Ces chants ont été composés d'après le témoignage de Iakovos Kambanellis, du livre qu'il a écrit après la guerre sur son internement à Mauthausen. Mikis Theodorakis les a mis en musique et ça donne ces merveilleux chants, notamment le Cantique des Cantiques, Asma Asmaton en grec (le Cantique des Cantiques est un des textes de la Bible)
