There's a correction in the correction you've made. The centroid comes to 1.55 and not 1.6 because the corrected value of 4.95" is incorrect. It has to be (3" + (0.39"/2)) = 3.195". When you use this value, the centroid y comes to 1.55" from the compression fiber.
