I love love love Rachel Atherton! I love all of the Athertons! I miss Gee and Affy! Please bring back The Atherton Project! Way to go Rachy! Keep up the hard work and it will always pay of for you. Well enough sounding like a super fan, hope y'all do well in 2014 and beyond!
Rachel is inspiring for many reasons but I do have a special kind of respect for her because she's always honest about what mindset she's in before a race and seeing someone sometimes having to struggle with herself to be more confident and fearless helps other women in their personal struggle in 'mind of matter' to be more brave and daring when they ride.
Robbie Parker Correct. I believe GT is (one of if not) the first to launch a 27.5" gravity bike being just 2 months old. But I really haven't heard of any 29er DH bike. Seems companies do not like size that for DH for many reasons.
The problem with 29" and DH-bikes is that those big wheels don't fit together with that much suspension... The bar would be very high, also the riders position in general. 27,5" is the biggest wheelsize that you can possibly get into a frame that delivers that much suspension.
That's because it IS slow. Woman's DH is a complete fucking joke. Anyone who watched the past World Cup round in Cairns knows this. Rachel smashed her own qualifying time (as the top seed nonetheless) by over 30 seconds!!! And she won the race by over 12 seconds! Oh, did I mention there were only like 20 woman even racing? There is so little parity in the woman's field, it's a complete joke. Aside from about three woman who have the support and backing of large teams, the others don't even stand a chance of an equal playing field.
FrostBite Pokin well in the mens race there are hundreds of competitors compared to like 20 odd in womens, therefore there is more talent and therefore everyone has to work harder and go faster inorder to come out ontop. Also to say that the men are stronger than women and therefore are able to maintain power and control of the bike in order to achieve greater speeds
Freeski Swizzy Because as with many other sports (and road cycling being right up there on the list), women are only just starting out to be recognised and get sponsorship as professional athletes. I don't think it's very helpful to make these comments on women's MTB vids, especially when there are so painfully little out there. It needs to be supported by men and women alike so that women will have the confidence to enter into the sport and improve their skills.

I strongly agree
Great work Rachel, all the luck this year!
wow that looks like crazy fun! Red Bull
i agree, I havent seen a video with her going faster than 4kmph yet
that's funny because really she is never going under 15kmph apart from the slow parts of the track
she could still beat you.
so... are you sponsored by redbull and gt?
Guess she doesn't need to go faster to win World Champs and European Champs.
the vids not doing her justice
I Love Rachel
The Athertons are the very reason Janeen and I got into mountain biking.
Good on you, Rachel!
Looks like so much fun!!!!
don't watch many races, but every time I do the Athertons are winning it
On ya Rach!
i feel that Rachel is a better rider and we need more youtube vids of her and not her bigger brothers

Is wheel size 26 or 29 better for this type of races?
For DH? I haven't seen a 29er DH/gravity bike yet. Have you?
At the World Cup in Cairns, Rachel was on a 27.5.

#freakingawesome RACHEL'S A BEAST!!!!!! LOVE HER!!!
obviously she's faster than me but compared to mens downhill that looks really slow :P
Some reason mans are more crazy on races that's why they separate man and woman in category
