I still don't understand what makes the old doom's monsters so much more terrifying than all the monsters in the later sequels, including the Bethesda ones. Those guys in the original id team had a special touch indeed
It is due to the low resolution, your mind fills in the rest. The problem with better graphics is that it also removes the fantasy and makes it more mundane. Everyone want PC graphics like the matrix, but to tell you the truth, I think it will also be boring.

So cool! Can’t wait to try out the Knightmare of Hell for myself when it comes out. I remember the giant dark lord, by BD Smiley, that you based this monster off of, never got released for some reason, and I was extremely disappointed.
Honestly, you should showcase these at a better, bigger, and more open level, the KnightmareofHell AI is always cornered or walking to the wall when attacked
do something like "bind l summon cyberdemon" in the console or something then you can just summon them with the l key or whatever key assigned then you dont need to keep going to the console
there's a ton of monsters from convoluted doom that can be used. there are plenty of other mods. i'd really like to see the modded beastiary of monsters there are that are unique. some of them are quite nasty

I on the other hand think it's the sound design. Sounds in earlier games were way more overbearing, that added to the terror.
