I got the $549 version in this week, and I am absolutely blown away by this guitar. No QC issues AT ALL. It sounds amazing and plays great! I've been playing for a little under 30 years, and this is the first Epiphone I've ever owned. I can say without a doubt that if you put tape over the top of the head stock and had anyone give it a go, they would say it's "definitely a Gibson." All of the other Epiphones that I've played up until the past couple of years were pure shit so I'm extremely excited about playing this one for years to come!
I purchased this guitar only because I have been wanting a guitar with a single P90 and the case is an exciting bonus. This guitar shines with the straight forward design and the volume knob when using it to roll back gives you an excellent choice of tones and cleans up very nicely and the neck fits nicely for power chords and heavy bending riffs.
Same here. I had a Harley Benton Goldtop with P90s but that guitar felt like it was 20lbs. I wasn't impressed with the tone either. Im on the hunt for a Black LP Jr. I NEED a P90. 😂
I’m actually intrigued by the player pack version, that neck joint looks very much like Juniors have always traditionally made with the exception of screws instead of glue. The pocket looks very similar with the visible shoulder on the treble side. That could be an excellent joint if it’s tight enough.
Meh, I'm actually sad that the afd special 2 may be going. Always wanted one but always found something else to put the money into. But the only thing here interesting to me is the case. Can you buy the case separately? I'd almost buy it just for the case. Personally I think maybe, just maybe it's white and basic so that it can be the blank canvas for a developing guitar player to customize and mess it up in their own way, write, doodle on it type thing. 😃
Thanks for clearing this up. There's no mention of the case or set neck in any of the ads I've seen so I was wondering why it costs more without the amp lol
Yep, with the bolt on neck and humbucker, tuning keys that wouldn’t hold and a nut made out of a plastic that you couldn’t work on without it cracking in half. Good times. Fun to play.
Leslie West at Woodstock is a great example of the Jr tone potential. The sustain from his rig can be easily mistaken for a humbucker. Go have a listen. It will make you love your Jr more
I got mine in the uk last night and I actually love it way more than I thought I would. I kick myself a lot for not buying the 2006 gibson version when it came out
I considered buying one as well around 2009, but you're getting anything you're not getting with a regular LPJ. that's why I'm just looking for a MIJ LPJ, orville, tokai possibly.
@@amaurythewarrior check out the coronet if u want a deal on a single p90...its a great guitar, with a look that harks back to they hay days of epiphone when they were still made in america by gibson

Or, people might just decide they really like the guitar after production stops.

The pro in epiphone pickups just means it uses nickel silver for base plates, this is important because it's the electromagnetic characteristics of nickel silver that give the pro p90 it's distinct sound. The other likely has brass which isn't bad or better just different obviously nickel silver is more expensive than brass.
Great video and nice guitar. I have seen this guitar around and I havnt thought of buying one untill you mentioned it lol. Man your starting to influence me. I love the case and think thats reason enough to buy it. I would probably pick up the nicer of the two instead of the package deal. I really wish they would come out with the info you had when they offer these. they are a great idea for a CHRISTmas Gift for a beginner for sure. I think both prices are fair but they need to be more upfront about it. It makes a person wounder what else they are putting in the fine print. If any print at all. Thanks Dave well se ya saturday.
I got one of the player packs a while back for nearly half off, so couldn’t pass it up. Threw the amp away. Swapped the junk tuners for a set of Grovers. Changed the cheap plastic nut. Polished the frets. Threw in a set of Gibson vintage spec pots. Now it’s fantastic.
I just got one of these yesterday. The white finish is very vintage. Off white with a pink hugh to it. The quality and feel is 100. Not a single defect to be found.
I would say if you want an affordable single p90 type guitar, the epiphone coronet is the best bang for the buck. If i was gonna buy bja signature id try to find the gibson model... the coronet is an outstanding deal with a look thats true to the original coronets. I was started out with a fender Squier SE SSS but my guitar teacher installed hot rails on the bridge after he found out I preferred Billie Joe’s tone. He bought the Signature/hard case when it came out (I think) and I asked if I could play with it and he asked if I preferred the tone on the signature. P90s really have this nice chunky tone that is hard to get from a strat Although playing on it was definitely weird to me at first because the neck was much thicker. Loved it though.
to be fair, at first I was just like "was that really worth making a video", but I tend to forget how lost I was when I started playing... and the pack is clearly aimed at beginners... But was I not paying attention, or did you forget to mention the glued on neck?
They really need to be putting Gibson Usa p90 in the top model. Charge 60+ bucks more if you want. I haD the 1955 Epi Custom that came with the Gibby p90's and just a phenomenal guitar
They're not too bad however would have been nice to see a few colour options. Should have gone with the Silver Metal flake finish like one of the JR's he plays a lot on stage and in one of the music video's. I guess if people are not fussed on having a hardcase then the standard Epiphone Les Paul Jr is almost half the price and has a nicer neck profile. Fender should be jumping all over Billie Joe Armstrong to get a signature model out however unlike Gibson they just concentrate on strange artists that can't play in tune and that nobody has heard of.🍻
I have the same "problem". I already own a white LP Jr., and it would've been nice to get an ebony or vintage sunburst. They are just as iconic as the white one. It's a huge missed opportunity by Epiphone.
I want to get one, absolutely love juniors and have been wanting to get one of his Gibson juniors. The thing is, I fucking hate the epiphone headstock, even with the headstock it’s still shit :(
I ordered one but I have to admit that no ebony fretboard and no angled bridge was a complete letdown. A pickup I can replace with a better one but not these two features.
No need the pro p90s are excellent pickups. I agree it should though it should of had that stacked p90 Gibson built for his last signature. Still your not getting a raw deal pro p90s.
Whip's cheap guitars did a video 4years about Epiphone Les Paul jr Funny look at the guitar he is holding in the video almost looks like the Billy Joe model even same white paint only difference is the pickup is a humbucker and not a p90
I love a deal or buying value. HB's deliver a lot at low price points but rarely holds its value. Either of these BJA editions are reasonably priced but esp the higher priced one will hold value. The higher priced one will most likely go up in price over time.
