That’s actually incorrect for 991.2 GT3 ordering status up until this point. It’s 53% manual vs 47% PDK. There maybe more .2 GT3 PDK out there on the roads now and that’s because Porsche only had started producing 6-speed .2 GT3 very recently. As for entire lifecycle of .2 GT3, I still think there will be more PDK than Manual, from what my local dealers are telling, it’s the most difficult to get a .2 GT3 with touring package (only available with 6-speed manual)
If I were head of Porsche I would release a GT3 5.0 with 650 horsepower and 5 frikkin liters of German boxer motoring perfection. What a beast it would be!

But a bunch of people who haven’t had GT3 s in the first place whined about no manual so Porsche responded. Those will be the people getting passed on the track by the PDK version. I’ve had 3 and the ONLY problem was being in the wrong gear at the wrong time at the wrong part of the corner, WITH the manual. The PDK takes care of this and with it it’s almost perfect

But all GT3s had a manual, this 991.2 GT3 which also has a Manual they only did a PDK only for the 991.1 GT3, so saying its the first GT3 for years with a manual is false since its still the 991 series when the GT3 comes 1 year after the new series (991 started 2012, GT3 and Turbo came 2013), its not like Porsche went 5 gens and brought it back, they brought it back mid refresh.
I'm a porsche guy and ended up buying a ferrari 360 Modena Manual 6speed because i won't pay 180K for a 2018 GT3 in manual and i definitely don't want the 2014+ PDK and i already had a 997 as my daily driver for 4 years and was sick of 997 even if this time it would be a Gt3 - Love the Ferrari, but of course it isn't a 911 which is what i really ultimately want to be back in again
I’m a manual fan but It’s funny because even though they finally offered the manual......over 85% of the new GT3’s have been ordered with PDK. Many people have ordered the manual and last second, changed to PDK.

You know when chief engineers are talking about weights savings around 1Kg here and there, that there is nothing better than in the past. just got my 2018 gt3 poster and hung it on my wall. i am 44 still buying posters i can never afford a real one. never even been in a Porsche or in a neighborhood with them. grew up reading rag car magazines though.
Wtf are you taking about? The manual is just more engaging. You dont lose power with the pdk. The 1mph higher top speed for the manual is simply a gear decision made by Porsche to achieve certain benchmarks with the PDK.
One of the most ultimate driving machines ever built with the manual...by modern standards anyway. Would be amazing to procure one in the short future...kind of got my eyes set on an ACR though....cheaper...meaner...shittier...but f it.

westpalmdoc can’t imagine why it would be a disaster. Many tuned German 911s already have in excess of 750 and they are fantastic.
you would not need 5 liters. you can make 650 with a lot less
