I've got the Billie Joe Gibson Les Paul Jr (my wife got it for my birthday years ago) but would love this also looks great. Good to see they keep rocking the leopard skin case
I got this guitar as a collectors item mainly because of the case, then the guitar was a nice surprise, it holds its own with my Gibson Les Paul Tribute Double Cut. The neck is chunky for sure, the guitar and the playability is solid, can’t complain. Out of the box all I had to do is adjust the action and ready to go.
Pretty sure those are the same specs as the sunburst $429 'Inspired by Gibson' model (which was first released last year at a $379 price point). As far as I can tell these are the only things that set Billie Joe's signature model apart from the Inspired by Gibson one: the mother of pearl Epiphone decal (instead of silkscreened), Billie Joe's signature, and the white finish. & I hope you're right about the cases popping up on the used market, because I can't justify buying the same guitar twice. I'm glad you point out the things that make that the $399 bundle is more like a Epiphone Les Paul SL level beginner guitar. I'm sure there are going to be people who think they're saving money and getting the same guitar with a cheap amp instead of that nice case.
Ugh I’ve wanted one of these and this demo is sooooo sick! I want to be able to play like that. I was looking at the Gibson versions but I think the Epi will do just just fine 😎. Wonderful demo and sick chops!!!
I had to wait about 9 months for this guitar. Passed on a heavy one(8lbs 10 ounces )got one that weighs 7lbs 5 ounces. Love❤this guitar. Action too high out of the box for me
Epiphone has been stepping up its game!!! Not only do the guitars look cool! They're great playing and sounding too! And this one isn't any different!!!
Got mine yesterday mines almost 100% perfect other than a few sharp Fret ends around the 12/14 frets Plus I got lucky my fretboard is very dark and I just found your channel today and I subscribed thank you Great review
watch out for black dye, i ran into that on a recording king the other day...some kind of red material, man made revelbond? yeah they dyed the bridge, cleaning it and all this black stuff smeared on the guitar...fun times right...
I’ve got this one and the tobacco burst LPJ too and they’re absolutely fantastic!!! LPJ is my fave guitar and this model is just amazing!! Affordable and just kicks ass as you can hear. Getting a dookie tone can be done but you’ve gotta keep in mind that anything before American Idiot was a strat. 2004 and onward he uses the junior regularly. So if you want the American Idiot/21 century breakdown tone this is definitely for you.
small note, billie started using les pauls (live at least) during the Warning era, everything before that was the strat with a humbucker in it. wont get that dookie tone with a base strat that has single coils, either need to mod one or get one that comes with a humbucker in the bridge. but other than that yes, this guitar isnt for dookie or insomniac tones as you said
@@leonardoarellanes7393 off the top of my head I’d say no. But there may be some smaller differences like neck profile (taper vs thick neck), construction (set vs bolt on neck), fretboard wood, wood of the body, and small things like that. But overall they’re both flattop Les Paul’s with a single P90 so generally you’ll get the same sound
I just subscribed ! Amazing guitar and this P90 pickups sounds amazing !!! You want to play rock & roll once you plug it. Hope to get one of those one day :3
Nice review. Juniors are just rowdy rock machines. Isn't that green LP y'all are giving away the one you bought from the Demo shop tour? I remember that video.
Been looking at the next guitar to add to my collection, this one caught my eye big time. I used to hate the Jr’s but now i’m kinda digging the simplicity of it. I love the P90 sounds, and I don’t currently have anything with a P90 in it so I was digging that. I think this is definitely a contender.
So I ordered mine a few days ago, and they said it’s on back order until April because there’s 45 people ahead of me. So… must be a killer axe, dude. I can’t wait to play it after watching this vid.
Awesome review 🙌🏻 that case is unreal 🤣 as a Green Day fan, this is so appealing to me. Nice giveaway at the start too, if that didn't get me to subscribe, this review would have 🙌🏻🔥 stay awesome guys 🖤
I just got mine and it bites hard on chords. Steve Marriott would have been very happy pushin' it thru his 1970 Marshall double head single bottom stack with Humble Pie. Lonesome Dave would have felt the same!
I picked this up a few weeks ago. You are right on. It’s a rock machine. Like others have said. Lowered the actions a tiny bit. No buzz. Few frets Need to be buffed. But seriously this thing sounds like no other I have for rock power chords. P.s it’s my most resonate guitar. Well done epiphone
thats the power of a les paul jr style of guitar thew man Epiphone is is kickin ass lately with the inspired by gibson to the signature modals i wish i had the money to buy all the ones i like
Brother please tell us what the signal chain is whenever you are playing. When you first started playing and were turned up, which pedal or pedals were engaged? Thanks.
Cranked tone is Kemper "MeBo Still Netto Fluiddrive" which is a profile of a Mesa Boogie Stiletto. The cleans are Kemper "Super Two Tone" by M. Britt, profile of a Dual Tone. All sounds are stock, recorded direct out with no additional effects. Thanks for watching!
I'd rather a Gibson Junior DC Tribute for similar price. My rule of getting a low end Gibson rather than a high end Epiphone has served me really well so far with my Gibson LP Tribute. Such a great, great guitar - a TOAN monster!! - and really bare bones.
Similar price? Those are a thousand, and have a satin finish, weird colors, and that funky pickguard. A vintage spec junior is $1600 and up. There is nothing remotely close in price to this.
I love Les Paul Jr. And specials ! I cut my teeth on a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Jr. With one dog ear p90 and it's the guitar that turned me into Gibson everything but I can't say I like the tone of your Jr. And the same for the JJN Les Paul custom that I have right now it's making me wonder what's the reason for not liking this tone at all because I've also got the new Epiphone inspired by Gibson Les Paul special TV and pickups in this thing sounds better than all my p90 loaded Gibson guitars so I'm perplexed 🤷
Dude turn the distortion down, this isnt a metal guitar, you should use plexi/jcm800 tones if youre doing a BJA guitar demo. I got basically nothing from this about how this guitar actually sounds for the tones that most people would use it for
Talk about a rock n’ roll machine! There is nothing wrong with any of those tones if that is what you are going for. When you rolled the tone off and were playing higher up the neck you were channeling that “woman tone” that Clapton had in Cream. The pots must have a lot to do with that and I have heard high quality pots make a difference. Very evident here. And that pickup just sings. I think I know what my next guitar will be. I love the white, too. Just a killer guitar. Thanks for the video.
It is a thinner mahogany body without a carved maple cap. It’s kind of a no frills Les Paul and was introduced at a lower price point. Typically with a P90 and simpler wrap around tailpiece. They rock!!
I wouldn’t rate it super high on intonation with that fixed wrap around tailpiece, but yea it rocks and has a sound/vibe for sure. The tuners are high quality, that’s no issue. Combination of setup and acceptance of what it is if you hold onto it
got one of these like a 2003 LP jr, not this signature version or anything, for $5. Of course it needs some work but I seriously enjoy playing it. must be the shorter scale length? idk..
Mine came in the mail with the headstock snapped off in the case. Guy at the store said it was the second one to come in that store with the same problem.
p90s are the best pickups. not a fan of artist series in general, due to the cash grab nature of them...then again, at least now there's an epiphone version, as normal Gibson prices are beyond a lot of people's budgets, lets be honest. anyhow, it's a cool finish and has a p90, so thats always nice...
A tiny bit of linseed oil rubbed on the fretboard will bring it to life and a little will go a long way. I had a Gibson SG faded T 2017 and the fretboard looked dried out and played like crap. I took some linseed oil to it and it made a world of difference
I’ve got nobody to impress with the headstock, so I’ll be proudly adding this to my collection.
Just ordered mine. When the original Gibson was available I haven't had the money and then they were to expensive. So glad Epiphone released this one!
To be honest EPIPHONE is better than GIBSON because they are cheap
Haha! Me too. Can’t wait to get back to Ontario and pick it up from the store…
@@fraxxcjangerl7195 yeah

I would love to have one of these. Green Day is my favorite band.
Been waiting for a solid rundown on this guitar since it was announced. Thanks for putting together a great demo!
Thanks glad you enjoyed! 🐆🔥
I love the combination of single P90 with set '50's profile neck. That's pretty neat at that price.
I love the white junior, I'm not even a Green Day fan, but I would love this guitar.
I'm just very happy to see Epiphone making high end guitars again the Customs Moderns and prophecy Models are flawless!
I've got the Billie Joe Gibson Les Paul Jr (my wife got it for my birthday years ago) but would love this also looks great. Good to see they keep rocking the leopard skin case

Funny how the Gibson signature junior DC came with a gig bag, and the epiphone which is more than half the price, is sold with a guitar case
Pretty sure those are the same specs as the sunburst $429 'Inspired by Gibson' model (which was first released last year at a $379 price point). Even when using a strat, you should keep in mind his humbucker is slanted a bit, which has some effect on the tone as well.
@@leonardoarellanes7393 tbh it’s the exact same guitar! I thought maybe the neck thickness would be different but they’re the same

Awesome playing!
Yo amo el modelo Junior, que tanta diferencia tendrá con la Gibson 🤔
Got mine a couple days ago. Awesome guitar! Mine came with very high action, so after a quick setup, it was perfect!
Yea I needed to set it up after filming this too by lowering the action, seems to be a common theme. Enjoy the guitar!
They should have upgraded the P90 at least. Also, Rosewood would have looked so much better.
