  • Lodge Quick Sourdough Yeast Loaf | Sourdough Discard Recipe | Simple No Knead Bread | Use up the leaven!
    This is definitely one of my favorite ways to use up my excess sourdough starter. And even better, when the Feast of Unleavened Bread is approaching, this is for sure a great recipe to use up your leaven without having to trash it. Make extra loaves and give them out to family, friends, and people you may really need a warm taste of something delicious to fill their bellies.

    Thanks for showing your notebook recipe with the weights of each ingredient! Loved using the discard for flavor and the yeast for rise. Quick and delicious!

    Thank you for this wonderful video. Can't wait! Could I add roasted garlic and herbs to this recipe? And if so, when should it be added? Thanks! 😊

      Thanks for your comment! Please let me know how it goes :)
      That sounds delicious!! I would add it once you’ve mixed up the dough as the last “ingredients” and just kinda fold them in. Since this dough rises so fast I don’t think they will interfere with that process. I totally want to try that now!!!

    Hi, just a little confused did you use sourdough discard or sourdough starter?

    • @frochoffthebranch
      @frochoffthebranch  8 місяців тому +4

      Ya good question - it’s the same thing. People say sourdough discard because it’s usually extra sourdough starter they have in their bowl/jar after making sourdough bread or something so they look for recipes to use that starter in even though it may not be super active anymore. Since this recipe uses dry active yeast as well, it is not as important to make sure you have an active (bubbly) starter like you would when you make traditional sourdough bread (just flour, water, starter, & salt)

    I really wanted to love this recipe because u are such a nice lady ... but this was sooooooo bad , one of the really bad ones out there on the internet ..... such a mess , soo liquidy ( and i used your metric scale ) , did not rise in in the oven .... just soo sooo bad .... i made this mistake of making two at the same time , one for me , one for a friend .... 😢

    • @lennabutterflystar

      Both horrible ... waste of good ingredients , my time and nerves

      Aw dang that’s pretty disappointing I’m sorry it worked out that way for you. It is indeed an extremely wet dough so I don’t handle it at all but just use the dough scrapper as shown in the video to bring up the sides into the middle right before baking. Not sure why it didn’t rise for you… what state was your starter in? Did you use a Dutch oven? That does suck to waste ingredients and time though

      @@frochoffthebranch So weird that it didn't rise at all? Especially since there is active yeast added too? Something's amiss

    🤣🤣The discarded sourdough starter is your leavening yeast....and you call yourself a baker????

    • @frochoffthebranch
      @frochoffthebranch  Рік тому +21

      Lol glad I gave you a good laugh! Did I call myself a baker? I guess everyone is who bakes something 🤷🏻‍♀️ but really though, it would otherwise be /could be discarded Starter since it’s not probably activated in this recipe to rise a long-fermented loaf of actual sourdough. That’s why it’s labeled “quick” because it’s the instant yeast that’s actually rising the loaf in a matter of an hour or so, the sourdough starter in this case may help with some gluten structure but moreover contributes to flavor. The words “quick” and “sourdough” together in a description is clearly an oxymoron, which is understood by actually looking at all ingredients in the dough. I do appreciate people like you though, your deep desire to insult keeps life exciting 😘

      God forbid someone should offer a quick and delicious loaf for people that are insanely busy/not at peak bread making skills
