Just bought the kit in 2022. So far I’m pleased with the kit lens. Most images come out pretty sharp and iso can remain reasonable in many situations. Looking forward to taking it walking next summer. I upgraded from a 500D.
It’s a perfectly fine little lens. I think people get too caught up on it’s limitations and not what it’s good at. I have an 18-35mm with a big apathetic of f1.8 and it’s at least 5 times larger and significantly heavier.
I really appreciate your reviews for this camera, which I've used for about a year now. Like you, I remain enthusiastic about it. In terms of this lens, I would make much the same comment about the "other" kit lens, the 18-150 mm F3.5-6.3 IS. Although I initially was sceptical, the image quality is good and the aperture range is similar. Overall, it's a great "all-in-one" lens option, particularly for video.
That you. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. The 18-150mm is a good lens and I don’t fault anyone getting it. My main reason for looking to EF-S lenses is more due to the cost and/or if I decided to get a 90D (or whatever comes next)
I have used it a few times and found it to be quite useful. I am shooting a review of the 22mm f/2 right now, should be posting soon. I would recommend it
I know I’ll have the 22mm one day but I’ve been avoiding it because I just don’t find the focal length very interesting. Silly, I know, but right now I’m waiting on some budget manual lenses to come in which I’m quite excited for. I look forward to seeing your video on the 2mm though.
