Born 6 June 1868 - Robert Falcon Scott

I was born Robert Falcon Scott on June 6th, 1868, in Devonport, England. From a young age, the spirit of exploration burned brightly within me. Joining the Royal Navy at just thirteen, I dreamt of adventure and discovery. My thirst for knowledge led me to the unforgiving expanses of Antarctica. Twice I ventured into that desolate world, braving blizzards and bone-chilling temperatures. Though I achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the South Pole on my second expedition in 1912, the joy was short-lived. The Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, had beaten me to the prize, and the perilous journey back to base claimed my life and those of my companions.
