As for my opinion, I'm a hardcore sniper and I easily noticed the difference, especially on high RoF snipers. My main was a Hieracon LR5 with unflinching for a while and there was a significant change between one with unflinching and one without. I could basically challenge anything with unfliching, whereas the one without it meant I'd die more while sniping under fire. It's worth noting that I never use unflinching with any other scope but Shortgaze because I've foudn it less efficient on Ambush.
That aside, I don't think unflinching is that big of a deal anymore. Back in the days of auto rifles, being able to shoot multiple targets simultaneously while under sustained fire was a huge plus and it made the perk very worthwhile. However, with the single shot weapons taking over and a shift in Crucible's preference towards smaller modes, it's less desirable now. Most people will want to look for a high aim assist and high impact sniper. If you miss or are taking fire, you're probably not going to be able to follow up with a quick body shot anyway.
As for what I use now, I've switched to the Calcutta LR2 which has no perks and I think it's the best sniper in the game :)
Hmm i have 2 LDR's one with unflinching and one without and I love them both the same. I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole placebo thing
I personally am getting sick of unflinching. I just feel like it does nothing to help me. I rather not have it and just use the big flinches as a sign to disengage or reset. Thanks for the video; it at least lets me know it does do something and that I was ranting lies to myself.
