This should have been a tv series that led to the creation of a Dark Tower universe. It would have been the easiest way to enter into that world, since children like her are crucial to the story.
This was a Cliff Notes version of Firestarter. It was lacking in a lot of areas. There were some good kills. Some of the violence is not for the faint of heart especially if you are an animal lover Meeeowouch !! LOL I did enjoy watching Gloria Reuben in this never seen her so crazy and cruel before.
Effron would be a great Harvey Dent for Pattinson's Batman. he's got a winning smile with a lot of charisma which you need for Harvey but as his Bundy movie showed he can play darker roles really well which would be great for Two Face IMO.
So I saw this movie with my best friend in theaters and we didn't realize it was on peacock till after the movie. Everytime the little girl put some on fire we just say *ding* "HOT POCKET!!!" This movie was just bad man
I feel sorry for the whole cast, who've had their talents wasted by this trashfire of a remake. In particular, Ryan Kiera Armstrong was fantastic. This is her second time in a Stephen King adaptation, with "IT: Chapter 2" being the first.
Yeah the cast was great, except Gloria Reuben. It would be nice to see a miniseries with this cast, but I doubt it given that it’s too early to start over and the actress who played Charlie will grow out of the role by the time they decide to restart it.
Firestarter is one of my favorite Stephen King books. I've seen the original adaptation with Drew Berrymore and remember it being ok. It was no Shining but it was about as good as you could hope for a Stephen King film adaptation at the time. That really isn't saying much and as Martin said they cut a lot out but I found it ok as a one-and-done watch.
13:58 - 14:02 Instant karma be like. LOL! But seriously, there are cats that do that. It's weird and annoying. They come up to you and then get aggressive like you walked up to them. Like, why did you walk up to me in the first place? They are lucky people are not firebenders in real life because in that split second when they attack you like that, it is normal to feel a type of way about it.
Cat owner here, can confirm that my cat does that. It’s a form of over-stimulus for the cat. They lash out if the person pets them too much. It does vary between cats.
Cats are creatures of the divine and can sense bad ju-ju seeping from you or the bad juju others have rubbed off on you by interaction. Have relations with someone with bad juju? Their residue is on your spirit now, like an uber tiny black cloud
Poor John Carpenter, there's plenty of great horror movies on Shudder that could use his soundtrack skills, and instead he's doing low grade Blumhouse shit. That fucking crow explosion looked like an effect from Monty Python, LOL.
John Carpenter scored this movie, and i usually like his soundtracks but this one was not great. Especially when you compare it to the 1984 film scored by Tangerine Dream. The song 'Charly the Kid' is better than the movie itself but it's still better than this version. The original felt like it could have been an X-Men film. I think Korey would enjoy some of it, 2:49 spoilers.
the original wasn't perfect, but has charm and an awesome final act. the 2022 film Ryan Keira Armstrong and Zac Efron did OK with what they were given, that aside this movie was a forgettable disappointment that wasted its potential, its R-rating,its cast and its Friday the 13th release date. wasted potential indeed.
I laughed my ass off during the opening credits with the tests as soon as I saw that one person smiling without their eyes and dropping those fake ass plastic ping pong balls to the floor. I just had to stop there I knew this wasn't going to be any good.
They should’ve flipped it around. Where the McGhee’s are mostly shown as being dangerous and the Fed’s are seen as trying to protect people. Then, in the final act, show how the Fed’s have much darker designs and the McGhee’s, while still being a hazard, are only trying to survive. Even with the limited budget, a twist like that could’ve made this version more memorable.
Zac actually has a new film coming out during Oscar season that’s War Drama from Peter Farrelly, called the Greatest Beer Run Ever. Stars Zac Efron, Russell Crowe and Bill Murray. Might be the project he’s been looking for. :)
Didn’t realize this was a day & date release with Peacock until after I saw it in theaters. But it makes sense because while I was watching it I couldn’t get over how the cinematography looked like it was meant for a streaming service.
After reading about MK Ultra and all the shit the CIA did in South America, the cartoon characters might actually be too nuanced. Because they got some truly needlessly cruel BS. Feed a Elephant LSD until it died, feed a human LSD until he died, feed mental patients LSD until they died or went from a 4 to a 15 in terms of mental instability, then "loose them in the paperwork". So I feel the Nuance is not making them have a point so much as showing a newbie get indoctrinated.
Korey your zacky poo looks good. My daughter and I saw the preview, she was like mommy this movie looks soo good, I turn to her and say it’s a remake kiddo lol.
A remake to fire starter is like taking a heap of shit out of an unflushable toilet, eating it and expecting it to be an enjoyable experience. No thanks, lol! 😒
I feel blessed to have never read the book or seen the original film (though I now plan on it) before seeing this movie because I thought it was good standing completely on its own. Should have been released under the Thriller genre and not Horror, though, as it really had only a few horrific elements but didn't play them up hard enough to be anything like Stephen King's work or other similar genre films. Simply rebranding probably could have done a lot of service to this film.
As a fan of the og firestarter i was not excited about this remake. Charlie is a lot more sympathetic in the 84’ movie version than in this one it seems. And i never realized the ponytail man was supposed to be native american. 😂
This was 2 funny bruh & it's a good thing I saw the original movie before the remake & they should've played the song Firestarter in the end credits that would've been great.
Peacock does have a good mini-series about a dangerous corrupt surgeon. That's all I remember seeing on there. My friend has it so I didn't get a chance to see much. Overall I think Peacock isn't gonna last long.
I remember watching the original one on vhs when I was little along with spiderman religously. I had no idea what the hell the plot was but the powers were cool
Firestarter was so damn DULL, man. I mean, damn. Ive been more entertained by worse movies. To me there is nothing worse than the cinematic equivalence of complete indifference. No style, no imagination, played wicked straight, it's not even interesting enough to be campy, crazy, wild, or eccentric. Just boringly average. It's plain white bread... toasted.

Thanks! I didn’t want to watch the video yet in case there were spoilers but needed to know if it would be a waste of money to see in theaters.
It's odd to make a Stephen King novel into a 90 minute movie. When a lot of his novels are pretty long.
