Your videos are just a blessing, never stop Juan!
Thanks! I don't plan to
That blue tone black armor has some class, thank you kindly for posting this.
Thank you for your amazing support 😘
You're the reason why I highlight way more bold now. My minis end up way better now. I followed a general path for my hive fleet leviathan based on your video and man. It pops! Keep it up Juan
That's the way! Paint bravely
Thank you , Juan .
That intro , yes , Just Yes , awesome !
Thanks e, I had so much fun making it.
Absolutely stunning yet again mate, Epic work. And watching where you put your highlights and textures is a real learning experience. If ever you could codify that knowledge Id watch the Video, buy the book, the tee-shirt and go watch the inevitable Hollywood block buster Juan: lord of the brushes, the fellowship of the glaze
Lol, thanks mate 😘
Flesh Tearers Red over Mechanicus Standard Grey is surprisingly gorgeous 😍
I KNOW! I was actually surprised
If you want better saturation then paint red over yellow.
I really like how you did the gold details. Amazing work
Thanks ☺️
This vid wins the best ever intro of the Internet for me.....tip of the cap sir 👏 😅
And the painting was quite good to 😜
As long as you enjoyed the intro I'm pleased, the rest is just an excuse
love this dude
Thanks mate 😘
I`ve come back to Warhammer after 20 years introducing my son. Now I know were to refresh my skills and paint my Chaos army. Fantastic job.
Welcome back! We've missed you
Just laaaaavley!! 🤘🤌
😘
Great work Juan, great videos , much appreciated, thank you very helpful
Happy to help
That intro was amazing. And the painting was beautifully done!
Thanks 😘
13:03 THANK YOU. So many people are so afraid of making mistakes, they let it stop them from learning or trying new things. New painters should be learning how to accept and deal with mistakes when they're painting their very first minis, IMO.
Nice result, by the way. How much did it hurt you to have to paint the blue highlights on the armour?
Thanks 😘
Since I don't consider that to be blue not bad at all 😂
You crush it as always. Your videos are a joy
Thanks 😘
Thank you for your tutorials, it really helps, and give motivation to paint harder and better!
VIEWS FOR THE VIEWS GOD
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures i'm more ssssssllaanesh minion
There's excess in everything! That's Slannesh true power
Magnifique 👏🏼
Merci Beaucoup!
Really nice! Didnt see this Video in your Overview. Thanks for painting StD! Wonderful inspiration! Thanks to your cloak Video i found it 😁
Paint shopping time!
Thanks 😘
Very cool and impressive result 👍👍👍
It will be necessary to paint this gang in this style.
It might be necessary but I won't 😂
I might paint one of the others in another colour scheme though
Great video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching 😘
Once again a very impressive work !
Thanks
Not sure which video to ask this question/request, but I’m currently watching this one. Could or would you make a video on how you prepare and/or thin your contrast paints from purchase of the paint to application. You have mentioned in a pervious video your paints are pre-thinned already and I cannot get my contrast paints to apply like yours. Thank you so much!
I don't thin my contrast paints when I transfer them. They are right out of the pot and poured into droppers. That's it.
As for Contrast Application I made a video some weeks ago about the correct Contrast Technique, watch that if you haven't already
Cada vídeo tuyo que veo alucino más con lo que enseñas, siempre se aprende algo más, muchas gracias por tu trabajo.
Gracias a ti guapo 😘
Love the new Chaos Warriors. Always wanted to do some. Looks great Juan!
Thanks 😘
LMAO! The opening alone earns a thumbs up and a share.
😂😂 that's only part I care about
Another amazing video! You are an incredible artist!
Thanks 😘
I own them too know.
Your work is awesome and also makeable.
Thanks.
Thanks that means a lot
Excellent work. I really like how the cloak came out.
Thanks 😘
great sources of inspiration as always
Thanks 😘
Great stuff as usual, Juan!
Thank you for the super video!
Thank you for watching 😘
Wait, did you not even prime it before painting, you absolute mad man!? :D
Lol
Hah! I liked your self-ad : )
Impressive mini too!
Thanks 😘
Great video as always! And the first UA-cam Ad I actually checked out after watching. Really like your etsy store and if I will ever own money I will buy a ring from you...I promise. Until then hasta luego hombre 🤠
Gracias you beauty 😘
Love it. 👏These vids have been really useful in showing how you use the very tip of your brush for painting. I'm trying to mimic your technique and its definitely harder than it looks!
Would love to see what you do with your brush on the pallet etc - Do you ever show that anywhere?
I have a video on my Patreon where I explain that and also any of my livestream painting videos, specially the bust ones.
excellent
Thanks
Qué fácil lo haces ver, pardiez, qué resultado tan buen, queda la mini brutal 🤩
Gracias guapeton 😘
Dayum Juan, that looks RAD. I never thought of getting the gold colour by using a wash over a metallic paint. I guess it kills a bit of the shine (which I think is great) since contrast is a bit more matt, and then you add it back only in the highlights. Looks very fantasy like, very pleasing to the eye.
Thanks 😘
Man Really love your Content, I just starting painting miniatures and your videos have helped soo much.
Happy to help, and thanks it means a lot
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures your videos are such a big help since I use the same paints you use and I really like how you explain and teach how to do things. Soo helpful
Thanks, I tailor my videos and design them in a way that's as easy to replicate and as simple as possible. Takes a bit of work but I think it's worth it
Joder Juan, dejo de trabajar solo por ver tus video, Dios subido a la enesima potencia....enhorabuena por tu trabajo..
Gracias ☺️
Awesome work :)
Thanks
Estos videos están genial! Sigue así! 😁
Gracias guapo 😘
Wow...it looks like you use a heavier amount of contrast paints than the conventional technique. I'm intrigued...
Watch my contrast Technique video, it's all explained there.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures ok great! Will do, thanks for the quick response. I'm new to your channel but am blown away. Great stuff!
Happy to help and thanks 😘
Te lo he comentado por instagram y te lo comento por aqui, que barbaridad Juan!! Si tu negocio esta en horas bajas siempre podras convertirte en el jefe del equipo de 'eavy metal xD
Gracias ☺️
And now I want a Space Wolves plastic lunch box...
Never give up on your dreams
Are you planning a video for the base on this figure too?
No sorry, I'm not.
It involves enamels and three different brands of paints and I prefer to not make videos that are that hard to follow.
Ostras Juan! Es una pasada. Una pena que no hayas explicado cómo has hecho la peana! Me encanta! Podrías decirnos al menos que colores has utilizado?? Mil gracias!!!
Claro
Arena: Vallejo US Dark Green, Pincel seco de Russian Tank Crew Highlight, lavado de Athonian Camoshade y Biel-Tan Green mezclados
Rocas: Mechanicus, Pincel seco de Celestra, Nuln Oil, Pincel seco de Celestra y Ulthuan, con edge highlight Ulthuan. Luego AK interactive Moss Deposits punteado aquí y allí y luego fundido con Thinner
Thx for the great Video, but where is the Tutorial for the Base? I need a good Way to paint Rocks in a natural Scheme. Greetings!
There won't be any, but here is the process
Sand: Vallejo US Dark Green, Drybrush Russian Tank Crew Highlight, wash Athonian Camoshade and Biel-Tan Green mixed
Rocks: Mechanicus, Drybrush Celestra, Nuln Oil, Drybrush Celestra and Ulthuan, edge highlight Ulthuan. Then AK interactive Moss Deposits here and there and integrated with Thinner
First time I have ever hit the like button on a video when a paid promotion came up hahah
😘
Will watch later after work…..but that’s a pretty damn fine model.
Thanks 😘
Thanks a lot. I'm brand spanking new to this and decided to go for Slaves to Darkness. This helped me immensely. Just wondering what glazing is? Is it just really thinned out base?
A glaze is a very thin layer of paint, that's all.
It's a technique that can be used in lots of different ways, for example if you later enough thin layer one on top of the other in a staggered way, you will create a transition. But they can be used in many other ways, like tinting or filtering
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures awesome, thank you.
This Mini could easily be oart of a GW Homeoage Mini, this is A Evy Metal Paintjob.
Thanks
What brush do you use and how to you care for it? Seems very good quality with a great tip to do most all the work with a single brush and get such great flow
Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3 and I just clean it in my pot of water after each session and store it horizontally. That's it, no soap, or anything special.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Amazing thanks. Ordered a few and threw your name onto the order to let them know you're showcasing their stuff
They know, I have an affiliate link in the description! But I'm really happy anyway because Rosemary and Co is a company I really respect and love.
What miniature box is this? I haven´t found it yet. Only slaves of Chaos
btw amazing painting, i am stunned....
Underworlds Warband
Brilliant tutorial.
At 23:25 you thin the Iron Hands Steel to a glaze but what do you use to thin it?
If nothing os clearly stated and written in the graphics, water
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures ah ok, my metallics always go grainy when I use water.
Use less water and do more layer, that's basically it. Hope it helps
I’ve never seen that Chaos Warrior model, and it looks really sweet!
Is it a kitbash, a really good print, or from some box I don’t know about?
Awesome work though, please do keep it up!
It's from the Underworlds warband
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
Thanks for the fast response!
That’ll be why I haven’t seen it before, don’t play many of the smaller skirmish games GW offer. Looks like that might have to change though…
MAKE THIS THE THINNEST POSSIBLE.
NOW DO IT THINNER.
THIS IS THE WAY
If I was going to buy some of those brushes from the link in your description, what sizes would you recommend to start out with?
I use exclusively the Series 33 size 2, 3 and 4.
And mainly the 3, that's my main workhorse
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures perfect thank you 😄
Very nice vid and paintjob! I just have to ask, what is the point of using contrastpaints as basecoats on the armor and cloak? I mean, what is gained compared to using normal base paints?
On the armour actually it gets you one or two stages of Highlights out of the way, specially volumetric highlights, so you are saving time there.
As for the cloak, well you can most definitely just mix a dark red and use that but to be honest, this is by far the most beautiful, intense and saturated burgundy I've ever used and with the benefit of getting to a beautifully smooth basecoat in one single coat instead of two or three with a regular acrylics. So there are benefits but not as many as on other parts.
Also in the end this series is just a fun exercise, sometimes working with a limitation or a rule is fun and forces you to look for solutions and recipes that you wouldn't have ever tried otherwise and that's great to expand your knowledge and again, have fun in the process.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures OK, I get that, I was just thinking it's a lot harder to clean up mistakes on contrast paint. If you get a drop of white on the black armor for example, but don't see it when it happens, you can't just go over it with the black contrast and abbadon black has a different sheen. How would you solve something like that?
Oh super easy, barely an inconvenience. You don't make mistakes 😂
Joking aside, that's the main drawback of contrast paints, fixing mistakes is a huge challenge. If you've watched the whole video you can see me mess up pretty bad painting the leather and how I fixed it, if you are quick, you can just wipe off the mess before it dries and move on, otherwise you will have to mix a matching colour in the same way art restorers do, and correct it that way, not easy but doable.
Jelou!!! I'm painting this right now. What a great tutorial!! Can anyone tell me the name of this chaso warrior? Thanks a lot!!!
Es de la banda de Underworlds
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures gracias, maestro!!
Thanks so much for this, I just purchased my start collecting set. What paints would you recommend for a complete beginner to get them battle ready? I can't afford all of these paints just yet!
Just stop at the contrast basecoat for all parts, don't do the highlights and you will be just fine.
Do you pull paint straight from the pot or do you use any medium? It might just be your technique but it goes on so well and seems so opaque compared to my results with contrast paints. Is this more due to the basecoat of mechanicus standard grey? Sorry I’m very new to painting and I love your scheme and am interested in starting a S2D army.
NEVER use paint straight from the pot, always place it in a palette first and never use your good brushes for that either. That being said, if nothing is clearly stated no medium was used at all.
I have all my paints in droppers, because it's just better for me.
As for the colour being more opaque, contrast paints are transparent so the colour you use underneath makes a big difference, in the case using Mechanicus which is a medium grey makes for a very much darker final colour, perfect for this particular application.
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures thank you so much for the response!
Happy to help 😘
sorry, im new, why you use layer directly over the nude plastic and then highlight the coat with base?
It's not over plastic, it's over Mechanicus Grey primer.
Second, the names Citadel gives to paints are meaningless, you can use anything to highlight if it's the right value and hue
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Thank you so much!, I love your videos despite my english is not very good
Thanks
how much time do you spent on paint it?
About 8-10 hours
How would you paint the horse?
Probably cursing the whole time, I hate painting horses
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures that would be fun to watch as a gag video, the whole video will be filled with bleeps and end with a rage quit
What kit is this model from?
Underworlds warband
need winter style
Maybe in the future
Can anyone confirm what size brush is being used in this video for the contrasts?
Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Thank you! Love your contrast videos!
Hello, How much time did you spent on this miniatures ?
Around 10 hours?
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 😱😱😱😱 are you kidding me? 😅😅
No, that's about the time it takes to paint all of the Eavy Contrast minis 8-10 hours more or less
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures ok thanks you
Hi, I know this is really old but could you tell me the colours used for the stone/moss bases please?
It's all detailed in the video
How to Base - Mossy Rocks
Nevermind I found your equally helpful video. Thanks!
VIEWS FOR THE VIEWS GOD
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Do you have a video or suggestion for the fur cloaks found on most of the other warriors? Thanks!
From what set is that figure :o
If I remember correctly, one of the underworlds warbands
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures will you do like chaos knights from age of sigmar or something similiar for slaves to darkness?
@cerberus8416 I very much doubt it, I have way too many things to paint before I even consider doing the same paintjob again
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures very well
Can somebody explain, why he is always painting his Thumbnail?
To show the consistency of the paint
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Ah okay got it (: Im just getting started and after I build my models Im trying to get some Inspiration, really like your Video!
Thanks
Juam pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease paint some contrast Marvel Crisis Protocol superheroes. POR FAVOR MI HERMANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Lo siento amigo, ya sabes que es una gama que no me interesa
I know you hate blue and all, but I'm afraid the poll is in and it has been scientifically proved that Sycorax Bronze is objectively the worst colour
😂😂😂 it's pretty terrible indeed
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures Great vid (as always) btw. I really love the vibrancy and contrast on the cloak
Sycorax Bronze's colour is fine, but the paint itself... it's like trying to paint with dirty paint water, the coverage is so bad.
