Second time I've watched this and it's this fellow's honest enthusiasm that brought me back. T'would be great to take a ride with him pity I'm half the world away in Thailand. My brother and my Dad had Triumphs in England in the '60's when boys dreamed of two things, pretty girls and Triumph Bonnevilles ... Love Live and Ride Your Pony
Thank you for showing that lovely bike . I purchased a Used Triumph America my first Used Triumph, just to get back into riding again after a 2 year off riding. Now looking for a newer model. Everything for me anyway pints to the T120, looks so classic. Thanks for giving me some ideas, safe riding.
The T120 is really the ultimate retro bike. They handle very well and have amazing power all through the range. Would love to have one myself...I do own a T100 :)
Awesome review thank you. Yes its interesting the wind screen thing. I owned 3 Harley 1340's during the 90's and screens were almost never seen. I'm guessing if you try a screen and like it, you will always want one. Thank you again for a great clip.
Understated elegance - just the right ratio of black to chrome, panniers in keeping with the overall design. Probably the prettiest machine since the BMW R90S!
I had skipped the intro to hear your thoughts along the ride. I was thinking, “those look like rural Iowa roads.” So I go back, Marne, Iowa! Haha. Thanks for your thoughts on the T120. I had ridden one a few years back. Went with an Indian Scout instead. Now I am reconsidering, want a different ride than a cruiser. Cheers from Clive!
The Scout is a great bike, has rode a few of them and like it. Head on over to Marne and check out the T120's or some of the other great bikes. Short ride from Clive. Wahoo
Absolutely spot on buddy I concur with what you said but also the Feedback you get is wow cruising or accelerating or throttling off it gives you amazing feedback best bike I’ve ever enjoyed and a absolute keeper so much so I’ve given it to my son 17 years old i, I’ve left it to him in my will I’m 68 young he absolutely loves it, awesome review thank you ☀️🏍👊🥰
I feel a lump in my throat. I rode a T120 Bonneville (650 4-gear) in the 1960's here in Australia. And it rode just as you describe here in your video. It would burble happily around the city (Brisbane) and was very manoeuvrable, or take off leaving almost everyone else in the dust if you changed down and grabbed a fistful of revs. It had a certain feel on the road. It was extremely responsive and I hardly ever needed to use full throttle to really accelerate and fly. With the 360 crank it was very low engine vibration. When my mates and I swapped bikes for fun at times they were green with envy at how silky the ride was. Especially the owners of the new Japanese bikes that were taking over. From your review I would say this new T120 is not just retro in looks. I want to tell you that all the fine riding features you describe in this video were there in my 1964 - 650 Triumph T120. The new one appears to have a near identical frame/forks/trailing-arm architecture and riding position. What a magical thing that the modern iteration has captured so well the deep spirit of the original Bonneville. I am very impressed and not a little moved. Still have my license but haven't ridden for years. I would so love to take one out for a run. I can tell from your ride and its note that I would be at one with it in minutes, and that's not just sentiment. I used to take my girlfriend out on it. We are still married. I really miss my old Bonnie, but am staggered that it has been reincarnated - better than ever.
Thank you for this note. Always love to hear this. Motorcycles have been a big part of my life from my first few years of life. A Bonneville, old or new is a beautiful thing. Thanks for the note. Wahoo!
In 1968 I took a fast train from my home town to Newcastle in England where my brother picked up his new T120. A band called the Box Tops had a hit record titled The Letter. We had a group of friends called '' The Rocker Box Tops " In England in those days bikers were called ' Rockers ' I think a gent of your stature will know where the rocker box tops are on a bike. Whenever any of us went into our local biker cafe we would put The Letter on the Juke box. I recall one time it played 6 times off the belt, nobody seemed to mind. Oh my goodness, oh those wonderful times. When I bought my own Bonneville in 2017 it felt like I was buying a piece of the golden age of British Bikes...a piece of a Better time. Best to you my friend
Hi from Blighty, had one of these since 2017. Fabulous bike. Triumph listened to critics of the previous 900 and implemented them for the new bikes. very clever . Recomend the Thruxtons and the speed twin if you get a chance. You absolutely will not be doisapionted. Enjoyed your stateside review thank you.
The statement that Triumph Bonneville is the Cadillac of motorcycles chilled me. My wife once told me when I wanted to buy a motorcycle - OK, but don't buy a Harley. I don't want my husband to be associated with a bunch of Harleys. When I repeated your Triumph/Cadillac opinion, she said Bentley, Old Alfa Romeo, Lancia OK, but NO CADILLAC! Gentlemen don't drive Cadillacs! Just like they don't drive Mercedes and BMW. Once upon a time yes, but now NO! Triumph goes well with Sanders shoes, a jacket, and have you ever seen a driver dressed like this in a Cadillac? Regards
My Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer? Love it, but I’d need to call ahead for reservations to attempt a u-turn like that. I’ll keep it (because it’s just so much better than any GS I’ve owned…except my old ‘91 PD), but the T120 is on my radar! Thanks for the review and ride. Sweet grunt and pull, isn’t it? 👍👍
I have a '16. (just clicked over 12,000 miles) If you're into performance you might get a Speed Twin or a Thruxton. If you get a T120 replace the Pirelli Phantoms. They're sort of flat and don't let the bike transtion side to side well. I put on Avon Spirit st's and love them. Every weekend I go out and look for the curviest roads. (pretty sure the 2023s have better tires). The clutch is the best clutch I've ever used. The quality? Meh...... I've had a couple turn signals and the headlight go out. When I took it apart to replace the bulbs the problem was that the connections were loose. My chrome rims are already starting to rust. So, if you want a retro standard bike with spokes...yeah I recommend the Bonny. I know Royal Enfield is back but they are limited to 650cc. I'm glad I got a Triumph. It's not pefect but for the price it's a great motorcycle.
Absolutely love my Triumph T100, if it wasn't so nice I'd trade up to a T120 for the extra torque and cruise control. Triumph makes wonderful motorcycles. Wahoo!
That is a good question. Plenty of room for the arms and seat for sure. The legs may get tight. I'm a 30 inch inseam and was very comfortable. Get to a dealer and check it out. These are wonderful bikes.
I’m 6’3” and I did 3 things to make it fit - had the seat reupholstered jacking it up 2 inches, added Motone handlebar risers, added TEC rear shocks with 2” extension. Much better.
They have everything the old Meridan made bikes don't have. Expensive pollution controls, disc brakes need fluid change every 7,000 miles,no gear drive with push rods, chain drive valve system, plastic parts, no kick starter, expensive valve adjustment , electronics out the wazoo waiting to have a expensive failure, heavy 🪨 ,pale copy of a legendary classic, and not the least it's made in Thailand not England. My Triumph Tr-6 is 60 years old. I have had my Triumph Tr-6 with a hard tail and magneto for 40 years. Reliable and dependable transportation. Rebuidlable forever ♾️. She is also much better looking.
Enjoyed that... I just bought T120 after 6 Years and 138,000 Km on my T100. They're different bikes so you can't say one is better than the other. Some do but I always think you get used to the bike you ride in time and all the niggly negatives fade.
Timeless,iconic design and history.Beautiful.👏👏👏👏
Couldn't agree more!

Love this!
Fell in love with Triumph when I watched The Great Escape when I was a kid. Have a T120 Black and love it.
Nice!
Nothing to say except….I want one!
Agreed!
i bought it..

I ride a 2020 black model and I love it! I put a fly screen on mine and it make riding at 70 mph a breeze. I'll keep it till I die.
Truly beautiful machines. Wahoo!

I have a 2023 Black edition and I looooooove it.
Fabulous machines!
🤔🤔 It's on my short list .
looking forward to taking mine out on Sunday
Love these wonderful bikes :-)

Have a doctor check out that lump.

@@AsaCarrick Magic, thanks for the story.

These are fabulous bikes, someone compared them to a Rolex and I agree!. Love that Thruxton and would love to have a Speed Twin. Wahoo!
just beautiful
Thank you!
Love your bike reviews how about a back to back review of a modern Triumph Bonneville
And one from the 1970 era plzzzz,,,
Now that is a good idea!
The brown seat sets it off
I like it :-)
Hi, Fuzzy Biker, I like your videos, I like it alot👌
Hey, thanks!
Those bags set it off.
Thank you

Love the T120...need to get myself on that Tiger 1200 Rally. Wahoo!
Great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Double over head cam I believe on that one.
These have a SOHC with interesting forks that actuate the valves via bucket & shim. My older 865cc still has the DOHC. Great bikes. Wahoo!
I suspect the "torque assist" is likely a marketing term for their slipper clutch :)
agreed

How would the T120 fair for taller riders? I’m 6’4” with a 34 inch inseam. Great video and beautiful bike

Would suggest a Scambler 1200 xc for your height/legs
You should be ok.but yah perhaps the scrambler or an adventure bike would suit you as well.

Super nice video. Very surprised that you, being a highly experienced rider, would ride bare handed 😮.
Very!
Super nice.
Thank you
105 Nm of torque is equal to that of the SV1000 vee twin Suzuki race bike of 2006 (and my 2001 model BMW R1150GS...nothing to sniff at).
And all that torque comes in so low in the rpm range too!
Being a British bike, there isn't any aluminum on it. There is plenty of aluminium though.
Wahoo!
get back to us when you get a screen on it.
They can install a screen on one for you :)
Great video, but please wear gloves in future!
Wahoo
I have a T100 an 865, but I don't like it at all. A very disappointing bike.
Personally love the 865 bikes. Wahoo!
Enjoyed that... I just bought T120 after 6 Years and 138,000 Km on my T100. They're different bikes so you can't say one is better than the other. Some do but I always think you get used to the bike you ride in time and all the niggly negatives fade.
