Something that took my a while, using the lantern to pop the blue balls allows you to heal back more of your life when its below max.
It also allows you to explode those umbral explosives
Apparently one of the biggest gripes about swarming enemies being unrelenting in the umbra realm is being addressed in a patch. I am definitely interested to check this out someday, especially with it being an UE5 game.

Ironicially, this is detrimental to my build which utilizes the healing aura and the defense aura always being on. With a mana regen rune on my shield, the mana regen ring and the ring of gnawing, I can basically sustain infinite mana and because the ring of gnawing gives you mana on hit (vs mana on kill) the more enemies I can hit, the more mana I can get back to keep those auras always going.

Deeply appreciate you all putting this on my radar! Loved hearing everyone's reactions, opinions, and excitement on this over the last few weeks. A pleasant surprise for a game I typically would not have looked into. (I get all these "Lord" and "Fallen" games mixed up. Why do I feel like there are so many in the last year?)
I personally give it an 8, but I'm a sucker for a well designed world. The interconnectivity is the best I've seen since Dark Souls 1.
My main gripe is that the inventory is terrible. No sorting options, and the default "sorting" just sort of spits items out all over the place. (It's by weight, but it's not divided by type so the armor page looks like a mess). Makes it hard for completionists like me to 100% all the gear when I have a hard time even knowing what I have.
Interconnectivity and level design doesn't matter when it's frustrating to explore. The enemy density, placement and all the bullshit crap on the game is insane makes it hard to even care to explore in the first place
@@Johnny.1994 I didn't really have too much trouble with that except in maybe the final area.
I agree with the score. Its a good game with plenty of innovation, but its held back by some questionable design choices (enemy density & too many winding paths) as well as performance issues. However, the Devs have shown that they are willing to listen to feedback and are working diligently to fix as many issues as they can. 7.5 seems like an honest & fair score, imho.
8/10 at best, the fact that its a fun game plus it sold million copies says alot

Good review! I personally have it at an 8 but 7.5 is very fair.
The next step for this genre will actually be setting a game as the Apocalyptic event is happening.. the player will be fighting the encroaching evil as its taking hold, as the innocent succumb and become demons.. lots of gameplay potential there
Very fair review Bradley. I would have give it a point higher in the score, but it is what it is. I feel like the map design and art direction and looks are top notch. Enough to get it into higher scores. Of course the umbral realm makes exploration and finding secrets a lot more complicated and unique

I liked Lords of the Fallen slightly more. It has bigger and more complex levels to explore and I like how the world interconnects sort of like Dark Souls 1. Both great games though.

lotf 2 is underrated, very fun game through it's imperfections. 8/10 minimum at the most

As a huge souls/soulslike fan, i really like this game alot despite some issues & performance woes. It makes me feel like im playing a fix of DS1-3 respectfully. DS1 brilliant world design combined with DS2 clunky but fun combat & challenging enemy density with graphical fidelity on par with DS3 or better.. i personally absolutely love that feeling.. closest ive felt playing an actual Dark Souls game for a soulslike imo.
Fair score. It's like an 8/10 for me. I have seen couple of times 4/10 scores from some websites and youtube channels. Seriously I dont know what they are smoking.

The game is unbearable and clearly unfinished 7.5 seems high. Bosses are whatever and area exploration is unrewarding. Enemy placement is good but density is insane making run backs frustrating and again unrewarding. Drop rates got nerfed recently too lol i have no hope for this game improving any of the missteps. Great review tho love you guys
The only thing that's unbearable are people like you who over judge a game that does not have the same budget as fromsoft. Despite this the game is still fantastic

What do you mean exactly that the exploration is unrewarding? There is plenty of shortcuts, weapons, armors, and spells to find throughout the game that are unique and cool looking. I’m baffled by this complaint. I agree with everything else however.
@@nickguarino7592 weapons are stat sticks. No unique animations at a certain point you google which one scales best with ur build. Visuals are dope but why use one sword over another if the only difference is damage values? Unique movesets have existed since demons souls so this is inexcusable imo. Shortcuts are hit or miss level design in general is hit or miss. Feels like the game was rushed out and based on leaks on the dev cycle seems like thats the case.
unreal engine 5 failed big time. dark souls 3 look better.

I just hate the visuals in this game, not the graphics, they're fine but the style they went for. And I love all the Dark Souls games. But here they went overboard. it's so obsessed with the "dark" of its inspiration and desire to suggest pervading dread, it feels relentlessly miserable to play through.

Reviewing this generic garbage instead of BG3 is just wild to me. If I was a review outlet, one of the greatest rpg of all time would take priority above everything else.

Imagine that thinking 30 years ago when quake and doom came out. There'd be no more FPS games. How are games meant to evolve, iterate and be made?
It's not exactly the same, takes heavy inspiration from sure, but it has it own things goin for it. Souls didn't invent 3d exploration games with swords.
They down own old, decripid medieval worlds with monsters.
