ball pointed pen for detailing cobble stone or other stonework into rock faces works VERY well.

Invest in a filter mask with replacement filters .
There a little costly but they have a multitude of areas of use .
Fabri-tac literally melted my foam and made large holes! Never again!
That was likely the propellant, or solvent in the glue itself.
Be nice to see the end result of all that.

Sanding XPS foam is really bad news for your lungs.
Do so in a well ventilated area. I sand down foam all the time for years now and no issues. Same with spray painting.
