Love the mods James. Best rav 4 prime yet.
Thank you!
Hey James! Just bought my 2021 RAV4 TDR off-road. Glad to see some other guys out there getting these babies looking good. I’ve owned many Wranglers and 4runners and the versatility of this thing and mpg is amazing. Have you looked into tuning or suspension upgrades?
What kinda hitch is that amd does it blocks the lift gate sensor?
I will be buying a xybrid xle rav 4 model next week:) I will be installing mud tires, tje ladder, a hitch and the gfc supper light roof top tent:) great video by the way. Love ur rav 4
My favorite Prime on youtube
Thank you so much for your positive comment and thank you for watching!
Does the weight of the ladder cause any issues opening the hatch? And does climbing on the ladder cause the hatch to move/shift at all? Or does it feel pretty solid.
I came to see James and his RAV4 Prime, but I stayed because of the Christmas Story reference 😂👍 keep up the classic movie quotes my friend
Best comment ever. haha
Can you believe some people didn’t get it?! Lol
@@JamesKlafehn those people missed out on something truly special then lol part of me hopes that they were just too busy watching Clark W. Griswold attempt to string up his Christmas tree lights 🤣 both are easily my top two favorite holiday movies
@@JamesKlafehn Hey! Better not be lookin' at me, dude...I got it, I'm just an ass, dammit! :)
Cool I did not see that one coming.
I tried to post on their install video, but it keeps getting deleted. I had similar issues with my 2.0 ladder. All my hardware was rusted after a couple days. Did you have that problem? I had to use Gorilla double sided tape instead of the “3M” tape that was supplied. I wish they would listen to the customers to improve the product. The bottom bracket has only 1 set screw and no back plate. It shifts once I step on it and I can see damage from the inside set screw moving. They need to put 2 set screws and a back plate on the bottom bracket. I used vinyl wrap to help with metal to body paint contact on the inside and a rubber bumper on the bottom.
That Rav 4 is P R I M E !!!!
Hey quick question though. Im getting a Rav 4 soon and I was wondering before buying a prinsu rack , can you attach snowboards racks onto the prinsu rack ? Or the rack you have ?
Im sure you can but you would need a bracket to hold the snowboards.
Looks great!
Does it dig more into the bumper when a 180lb +\- person climbs up top?
Probably. :( I wish there was a better way to do this. Probably drilling holes in the door.
I think you're in my neck of the woods. I'm in Chautauqua county and just picked up a '23. nice work on this
I used to be. But thank god I finally got my wife to move out of NY. We are in TN as of July 2022.
@@JamesKlafehn Ahh good for you! just saw your posts on the forum. did you sell the rack and ladder?? I'll take them off your hands
@@zm6658 Yeah I sold those before I left NY. They were pretty nice!
Do you have the rearview mirror camera? How does the latter a fact that view?
Good job 👍
Thanks!
Can the roof tent work on the panoramic roof rav4 xse?
Hi question! Currently installing this ladder, what camper tape is it that you used on the bumper?
Plain ol tape from home depot. It was maybe 1" x 1/4". One side is sticky and the other side isnt.
Did you drill the hole on the top and bottom for the screw to go in? Or there’s already a hole.
No drilling required.
Maybe use duck tape at the bottom of ladder bracket insertions since the camper tape is a little ticker and ladder bracket attached to the bottom of the rear door gate doesn't goes as flushed to prevent hitting the top porting of the bumper/paint...🙄🤗😇
Hi James, I have a question for you. I also have a rav4 prime and I would like to know if the 12 volts battery is charge only with the gaz engine. Does the 12 volts is charging when it is plug with the 110 volts or the 240 volts ? Does the 12 volts battery is charged on the EV mode. Sorry my English is not very good. Thank’s
12v is charged when in Ready mode and Room mode. It is not charged while charging the HV battery.
Tank’s James for answering my question. Have a nice day. Looking forward for your next video.
@@normandfontaine5508 Thank you for watching! If you liked it feel free to share. Thanks!
Are you sure it’s OK to put that kind of weight on the hatch door when climbing up? It’s composite, isn’t it? The hinges probably weren’t designed for that kind of stress and the weight is mostly one side.
I dont know. I dont like that it is harming my bumper though. I guess I need to lose some weight....
You can slightly bend that bracket for better fitment
I think grinding it and repainting it is what I will do at some point.
It sucks that the finish wont match though.
Can your add a link for this ladder?
Did you find a fix to that bracket rubbing?
No but I bought this to protect the bumper. ua-cam.com/video/xpk3KhZVJ1M/v-deo.html
How was the sturdiness Jim? Did you get to try to actually climb on it? Was waiting for that part on the vidieo.😉
It seemed strong but I dont like that it is damaging my bumper. I think a metal plate that sits on the bumper would help disperse the pressure when someone is climbing on it. I havent climbed it yet myself in case I am too heavy and break something. I want to send my wife up their first but I only see her on weekends and this was done last sunday.
@@JamesKlafehn Hey James have you found a solution to this situation yet? Not sure if the answer is in any other videos.
@@stevenseagondollar9379 A solution for what? The ladder works great.
@@JamesKlafehn You mentioned that there was too much weight on the bumper and that you found it to be damaging your bumper, therefore you'd only send your wife up the ladder until you found a solution like adding a metal plate to the bumper that the weight could better disperse onto.
@@stevenseagondollar9379 Oh yeah. I installed a metal plate there. I made a video about that too. It helps to support the ladder but the ladder even dented the plate.
Aha! I knew you were a closet Land Rover dude! Also you can use your car instead of the ladder around the house, good grip tires CHECK!
Rovers are THIRSTY! They are cool but Id never own one. I really want a truck again but I am waiting for an EV truck. Thanks for watching!!!!
Hey did you email rnofit about the damage on your bumper ? I wonder if thats a normal fit
I dont remember. I think I might have talked to them on Instagram but I dont recall. I guess its normal. In this video I added a bar that protects the bumper. Everyone should get one. ua-cam.com/video/xpk3KhZVJ1M/v-deo.html
@@JamesKlafehn awesome. That looks great! Probably get that too. I did email rnofit. They said they do have a newer bracket that does fit tighter.... but this video was only published in dec. So maybe you already have the newer bracket ..
@@MarkTrav1982 I dont know. I should message them and ask. There is no reason that the bracket cant be shorter. Maybe that is what they did on the newer ones. I actually remember now that they sent me a message saying they liked my foam tape idea and were going to use that.
@@JamesKlafehn cool cool. Just curious. Do undercoat your vehicle for salt since you live in a snowy area??
@@MarkTrav1982 No. I did when I was a kid but its a waste of money IMO. Old cars rusted a lot. But newer modern cars dont rust like they used to.
What phone mount are you using?
amzn.to/3reK0w5 You can find my entire Amazon store here. www.amazon.com/shop/jamesklafehn
I use ProClip. Expensive but versatile and finished.
For the bracket that hits the bumper, I would just put it in a rubberized non marring vice and whack that little hook clamp with a dead blow sledge and move it a few mm. That's all you would need for the clearance. Even if it deformed a little, that wouldn't affect how it worked or diminish the fit and finish.
Yes, it's french for delicate specially if its from Canada... No requirement for a ladder but interesting none of the less, thanks...
It was a joke. It’s a quote from a movie called A Christmas Story.
@@JamesKlafehn Oh, ok, gotcha :-)
If it came from Canada, clearly, Fragile is clearly French. Sheesh, man!
Lol. You do know the reference though right?
I'm Canadian in English speaking western Canada. Fragile is English and we put those stickers on parcels that we don't want broken. Fragile in French is brittle.
@@FreddietheFly It was a joke. It’s a quote from a movie called A Christmas Story.
@@FreddietheFly pfffwwebbbtttt. Canada isn’t a real country! Stop using all those made up words.
@@JamesKlafehn OK I saw that movie a long time ago and don't recall that part.
WHAT?!
What what!
Wouldn't this ladder add stress to the motorized hatch lifters? Wouldn't that shorten their lifespan? not sure it would be worth it.
Its very lightweight. Im sure its not even noticeable to the lifters.
Hey bro, do you have an IG page we can follow?
I have one but I dont really post there much. I havent done much social media at all lately. I think it is JKlafehn. Maybe jimbo69ny. I dont remember.
