Metrics for helping visitors come back to church? Thoughts?

Some people say that all I need is anecdotal stories from visitors at my church to give me a feel for what’s going on. But the nuance here is the limit of being able to hear every person’s story. So you don’t just need the stories, you need both. It’s not one or the other, stories tell you what is actually happening, and numbers confirm how widespread that experience is.
