    26-inch, stiffest, Tannus tires installed on my trike handcycle:
    I used multiple Ty-Raps and two nylon cargo straps to further help stretch tire onto rim.
    Most Ty-Raps are usable again and again. A few had to be cut off.
    Took me 2-1/2 hours to get each tire on, BUT, entirely worth doing so!
    Hey.., turn on your radio, relax, and install them.
    70-year-old, NFL-sized rider here with limited mobility.
    Will be getting MORE Tannus tires for my recumbent Hase Lepus, E-assist delta planform trikes!
    Hase Lepus 25-inch seat-height option allows slidable from/to wheelchair/forearm crutches!
    Not so on any of my multiple owned tadpole trikes.
    Never outgrow a delta planform trike.
    Grow oldest on a delta planform trike.

    Thank you, great review. My wife and I just had Tannus airless put all around on our HP Velotechnik Scorpion fx trikes. So far, have nothing but good things to say in the first 100 miles. We also added e-assist, so that more than makes up for any extra rolling resistance. We ride mostly on local rail trails, some paved, and some packed gravel. They really don't feel any different to us than our old pneumatic tires. Not having to worry about flats, or even checking the air is wonderful. We are in our 70's, and these changes have made a huge difference for us.

    Thank you for the review! Maybe it was a break-in period that made you feel sticky in the first month. I read an article saying 'Tannus require a break-in period lasting between 50 and 70 miles, during which time they might have a “plasticky feel.” They explain that this process wears off the polymer used to break the tires free from the mold during manufacturing.

    Good tip about putting some tape over the hole so water doesn't get in! I currently have Tannus tires on my old road bike, but I don't ride that bike in the rain so haven't encountered that problem. However, we're thinking of putting Tannus tires on our Bromptons, which we ride in all weather conditions, so we'll make sure to cover the hole! :)

    I have got an eBike and got 2 punctures in 10 days on Marathon Plus tyres.
    OK... time to get those Tannus Armour inserts. Those gave me months of puncture-free riding... but today, even with those inserts in, I got a nail in the rear,. It took about 45 mins trying to find where it had punctured (I stupidly _removed_ the nail out of gut instinct, thus losing where the puncture was!)
    If I had not removed the nail then it would have been a 5 minute job to fix. I didn't even take the rear wheel off. That's the nice thing about having Marathon Plus and Tannus Armour - if you get a puncture, it has to be something so big, you're easily going to see it in the tyre (and/or hear it clicking each time the wheel turns) so repairing a puncture _without taking the wheel off_ is surprisingly easy, it can be done in 5 minutes. You fix it and wonder if you've done everything, it's that quick.
    Even so... I thought today, enough is enough! Even one puncture every 6 months is one too many and they are simply always going to happen on this heavy eBike, so I have ordered a 26"x1.75" Tannus Aither II Razor Blade tyre for the rear. Hope I can get it fitted without the pegs driving me mad! 😎

      I use the airless tires by Tannus so I don't get any flats when I use those wheel sets. I pull nails and other sharp objects out of them almost every other week in my neighborhood.

      @yutehube4468 2 роки тому +2

      @@BromptonFamilyTime The first time I pull a nail out of mine, I'll certainly have a little chuckle to myself 🙂It's the ultimate protection. I'm on an eBike so, the rolling resistance won't bother me so much, it also has a suspension seatpost (Suntour SP12 NCX) and fork so, the ride being a bit harsher probably won't have much effect. Win-win.

    Thank you for this review. I just installed 16" Tannus solid tyres on my Aceoffix and was dismayed at the 30% rolling resistance. I am halfway through the break-in/wearing in period and cannot wait for the less strenuous rides. Unfortunately, I live in Singapore on the equator so it is perennially hot and humid! Hopefully that does not mean my rolling resistance is here to stay!

    • @pharoahscurse
      @pharoahscurse Рік тому +1

      The rolling resistance is a bummer i know. I just installed mine on my 20 inch bike to work rig. Inclines feel more sluggish and the pedaling feels heavier.

    • @ar-t2742
      @ar-t2742 Рік тому +1

      @pharoahscurse How far have you ridden in them and what was your added rolling resistance percentage? I am REALLY hoping my wear in and the rolling resistance drops. If wearing in is only supposed to make it less rigid, then I am going to suffer even more! I actually would prefer more rigidity!

    • @BromptonFamilyTime
      @BromptonFamilyTime  Рік тому +1

      That is the downside of the Tannus tires. They do stick more in the hot weather. I have not had a flat tire since I switched to the Continental Urbans. Tannus tires are great if you are using them for short distances or a really bad area where flats occur often.

    Thanks for the review. I've always considered Tannus tyres for my commuting Brompton to avoid punctures. Never thought of weight savings as a benefit though.
    So I did the math and unless you include a pump, spare tube & toolkit (all which I skip for my last mile commute rides), I found a weight penalty if I were to switch to Tannus tyres:
    · Tannus for Brompton (32-349), Weight = 310g
    · Schwalbe One (35-349) 173g + Schwalbe SV4 Inner Tube 85g + Rim Tape 18g = 276g total
    Not a lot really, but it does works out to 34g per tire or 68g for both wheels (excluding weight of Tannus insertion pins). I suppose that's why on the Tannus website, they qualify it by saying that "this tyre is lighter than *most* regular tyre setups" :)

    • @BromptonFamilyTime
      @BromptonFamilyTime  2 роки тому +2

      I was using a lot of slime inside both tires so I definitely feel a difference in weight. I was using the extra thick tubes as well 😂 Any weight savings is nice on a small bike 👍🏼

    From other review of Tannus tires on different bikes, I can say that 5000 miles life is valid for 28" tires, for Brompton 3000 miles is more realistic, since the small tire makes 1.75 more rotations to cover the same distance.

    Hi Shu, Happy new year to you and your nice family! Been looking forward to this Tannus review because I've just bought a set for my Brompton electric conversion. I like to go fast (25mph) so am concerned about losing speed due to the rolling-resistance. After the situation in NYC, good to see you've put on your fender or mud-guard as we call them here in the UK. Another great video! Always look forward to your videos..."Alright". Take care. G.

    Great review. I've just ordered some of these tyres after my fourth puncture in a week.
    As for breaking a spoke, the spoke nipple remains in the rim so there's no need to take the tyre off to fit a new spoke. Just unscrew the broken spoke from the nipple and fit the new spoke in 👍
