From hot, gutsy rock and blues tones to mellow, delicate jazz textures: The Harley Benton SC-550 II is an amazingly versatile guitar that feels at home in almost any genre. It’s packed with features that build on a classic shape introduced in the 1950s, updated to make the SC-550 II superbly playable for players in the 2020s. Check out the weight-relieved mahogany body and sumptuous AAAA flamed maple arched top with its beautiful Paradise Flame finish, then continue to the C-profile mahogany neck that feels like a million dollars, loaded with a silky pau ferro fretboard and 22 stainless steel frets. Two fantastic-sounding Tesla OPUS-1 AlNiCo-5 pickups have loads of sweet humbucker tones on tap, with a rounded low end, a silky-smooth mid-range and crisp highs. Let’s cut to the chase: this is a beast of a guitar that you’ll find difficult to put down.

Hi from Spain, well my SC-550 II PAF arrived back from the second repair. The selector switch was replaced but BOTH volume and tone controls for both pick ups did not function so I had to return it again. Yesterday 3 months after buying the guitar they gave me my money back, which I did not want I told them I would accept any of the SC-550 II models but mine was a "B" stock and they said they did not have one. Then they told me to return the hard case which was perfect which I bought with the original order. Of course I had to pay all the costs for the repair to the graphite nut and travelling costs to and from my city post office three times. I guess I was just unlucky?

they are good for the money and if you spend a little time on them with files and emery paper and an allen key for the neck relief then they can truly play BETTER than their parent patterns
also rareley you will enjoy some electrics or pup swapping ... install a solderless system ...your welcome

Hi from Spain, excellent video. I bought exactly the same guitar in June 2022, it arrived unplayable, the nut set so high it was impossible even to play simple chords which I had fixed at my cost. The volume and tone controls on the bridge pick up don't work and the volume control on the neck pick up is inconsistent. I sent it back on the 11th.July, hopefully they will fix it because it could be a great guitar, but I question their quality control.

@jock scott I can make any guitar sound half reasonable through a distortion setting, but the acid test is hearing it with clean sounds and acoustically. That's where inexpensive guitars tend to fall down of course.

These guitars are now built with a meranti body and neck, so by replacing the mahogany of the guitar in this video with merianti, the tonal quality of the units currently built does not correspond to the classic tonal quality emitted by the guitar in this video Constructed of mahogany. The switch from mahogany to meranti is a big mistake in my opinion, the tone will be less les paul and this model will lose much of its appeal, and it has made me question the purchase of my second sc-550 II. Please I would like someone to clarify if I will get the same tone with the current production meranti as with the old production sc-550 II in mahogany that I already own. Thank you
