"Reaper's Revenge" is in reference to where its used in KH3, as it uses a lot of new arrangements of notable tracks throughout the series (and just for a single boss fight!).
I love the original PS2 arrangement of Tension Rising so much, but am amazed at how nearly the entire feel of this track is different from just a few adjustments and additions to the main melody.
Would you be shocked if I told you the original version of this song was the tutorial boss theme in KH2?

This theme is used pretty heavily throughout the series, but as with many remixes made for KH3 it is my favorite version by far.
I'm really glad I found someone that knows about music and doesn't pause ever 15 seconds, talks for 5 minutes, plays another song to compare, and then goes back to the song.

I think Tension Rising has been a fan favorite since KH2, and this remix in Kingdom Hearts 3 for me personally is the best version, in the game it typically plays in tense battle moments, like running through a world while enemies swarm you, and fittingly the enemies that appear are grim reaper-esque enemies.
That's Shotaro Shima for you. It's an arrangement of an original track by Yoko Shimomura back in KH2. KH3 is Shima's first title in the KH series, also known for his works in FF7R. I believe you've listened to one of his works before: "Bombing Mission" from FF7R. To this day, I still can't wrap my mind around how Shima appeared out of nowhere in the video game music industry and made all these bangers. His prominent works so far are just FF7R and KH3!

KH is one of my actual favourite series and absolutely the one I play the most. It's my comfort gaming. Every time I need a pick me up, I run one of the games. I have some others I will replay quite a lot too, but none anywhere close to the same frequency. Great music and a good length to run the story for a quick headspace boost.
A remix of "Tension Rising" originally from "Kingdom Hearts II" on PS2. This track is mainly used for story battles against an enemy type called 'Nobodies', but has occasionally been used elsewhere seemingly to add variety to the music. This version is arranged by Shotaro Shima. This is the second remix of the song from "Kingdom Hearts III", the first one is called "Tension Rising -Angelic Amber-" by Yuko Komiyama.
There is a fight with a boss called the 'Grim Reaper' in the series, but this song is not used for that fight (the track used there is called "The Corrupted"). The "Reaper" in the title is a minor enemy type, where this plays for a story fight against a horde of them, funnily enough, on a waterfront at nighttime.
Fun Fact! The names of the different Nobody enemies are all references to "Final Fantasy" job classes.
As others have mentioned, the original of this song in KH2 is primarily used for fights against Nobody hordes or non-plot critical bosses(The important named bosses got 13th Struggle and 13th Dilemma), meanwhile this version is used in KH3 when attacked by a horde of Reaper Nobodies, the minions of a leader with a scythe
And to think this track was used solely in Rapunzel's world near the end where you had to fight your way back to Rapunzel's Tower to stop Gothel.
It was used III times in that world.
Well you are as right as you are wrong. This song plays mostly when there are waves of specific enemies ("Nobodies") attacking. It is not related to water in any way but listening while trying to delete the context I think I can see where you come from.

Reapers revenge is just the name of this specific version of this song. It is named that way because it plays in KH3 when you are fighting enemies who are using scythes as weapons.
And the setting is in the woods of the Disney world of Rapunzel.
Edit: And I love Tension Rising. It’s name is just perfect as it describes precisely what happens in the track. And its original version from KH2 is also amazing!

I had completely forgotten the brief moments where I wasn't uh... shall we say emotionally compromised... during kh3 where I could actually appreciate the music. Think I've gotten sufficient distance from the game now to go through the OST and at least enjoy that.
I like a lot of what this version does, though some of the original feel kinda gets drowned out. Hard to pick which i like more.
This is my favorite track in the franchise. Kh 2 semented this song in my brain and I'm always hyped up with every new version and remix.

The Reaper mentioned in the title is a series wide secondary antagonist who pops up a couple times in the games. I actually love the guy, Yoko Shimomura always gives him absolute bangers for themes. I’m sure people have already recommended his most popular themes Lord of the Castle and Graceful Assassin.
I still think kh 2 tension rising is the best, mostly cause it's the one I've heard the most. Just FYI if you haven't figured out yet, kh3 has alot more rock inspired instrumentals than the rest of the series which gives it its epic finale feel.

Yep, i agree. Everything in KH3 is more "epic" like. Even the main menu theme "Dearly Beloved". Which is a little upsetting, but i understand why it's like that.

Kingdom Hearts really does have a ton of amazing music. To name a few that I hope get requested: Dismiss, Darkness of the Unknown, The Other Promise, Yozora theme.

You genuinely should listen to "Destati" from the Kingdom Hearts World Tour. The theme is present in almost every game and it's one of the best.
My personal favourite of the Kingdom hearts saga is "darkness of the unknown" the kh2fm version.
I recommend Roxas or The Other Promise. They're very much the same song in their base, but in a sense Other Promise is a combat theme that is uniquely sad, unlike others in the game.
KH2 Editions. Kh3's remakes of the themes represent the true character, so they're very upbeat, as their story is complete
Tresured Memories and Always in my Mind, those two are also great songs
